I consider his dramas not being idols drama since it's an ensemble casts like in court lady, loss in kunlun mountain, she and her perfect husband, royal feast etc and many of his dramas the support characters get lots of screen times while he being ml get less screen times than them. I don't like romance focus dramas, yes his drama does have romance but it's not the focus of the show and that's what I like. That's why I don't consider those dramas idol dramas the focus are on the plot and characters and not on the romance. In fact the two main leads were separated for most of the show in court lady and only get back together towards the end. That's why there's a joke going from xukai's fans that the support characters in xukai dramas always get to shine especially sml. Sml and fl seems to have more screen time together than ml does with fl lol. Also being he's pair with older actresses, there's no shipping war going on compare to if he has work with more popular actresses or younger actresses.

I don't consider most of his recent stuffs are idol dramas since it's target audience are older. Loss in Kunlun mountain and she and her perfect husband might not do well but what i like is the roles he played. I watched him for his acting and hope to see him in more variety roles as he said he wants to focus on acting and that's how you become a serious actor. Whether the dramas succeed or not what matter is he get lots of chances to play different roles to give him more experience. In term of using his own voice, he was using his own voice in she and her perfect husband, don't know about loss in kun lun mountain, hoping to hear him use his own voice in his future dramas since he has a nice voice. I heard there's a new rule that actors now have to use their own voice otherwise they have to pay the voice actors to voice them? Any way xukai still have a way to go, but I think he's where he wants to be in his career, his hard working nature will get him far. I'm glad for tian ci since you said he gotten more popular after playing an ml. Line reading is important that's true, so like you said xukai needs to improve on his line reading so with each of his project he will improve as he has to use his own voice...

I remember xukai was rumor for this drama before, but the ml is replaced with tan jian ci now. It's all good I only knew tan jian ci from court lady and he was a support character in that drama with xukai as male lead. Good luck to him if it comes true he is going to be male lead in this drama. I was just objecting with your choice of words since to me xukai is a serious actor and I could imagine him playing in this type of drama. I don't even know synopsis for this drama but was kind of interested seeing xukai name as the rumor male lead.

What makes him a perfect husband, don't forget he's playing as a perfect husband does not mean he has no real feeling and doesn't get hurt. Fl was always with her ex and it was accepted but him being with his ex is suspected of something more when it was just a normal friendship. All I see here is ml finally grows a spine and he decides he is tire of waiting on the side for fl to accept him and he's giving the ball to the fl to make the decision to stay or go. He was the one that asked for the divorce so he is waiting for fl to come to him, but in the end it was still ml that made the bridge between the two of them.

Xukai doesn't do idol or romance focus dramas if you actually watch most of his past dramas you would see most of his costars are older and the romance is minimal that is why we rarely see him being shipped with those actresses since not many are interested in dramas that focus on plots and characters than romance. On the other hand I see bailu as someone who been in mostly idol and romantic dramas, so not understanding your reasoning why it can't be xukai to be considered for this drama if you think bailu can be play in this drama. I'm a fan of xukai because I like the scripts he picked since they rarely focus on romance and focus much more on plots and characters. His dramas tend be be fl centric though so I'm hoping to see him has an ml centric drama for once.

That's actually what I hated about how women are written in these dramas. Women have better things to do with their times than just being obsessed over men. That's one of my pet peeves when it comes to cdramas they written good sml but such caricature of sfl. Not all women are the same, the same as not all men so I don't have a problem of accepting there're are men who have better things to do with their times than chase after women or making eyes at women. I would have like the same treatment of females not all of them like to gossip or making a fool of themselves over men. This is not always the case but i noticed in many cdramas they tend to give fl's so many moments with sml, while making ml always loyal to fl and can't even have a normal relationship with sfl. That's why I like ml in this drama was able to stay friends with his ex after they broke up.

That's how his schedule is. It's only after filming his current drama or when it's about to finished filming that we'll here his next schedule drama. That's the case for his past dramas. So I would expect once he's done his filming for as beautiful as you then we will here his next schedule drama or rumor of his new drama.

Why don't I feel the same way. The first 35 eps I just felt so bad for yang hua always hiding his jealousy over qin shi and her ex. I don't get the double standard when it comes to yang hua and his ex, because in my opinion what he had with his ex was all in qin shi's mind and I was kind of amused how yao yao was able to get qin shi so worked up. I guess I just had total trust in yang hua and think qin shi wouldn't fall for yao yao's lies. Like you said after 35 eps my trust in yang hua is absolute and after qin shi has live with him for so long, she would've known what kind of person he's and would not believe he would change his feeling just like that. Just felt the ending could've been better if they have a longer reunion.

