It wasn't a problem for me since I thought she fits the character. Also I really like xukai's acting, and he made up for her lacking, as well as most of the casts chemistry and dynamic as a team was great. This is an easy and lighthearted drama, those other dramas you like have people rated low for their own reasons that has nothing to do with this drama. You can't expect everyone to like the same things you do lol ^^

I didn't think the plot was bad, and I'm watching it again at the moment. I actually understood what they were going for, this drama span the period of rulings of three emperors of ming dynasty. What makes you not liking the plot if you don't mind my asking? Is it because it goes too fast since most palace dramas tend to focus on one emperor, but this one has the ambition of focusing on three in only 40 eps drama, maybe if it was allow to air the full version and not being cut you would have like it better.

Rumor about them dating was never confirmed since they denied it.

She's a newbie actress. I'm not sure how far you got into the drama, if you want to ask questions about what doesn't make sense for you, some people on here can help you understand better. You can suggest better dramas if you want, but going on here and complains about this drama when you can tell there are people who have watched this drama and like it, and some even rewatch it, just shows how much people love it. And in my opinion what you like might not be what I like anyway since I really like this drama.

He was called fatty, I didn't think he was that fat, but he does eat a lot. What is so wrong about liking food though, does that mean only skinny people can be show to like eating now.

She's a newbie actress, I didn't have a lot of expectations on her acting since the beginning since someone was pointing out how bad she was in another drama of her. For this drama I thought she fits the character, and if you like eSports, it's has a good focus on the game and team work. The relationship between the main and support couples are also good. It's a very easy drama to watch if you like the topic, likable characters over all.

You can't blame all on her though, since she was force into the marriage, but I agree once she's married to him, she should give him some face as an emperor and her husband rather than keeping everything to herself. It takes two to make a relationship work.

I'm watching it a second time and I like their chemistry, and this is when they haven't met. Also why do you think the plot is rushed, some people on here is complaining it's too slow. Also maybe you don't like xukai's acting because you don't like the character? I like every character he has portray, and his acting only get better as he gets into the character.

It's kind of cute the way zi Jin has a secret crush on zhan ji, she even runs after him to throws her handkerchief to declare her feeling for him. So zhan ji always has a secret admirer in the child Zi Jin, her reason for entering the food service was so she can escape marriage, but she is doing her best to attract the prince, isn't she being contrary lol.

Zi ping life story is so sad, I'm still emotional after watching it a second time. Her family having lower status is similar to Zi Jin's mother, that must be the reason why Zi Jin could empathize with her. Yue hua is so nice to zi Jin, so it hard to understand why she is so hostile to Zi ping, looking down on her. How they turn out later on make me admire Zi ping even more, her character grows so much. Yue hua on the other hand, it's such a puzzle, sure her mother abandoned her as a child, but she still has a father and later a teacher who took her under her wing. She has so many chances, but she doesn't learn and keep making mistakes, is this what you call pitying yourself just because life didn't deal you a good hand. This drama did a good job of showing two different women, and how their environment shape them. Zi ping is a success story due to her resilience in the face of hardship, while yue hua is an example of an upstanding individual who gradually loss her self worth due to her own resentment and jealousy.

I assume it's a big budget, the costumes for the main leads look great, xukai has so many nice costumes, looking forward to more news about this drama ^^

Yuan qi personality is so like shanggu, I really like him. He's a special kid. Even though shanggu didn't have her memory, she loves and cares for him like he's truly her kid, going to see his father to ask him to act like a father should. Baijue's coldness to his son made her question her feeling for him, and everything he stood for. Baijue was acting the bad guy all along to get her to hate him, and her turning her back on him must have hurt him much more than all the suffering he has endure before. That's the instinct of a mother, protecting her son at all cost.

So there has been other drama that has depicted the crown prince the same way like this drama has done, how does he treats his wife and son in that show? What frustrated me is the crown prince is so nice to everyone, but he doesn't appreciate his wife and son even though they went out of their ways to protect him in this drama. I saw a video on YouTube that talks about Zhu zhan ji's life that was really interesting. According to that video, the crown prince was only able to keep his crown due to the emperor's love for his son, like this drama has show. Royal feast has less scheming compare to story of yanxi palace I agree. Zi Jin and zhan ji relationship I like better compare to the one in yanxi palace between wei yingluo and the emperor, don't know whether it has to do with they're play by Wu Jin Yan and xukai or because I just feel their relationship is a real relationship, and she truly loves him unlike in yanxi palace where I think she's only with the emperor for survival, not because she truly loves him ^^

The imperial grandson's consort wanting to poison herself gradually, but accidentally poison her husband. However he kept quiet about it instead of confronting her. This in turn sour his relationship with her, but in my opinion he must've care for her and is hurt by what she did. She has her own reason for not accepting him because of her guilty conscience about killing a patient, but it turns out it was her family fault for increasing the dosage that killed the patient, because they want her to become the consort of the prince. Her defiance of her family is causing a rift in her marriage, and the prince has tolerated her coldness to him before, but after this stunt, he will always hold a grudge against her, and never let her in his heart again. She is not a bad person, but her character is kind of boring for me always sad or looks sick most of the time.

Yeah you're right. Zi Jin has too much pride, zhan ji as an emperor has been very patience with her, and much more tolerance than most husbands in his position. All he wants is her trust and her confidant, she asks him to let her be herself, but she didn't want to compromise and gives him the trust he wanted. However after they gotten over their misunderstanding, their relationship becomes a whole lots better ^^

So zi Jin was praising the crown prince for his charity work more than once. I think in term of being kind to servants he has a reputation, but that is when he was crown prince, however when he became emperor his kindness became a weakness. This made all those servants who were misbehaving took advantage of that weakness, and behaves badly. Zhan ji took after his father, he can be kind to servants, but he also has the strictness of his grandfather.
