Yes, he is definitely back.
The “retirement” was more something of a strike as the agency wanted to force him to take on a drama (presumably another idol-soap with a rookie actress) which he absolutely didn’t want to do and they refused to release him from his contract even though he was prepared to buy his way out.
The official “comeback” was announced in September 2024, before Love of Nirvana started airing.
He still has two upcoming dramas that were filmed before the retirement (guest roles in Shui Long Yin and Hidden Shadow.
We are currently waiting to see the new project that he will take on this year.

Dieting for extreme weight loss (for her height, ANYTHING under 50 kg is extreme) will deprive people of omega3 (fatty fish) and B-vitamins (whole grain, complex carbs) .
The avoidance of exposure to sunlight furthermore creates a deficiency in vitamin D, which is another important nutrient in the prevention of depression.
It would be too superficial to blame it all on external factors and work related stress.

Don’t fret if you cannot understand any of the narration, in the first three parts he is waxing poetically how snow and ice are the secret language of winter and in the fourth part he is tasting his way through a number of typical Northeastern dishes informing us that each of them “melts in the mouth” (there is a running counter for how many times he says 入口即化 = melts in the mouth). As always, just listening to the voice is a feast for the ears.
A word of guidance, don’t watch the 4th part if you are hungry or on a diet 😋.

Just a rumour, doubt spread to stop people from dropping the drama by giving them false hope.

I am utterly disgusted that it has been revealed only now that this drama is split into two parts.
I purposefully avoid such dramas but the producers, no doubt anticipating this attitude from a number of viewers, thought it wise to trick people into starting it by withholding this information.
Did they not think that people also resent being tricked and lied to?
I shall drop this now while the plot is still peacefully plodding along without too much suspense.

I’ve only seen her once as FL in Legend of the Phoenix and she was the weakest among the main cast.
Also, no make-up artist seems to be able to get rid of the dark shadows under her eyes, giving her a permanent tired and worn-out look which I found very distracting.
Considering she is already a good deal older than Richard in real life (which normally I wouldn’t care about) they may look more like mother and son together 😂

Ok, so the estate is surrounded by steep mountains, without access roads how did the horses get there? How do they bring up supplies?

I have, but if they are surrounded by steep mountains (like the one the FL was climbing) you won’t be able to GET to these lands on horseback.

The FL climbs this steep mountain to hunt for wild peonies and we are told that the climb is difficult and dangerous. Then, the next thing we see is the ML and Prince Ning leisurely riding their horses on the same mountain. How did their get up there? Did they airlift the horses?
If there’s a road from Chang’an (as their presence would to suggest) why didn’t the FL take it?

I just watched ep.8 and there is what I think is a massive logical error in this episode. Maybe someone has an idea to make sense of it (details in the comment below)