And how are they're more interesting by showing interest in women. Also what you said about being predictably boring is your own opinion. Not all viewers are watching dramas for romance so remove ml interest in women meaning he's bi or gay. Some viewers even ship mls with other guys, I think writers know exactly what they're doing and putting bromance in dramas sell since most viewers of these shows are women.

I didn't have a problem to understand ml's perspective or thought process. Also not showing interest does not mean they don't have sexual thoughts they're just better at hiding it just like how ml said he fell for fl right away as well as his thinking she was beautiful when he met her to her family. But I just remembered him being cold towards her and avoiding eyes contact when she was trying to make a pass at him. Or him quoting poem when he was drunk but being awkward when he was sober. In a way by not showing interest in women and making him interested in other things like nerdy things or have other pastime beside chasing women make him more desirable to women. Dramas are fake anyway so why do you watch these dramas if you're thinking that way about the mls lol. If the mls were teenagers then i would agree, but the ml is in his late 20s in this instance not showing interest in women he can be considered as sexually regress or not sexually active. Don't think too hard about it, it just a drama mean to be enjoy. I tend to watch more Asian shows than western shows because I don't like the constant showing of sex in western shows. This is the choices you make in what you watch because you know exactly what you're getting.

For bromance the source material is not bl, but the main characters are two or more male characters. And it does not has the focus on romance. Not that much difference between bl beside the fact the source material is not bl and has two or more male leads...

That's weird I also watch the actor in many dramas and I don't remember him not making eye contacts with other women beside this one. In term of making eye contacts, there's also depends on the situation if you purposely not make eye contacts because you want to show you're not interested if you're force to go on a date for example. But I do agree if you're talking to a colleague then that's a different thing. However I also noticed in Chinese drama they have a strict social prohibition between men and women. A man just showed a bit of interest and a woman automatically think he's interested in her and want marriage. The women in Chinese dramas rarely think of one night stand but automatically go for marriage, so it makes sense for guys in order to keep themselves from being caught by these obsessive women they act coldly towards women in general since ml in these dramas tend to be rich and come from a high society. They only show interest in women they like and that's usually the fl.

From my understanding that drama has like three mls and it's like a love rectangle, three mls in love with fl. I guess the script just wasn't something he would be interested in even though yang Zi is a good actress. No bl but dramas with bromance is fine there are two dramas recently that have bromance the blood of youth and a league of gentlemen just released both have more than one male leads.

I heard he was rumored for a bl before with gong jun and nothing came of it. As well as rumor with yang zi but he turned it down, it was for the drama loss you forever if I remember correctly. Anyway I don't mind seeing him in a bromance and it would be even cooler if it was a wuxia. Once upon a time in lingjian mountain was so fun, and I just love the bromance between him and 2ml ^^

Are you saying for other dramas ml also don't make eye contact with other females and not just this one. When you don't make eye contact it means you're not interested. Women in cdramas are kind of obsessive so I kind of understand about not making eye contacts otherwise who knew what kind of women you will attract. For this drama though it was established ml is uncomfortable in social setting so it makes sense for him to not make eye contact, as well as avoiding making eye contact. In term of normal he's just shy and awkward, ml also avoid making eye contact with fl if I remember correctly in the beginning when he first met her.

If you're talking about the aspect of being loyal to only fl, then you're right. Ml is always written as loyal and going far and beyond for fl. Fl on the other hand seems to have more freedom to be promiscuous liking more than one boys, etc. And only make her decision towards the very end making ml to wait for her. It can be frustrating when watching this type of plot. This drama kind of switch it up a bit and made ml and fl wait for each other at first ml was the one who made the effort and then towards the end it was fl. I like that they're making the fl showing her feeling to ml and act vulnerable for a change rather than staying the confidence woman in return to ml's feeling for her, so I don't have any complaints towards the end.

Are you sure, I remember ml's best friend told ml there was a girl he thought was really hot and he wants her to transfer to his department. And then there was another guy who was hitting on fl even though he knew she was married, as well as having an affair with his boss's wife. I don't watch too many romantic dramas but from my understanding these dramas are gear towards women and these male characters are popular with women because they're show to be cold and unfeeling, and it seems to be a trope to have very similar types of ml in these types of dramas. Ml in this drama is kind of a nerd and rather spend his time at home with his pet than dating, he's not the usual ml we see in romantic dramas who are usually suave and confident. Ml and fl kind of switch roles in this drama, fl is confidence and very sure about her sexuality, ml is shy and awkward as well as insecure. It's interesting to see the dynamics between this couple. Those who are uncomfortable with the roles switch might not like it.

I think this comes down to censorship. Also from my observation Asians are sexually regress. In the old day, it's even worse, women are expected to stay pure and a virgin before marriage. If a girl found pregnant with a child out of wedlock she could be stone to death. In such a society how do they represent sexuality. Nowadays it's not as restricted but I still feel asian society especially the Chinese being much more restricted in their sexuality than western counterparts.
