This is one drama that has the least angst compare to most of his other dramas, and it's also set in modern time.

You're right it's really up to your preference which one you like more since both are high quality dramas that has the focus on fl, I happen to just like this drama more for it's content that cover a wider topic and not just focus on the king's harem ^^

I had the same problem when I first watched it, there are lots of dialogues that I have to pause to read lol. Didn't stop me from watching this drama without any skipping though. For some people the drama picked-up around ep 10 and fl became more mature after she went for training by herself.

Since I like this more than yanxi palace and do see the similarity between both fl. In my opinion both of the fl have very strong personality and are not sway by emotion. They have their own goal, the fl in this at first want to get marry to ml, but once she enter the palace and trap there, she chooses to make the best of her situation as a result she kept rising in rank, her way is to always do the right thing and in turn she gain lots of friends and allies. I agree she's a responsible person, if she only care about herself, she wouldn't feel so guilty about leaving the palace. This drama also depicts many side characters living outside the palace and that what I like about it compare to yanxi palace. Ml is a general so we get to see him in battle and using strategies to win, really loving that too ^^

I hope for this drama they'll have good sub and we don't have to wait too long for the sub.

He's afraid if she has her memory she will make the same sacrifice again as befits the chief god. He wants her to break off with him completely, by making her think he has change and not the guy she fell in love with. We can speculate he never meant for her to get back her memory of him, so she could move on and live a completely independent life with their son once he's gone.

I disagree with u. Fl in this drama does have a goal, she wants to do her part and contribute to her country by preventing wrongs done by the more powerful. Even when she left the palace with ml, she was thinking of ways to persuade him to comeback because of her duty to the queen. That was one of the major reason that cause a misunderstanding between them, and in my opinion fl loves ml but she consider her duty to her country more importance than him, and that's why ml and fl could only be together in the end when she finished her duty to the queen and king.

About fuheng and er qing, she knew he was in love with someone else, and she set ying luo to get caught by the emperor forcing fuheng hand, so I don't feel any sympathy for her. Also fuheng told her to give him time, so I guess her love for him is not very strong, it was only a year and she already reveal her true color. The emperor has many wives not just the empress, the blame goes to him when they turned bad since like I said how you blame fuheng to er qing turning bad. In my opinion you can still have a good marriage without love, women are practical creatures, in that time period what matter for a woman is survival. Ying luo is smart so I see her as someone who could give up love for survival, since she's a strong woman, and she knew what she has to do to get the emperor's love.

It's not a waste of time if you actually care about the topic. Maybe you're just more into romance since you like you are my glory. That drama has good rating due to the two main leads romance I suppose, I went to that page and read some comments there and someone was suggesting to skip all the boring parts to get to the main leads romance, and even tell the people there to rate it high to offset all the negative reviews lol 😆

Agree, the viewers care more for look than acting as a result many dramas are made with a poor script and bad direction since it's purpose is just to showcase good looking people.

I really like xukai character in fiys, and I think his acting is good there. Beside the fl whom I think could do better in romantic scene, I think everyone else was playing their part well.
