North-Europeans don’t have it on Disney+ but in the South we have it. I remember reading something in German from Disney so I am pretty certain that Germany is covered too.

I was very invested at the beginning but went bored by the end.
I really liked the friendship between the young women, who had nothing in common aside that entreprise, how they allied forces to untangle everything.
Unpopular opinion maybe, but women’s friendship and sisterhood aren’t portraited enough in Asian content. Too often women are arch nemesis just to get more attention or the love of a stupid boy. It’s a pity. Pure result of patriarchy, women alone are danger-less ; allied powerful!
The rhythm was good so I would not connect my decrease of interest with the length.
Maybe the 3 weeks break I took played a part, I just had moved on to other stories, other characters and decorum’s. The end was also a bit messy and I don’t do well with mess.
Nonetheless, I am happy to have seen a drama where young women focus on something else than cute boys, but have goals, plans and talents. I am also proud of Koreans to be willing to watch the difficult moments of their history. I haven’t watch Typhoon’s family yet, but I am not bothered that they made 2 dramas about the IMF crisis during the same years. The two don’t look like similar, with the same tone or with the same angle to me. Those events were also so crucial for Koreans that I perfectly understand the need to re-enact and explain. (without that crisis maybe we wouldn’t be watching kdramas today in each corner of the planet). In Europe we do hundred of movies/series about the same events and we still find new and compelling ways to relate World War II or the Great Depression.
Not every country especially in Asia is willing to do it, revisit the past especially we screwed up or weren’t on top the game. Telling glories is an easy task, revisiting the darks is an arduous job. And that’s exactly why for me, Korean dramas surpass their neighbors’s. By being more honest and more diverse.

I totally understand what you are saying. It doesn’t make sense to ask robots about a real person. Never understood people that put on Google search « what to offer to my boyfriend », « Should I break up with my boyfriend ». As if Google knows their boyfriend. Now they do that with chatGP and other AIs.

I decided to watch this only for 유인나 I did not had much expectations but I still managed to be disappointed.
The acting is below average the two leads are the worst and incapable to portrait real emotions. Crying scène were the worst, like kids crocodile’s tears. I literally watch two people watching themselves acting. They felt so fake. The support cast did not had enough screen time, substance, storyline to balance.
I was highly bothered by the constant music, the cutsy, comic punches, chimes… sounds were annoying and there were too little often and too many of them. Sound effects don’t make stuff funny, they can only support something that is already there, if it’s cringe they make it even cringier.
At 15 I might had like this, but as and adult it felt immature, shallow and stupid to me. Surface-leveled to the least. I rarely like those adaptions from comics and webtoons, I gonna add this one to the long list and accept that I am not the target audience for that kind of content . The characters had zero personality (no goals, no ambition,..even her fear of communément was surface-leveled, that guy only existence was his attraction for her). We know nothing important about them. They just going around some kind of fantasy. That story looks like something written by someone in her early 20 that has little to no experience real life and so cannot write something with a tiny bit of depth and truth. I know there is a big community in kdrama that only need comfort but real comfort isn’t in absence of reality. It’s how you accept, deal life by finding pleasure in real things. The main character start to have a tiny bit of awakening towards the end but it felt the story should have start with that.
Visually very hard to say it was not beautiful but it felt like everything was directed and filtered by an Instagram influencer. That drama had months of delay they probably during 6 months edited image per image to remove any sense of realness. Fake: it is again the feeling that gave me the photography, the lighting, the set design. Seeing life in pink isn’t literally getting every pink accessories you can find, putting pink everywhere…
Hard watch but if you can put your brain in your pocket for 10 hours you would be fine.

As we often say translation is a little treason. Very hard to translate perfectly either you distort the original content or either the translation don’t perfectly fit the new culture. It’s regularly impossible to have both right.

