Ah I see... Yeah it's all a bit complicated. I've lost count of how many times I've rewatched this drama lol.…
I also rewatch many times. That was my conclusion before I watched the Viki translation. My understanding now is Baijue wants to get chaos power so he separate his core power which has his immortal power from his body, so he can absorb demon power since immortal power and demon power can't be mix. Also baijue created a body to house shanggu, and in turn shanggu was sleeping as a result that body gains her own consciousness. She was even able to talk to shanggu for a while while she was dreaming, so they're both share the same body but has different consciousness kind of like a split personality. The same can be said about qingmu, that body that absorbs demon power develops his own consciousness, and was able to take over baijue due to his power become damage when he split himself causing him to be frozen in the north sea.
My conclusion, baijue/qingmu and shanggu/houchi are their own persons and that's why houchi never prefer to herself as shanggu, or baijue when talking about qingmu and houchi like they're separate from them both. Houchi and qingmu are the part of them that are free to love since they don't have the duty of being true God or the responsibility to care for all beings.
Someone on Twitter said that fans on Douban are criticizing Mirror saying that YI Feng (Su Mo) is too much like…
Liking anorexic, unhealthy looking men, those people seems to have poor taste. I like my guy looking healthy and fit; yifeng and xukai are definitely not fat by any standard, it's their standard that's the problem.
Oh really? What major differences did you notice? Actually, generally speaking, subtitles miss out a lot of context…
I understand most of the story, but I kind of have a hang up when it comes to baijue/qingmu. I assume baijue separate himself so qingmu is his half, but it turns out qingmu is just his body that gain its own consciousness/god sense. The idea of a god sense was introduced in the Viki translation only, and I find that fascinating to me. The same for shanggu/houchi, houchi was a body that hold shanggu, and develop her own consciousness. So qingmu and houchi are their own person and not just a part of baijue and shanggu. That makes their love story even sadder, although in the end shanggu and baijue gain their memories, so qingmu and houchi in a way live out their love life in baijue and shanggu. I think some of the translations on wetv and YouTube don't always translate literally compare to the Viki translation, like the term demons and devils. I figure it out by myself but it does get confusing if you don't pay attention. My religion is related to Christianity btw.
After 2 episodes I am bored, everything feels fake, and the romantic moments were literally forced. I just read…
I like it from the first episode, but for some it took them a few eps to get into the drama. My advice try to watch up till ep 17 that when the main story started.
I'm a bit confused so if anyone could explain that would be great. (Specifically when they are indoors) How come…
From my memory, they can only see Zhao yao when the sun set, otherwise she'll be invincible to them. However while I was watching, I think the production made a mistake when showing the sunset, sometimes you can tell it's still sunrise lol. This drama has so many editing problems and toward the end it becomes even more noticeable.
ALP sucked bad because of Male Lead. This one sucked worse because of bad direction and soulless acting. No connection…
Alp is so good and one of the main reasons is the male lead. Also it's a drama you can rewatch many times and not get bore. Are you still that obsess over Xukai that you can't stop talking about him lol. I remember you also said you skip all his scenes, but I have to wonder about that since you can't stop talking about him. The same with yangmi in novaland pearl eclipse, it's weird to be that personal over an actor/ actress. If a drama is bad then just skip it all together, instead of coming back to talk badly about them or a show, so my thinking is you're just jealous of yangmi because she get to work with Xukai. Also your is only one opinion among many, stop acting like you're some expert when you're not lol.
Just finished rewatching this drama, and just want to say the Viki translation seems to convey a better understanding of the story compare to the other version on wetv and YouTube. Not saying it's perfect, but I understand a lot better after rewatching the drama about qingmu and baijue as well as houchi and shanggu. Also I think the reason this drama was able to resonate so deeply with me is due to how it's depiction of the gods and the devils, as it have some similarities to my own religion.
It has a happy ending, but as a viewer I want more. I'm both satisfied and unsatisfied since I want more couple…
Oh I thought you were commenting to me. Anyway I agree with you since I really want another ep to show case the main leads and their son being a family together, or just a few scenes showing them together would be fine, I just thought their happy ending was too short compare to all the suffering they went through...
If it's true, is he going to be in a love triangle with the main leads like Alp. Or does he has his own love lines. It's too early to tell, but i hope if this rumor is true it does not have any love triangle. I'm so tired of the love triangle trope, even though Alp was an exception and didn't make me annoy with the love triangle, it's a rarity when you can love all three characters in a love triangle ^^
ok, this is not a genre I usually prefer. I skipped it last year and had no intention of ever watching it. BUT..decided…
I agree with you about baijue being the most miserable in the whole series. I think that's why I love his character so much, I might've a thing for suffering character because I was so in love with fuca fuheng from story of yanxi palace for the same reason. Baijue has become my favorite character of xukai, he's so good at playing this type of character, the way he hides so much in his eyes but it still shows how much he was suffering. I adore qingmu, but baijue stands out more for me. The relationship of houchi and qingmu is so sweet, they're like high school sweetheart, that's so painful seeing them both suffer. With shanggu and baijue, their relationship is also painful because of the sacrifices they went through for each other, and they barely have anytime together.
For shanggu I don't fault her, baijue took away all her good memories of him, so her memory of him only stop at his coldness toward her, and also his rejection of her. Baijue made her believe he has change from a teacher she admire, so her feeling for him will not develop any further. In actuality, I thought she was really sharp to figure out baijue was hiding secret from her.
Watching this I just thought the storyline could have been so much better if the FL just have strictly cleared…
I felt she was restricted from doing what she wants to do because of the prince position. He pretty much use his position to force her to follow his commands or threatened her with sexual harassment if she didn't comply. And in this time period having a title of a prince gave him so much power over her, even taking her as his concubine if he wanted to. There was a scene where 4 men ask for her hand in marriage, but in the end only the 2 princes were consider due to their higher rank, it was only due to ml and fl quick wit that she was able to escape from that situation.
It's not like she didn't made known her feeling, he knew she is in love with someone else but he still made a nuisance of himself.
This was adapted from a novel, and the focus of this drama was on the fl working in the palace, the rules of the palace is so strict that it impossible for her to marry unless the king/queen let her go and that's what happens at the end. As a result she realizes she can only advance and do her best. I didn't feel it was draggy because I like it when they're not together, she's really talented in matter of the court while he's such a good general, their romance wasn't the focus so it didn't matter too much for me. I like it when he decides to pursue his career instead of being single mindedly about marrying her. He became more capable and I think that's a good thing they broke up for a while.
That might be true about the gaming, but the actors still has to copy the motion of playing the games, otherwise…
Yeah I get that. I'm also saying the actors did a good job acting out the role as gamers even if they're not actually playing the games. They still look like they're playing the game for real, for those who are not experts in gaming ^^
It has a happy ending, but as a viewer I want more. I'm both satisfied and unsatisfied since I want more couple…
I wouldn't go so far to say it didn't live up to satisfaction, just the happy ending is too short. I would like for a family reunion between shanggu, baijue and their son, not the short happy ending we got. Hope for a season 2 with the main casts ^^
That might be true about the gaming, but the actors still has to copy the motion of playing the games, otherwise…
I don't think they were laughing at the game in particular, but I did see some comments complaining about the way the actors were playing like amateurs, and not how real players played.
