There is nothing toxic about calling out a bad actor.
I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want to be operated by a bad surgeon “just trying to make a living”.

I think it’s Yang Mi. Her position among the female stars of her generation is a bit shaky at the moment because two of her other dramas/movies drew a lot of criticism so this one was supposed to give her a boost.
It could, however, simply be the desire to destroy something to feel more powerful.

It happens all the time. Some deranged people do it on other dramas, too. They actually spend the time to rate every single episode of a drama with 1. There should be a mechanism, that prevents the same user from rating more than one episode with 1 because if it’s that shit, no sane person would watch more than one episode. Sadly, the coding of the MDL website isn’t that advanced.

I think you have to be Chinese to understand the concept of fan wars. It feels like a substitute to tribal wars to me.
Among international viewers, no person in their right mind will waste time on actively hating stuff. You don’t like it, you drop it. Simple.

I would rephrase that, many people would disagree. One of the worst starlets pretending to be an actress around. Hopefully, her days as FL are over. Even the most expensive training courses cannot make up for a total lack of talent.

Watched the first three episodes and it is unbearably slow and boring. Had to put it on hold to see if it picks up later…

I put it on hold for now… somehow watching Be My Princess for the 4th time is more captivating at the moment 😂

I just put it on hold after three episodes because I found it boring.

That’s why I always watch 2or 3 episodes before making an assessment.

Or the first few episodes being incredibly boring… I really like Yang Mi, but this is sending me to sleep.

If true, I can’t blame Yang Mi for trying to back out of it. It looks like she wants to take her career into another direction and being locked in a cheesy Xianxia with a dead weight like GJ isn’t doing her any favours.

I think you can be a fan and still dislike the drama your favourite actress/actor stars in. Actors have very little control over much of makes or breaks a drama like co-actors, plot line, editing, makeup, CGI, etc. For many of them their agencies pick the script based on their short-term financial benefit and the artist has to perform whether they like the script or not.

There are also older actors available and their acting is often much better than that of the little idol boys…

Expressing opinions is one thing and I’m all for it.
What I cannot tolerate is people deliberately wrecking the rating of an ongoing drama by rating each episode with 1 or 2 as this makes absolutely no sense.
If anyone thinks it’s that bad, why would they watch episode after episode? It’s just blatantly obvious that these are people with some sort of psychological issue who either hate a drama enough to click through all the episodes to rate them or, people who hates themselves enough to keep watching a drama they utterly dislike. They really should seek help.

Oh, they do realise it, they just don’t care.
Compared to the Chinese market, a few thousand international viewers are nothing and all the WYS fan girlies will watch it anyway, even if the subs are terrible.

Visually, this looks like an interesting drama with a plot that for once doesn’t involve rebirth or other nonsensical tropes, but the choppy editing and terrible subtitles make it rather hard to follow what is happening.

Some people seem to have very strange mothers indeed.

Watched two episodes of this and so far it is nothing to write home about.
The CGI looks like we’re back in Qingqiu. Did they borrow the templates from 3L3W? In that scene were the FL walks drunk carrying a wine jar I felt like I was back in Zhe Yan’s peach grove. Yang Mi’s acting as the nonchalant and bored fox demon also feels like a continuation of her previous role, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because she was good in that role. It’s just that it enhances that feeling of deja vu.
As for Gong Jun, this role as the cheeky charmer bent on revenge seems to suit him better than the stoic character in LoA, but on occasion his laughs looked a bit artificial. I’m not sure whether this was meant to be acting within the acting or just bad acting.
Let’s see if this picks up some speed and becomes interesting in the following episodes.

Hehe, I remember watching ‘Merlin’. It was good in the beginning, but in the later seasons it became a bit silly. I didn’t even know they tried to remake that as well.

Let’s see how his acting works out in this one. So far I am quite unconvinced and I have a ton of goodwill towards him.
He was splendid in WoH but never managed to reproduce that sort of chemistry or spark in any other role.