Way too long for no valid reason, the story was pretty simple and it still fell short.
The acting were not the greatest. The two lead were pretty bad, incapable to create real spark. I have not a minute felt compelled to their story. He was looking as an actor looking at himself acting. Never synchronized with the others. For her I am pretty disappointed as I realized after watching her in 3 different thing, she is basically always the same character but here it was blatant it was ill-fitted. Beautiful woman but limited range.
I had some expectations for the legal cases but they were not interesting to me. Not the side of law I am interested. Way too many clichés. My two motivations to watch this: Zhang Ruo Nan and legal content fell short!
Too many blatant misogynistic representations or signs and some little insidious ones were also snicked. Everything felt already seen somewhere else before. Does originally isn’t a valid criteria in Cdramas?
The night takes were beautifully executed and made but they enlightened only the parts of Shanghai that are brand new, very modern and not authentic. The sets were pretty and classy they selected really nice places (W hotel, office, restaurants) but as everything was so immaculate, without any stunts or real passengers; that kind of production choice made everything felt so fake.
Chen Xiao Yun was here for me the only positive, the violent scenes with the ex were badly written and acted but overall I did appreciate her style (hair/clothes), the way she carried herself throughout the drama.

Thanks. I didn’t understand all the negative comments about her being desperate. I found her a strong, beautiful and caring character. I believe sometimes you know in your gut that something feels wrong and the deepest truth is hidden behind and needs to be unveiled.

Good to know as I didn’t know whose country was sharing the tradition and who didn’t. Where I am giving money can be badly interpreted. Fiancé doesn’t money for example when in he meet his in laws maybe flowers or a bottle of wine for the mother and father if the introduction is taking place at home but that gesture is for anyone with proper education when invited. How long does the wedding event lasts in Philippines? Do you have fun?

I don’t fancy his look but acting should not solely be connected to looks, very good actors are bad looking, romances should portray also regular looking people. I have seen beautiful romances with less pretty actors and it make the story more realistic, authentic, raw and genuine. Having just pretty faces despite of talent make dramas shallow , empty or even fake.
Based upon Korean standards for male leads in a romance, the idleness of writers and directors, fan’s expectations, his inability to give the best on that genre he doesn’t have everything needed.

We are prone to judge based upon our culture, beliefs and own experiences. People are reacting when things are unfamiliar or contrary to their own values.
Many people that watch KDramas can come from traditional countries or can have traditional values and so have different expectations for what women and men can do.
And others lately are coming from more modern countries and have more modern values.
In my attempt to explain that dating culture varies strongly from place to place. I never said it would have been better if the man was the one going on several dates. When I mentioned imbalanced it was to say one has decided to pursue the other one to venture elsewhere. That imbalance can be one of the reasons people raise disappointment.
It is not how it works in many countries.
Concerning Korea based on what Korean
teachers have shared decision is made on
first date to pursue or not. Basically you have to close one door before opening another one if you are not a player. They are not going on several
dates at the same time, pursuing several
persons at the same time. Koreans are way too jealous for that. Here as he shown interest and was not seeing other people he is on the back burner waiting for his fate, waiting to get pick by someone. That isn’t an agreeable position, nobody wants that seat. Waiting to be compared to others. In his position I would never have give her a minute of my time or accept someone that comes back after weighing other options.
Accepting the date itself like in many place it’s already the promise, a sign of interest itself. “Casual dating” doesn’t even have a translation in many languages and is not something everybody do.
You meet once you decide to see again or not, if yes you try the relationship if it’s failed you go to someone else.

I don’t know about Japan but yeah in Korea and China people give money as a sign of appreciation. During weddings they collect money for the couple and you are really judged if you don’t give something substantial. In China there is an app red envelope to give money to friend, girlfriend, family. Relationship with money is very different than in Europe. In KDramas when they say all the time “It was expensive” we should translated more it’s valuable / quality because the word carry both senses for them.
Not every part of the wedding here is for everybody ; dinner the night before really close family is mostly done now as everyone is coming from far away. The day of the wedding if your just an acquaintance you are invited for church/city hall and a drinks, friends and family you
add the dinner and party. The next day again it’s for close relatives. Yes guests can leave early if they feel like it.
