I think you are missing the point of the story. He made the sacrifice because he didn't want to see her making the sacrifice. If you think about it, her fate is cruel compare to the rest of the true gods who live much longer. She was born to take on the fate of chief god that was abandoned by xuanyi, the former chief god. She was only 10,000 years old when she die to save the three realms, baijue was feeling so guilty for making her accept the chief god position. And no he never plan to make her fall for qingmu, or even boxuan. There was a dialogue when houchi was talking to qingmu and she said boxuan treated her like a sister, so he planned to sacrifice his life and letting her live a normal life so she didn't have to be the chief god again with duties of chief god. She wouldn't have to feel guilt if she didn't know about the tribulation of chaos, and that is why he took away her memory, so no he never want her to feel guilty for his death. In a way it's nobody's fault, it just she was born to a cruel fate and because of baijue's love for her, he want to change her fate even if was to give his own life to do it. He want her to think him a bad guy because he doesn't want her to feel guilty for his death.

It get better, i think for me when his brother came back and the team has to face some conflict in their past to move forward that when i start to really love the plot and the whole team as a whole. For fl, it was gradual i didn't like how she always act cute, but i came to accept her character and also her contribution to the team. The chemistry between leads is natural and their relationship is cute, it went from him teasing her to a much more mature relationship in my opinion.

Maybe you like his good look lol, someone was saying they have second lead syndrome for his character, and i was rolling my eyes since i didn't see how other than if you like the type of guy who ignored his girlfriend, and only remember her after she showed up. He the type of guy who don't value what he got until he lost it, but then it's too late to salvage the relationship then he start to act like he cares. I'm glad tong yao made it clear that she is over him, and didn't give him false hope.

I also find the drama is too short to resolve the conflict between the human and the kunwu clan. Lixuan is half human, half kunwu but his origin is just ignored, the dragon emperor just ignored him even though he's his nephew. Before the drama air, the number of eps was much longer, but when it finally air the number of eps got cut down to 28, so i been wondering whether they cut down the story as a result i have a feeling there is more to the story than what we gotten. That one of the reason i didn't like youlian because she was manipulative, she loves him but didn't trust him, i can tolerate their relationship because lixuan loves her. Good that you like lingjian moutain, it's a fun drama and poke fun at everything you can think of ^^

This is a slapstick comedy. Fl is a fun character, she is always overreact and acting out, but she also hides a serious side that she rarely shows.

You shouldn't care too much about rating drop. It does not influence our enjoyment of this drama at all, but i do agree it does deserve a higher rating. It would be nice to see the rating get to the level of ten miles since i thing it's just as good or even better in some instances ^^

Don't trust on douban rating since i don't even see it. There were a lot of 1* rating from when the 1st ep started so i have to wonder who feel so threatened by this drama that they have to make a false impression on this drama, so people can't enjoy for themselves ^^ Give it a rest, those who follow this drama don't care about douban rating, and judge this drama on its own merits. The same can be say for mdl rating, some dramas are not so good, but still get high rating because of the popularity of the actors rather than on the drama itself, while the opposite is true for a lower rated drama.

Not everone will like it i suppose. I was watching this while watching ancient love poetry as a go to while waiting for the other drama. It took a few eps for me to get invested in it, now i consider chengxiao and xukai chemistry is really natural, and even though chengxiao gets many complains about being expressionless, for this character it fits her and i watched up to 20s ep so far, the support characters are so much fun. About the ex, i didn't have a good impression of him compare to the rest, not only ignoring his girlfriend at his convenience but also underestimating her by suggesting to lose to her on purpose etc. Just have to get over ancient love poetry first, so i can finish this drama too ^^

I agree, the human world hurt him too deeply. His parent both die there, and finding his master was responsible for his mother death was the last straw. The other realm is so much better, they could live forever in that realm, the only sad part is they have to be away from their friends. I think his power could've been even stronger if he didn't lose his healing power, i think that's the special power of a hybrid too bad. Once upon a time in lingjian mountain is a slap stick comedy, i love it but for some it might not be to their taste, hope you will like it ^^

Interesting point you have. For me i was satisfy with the ending knowing jing jian and fengran will have a chance to be together, and gujun will have a chance to be reborn. With the ending even though it's short we're left to our imagination to fill in the blank. I feel this drama was too short so i agree with you, if they have a family reunion it would be perfect, a lot of bonding time between shanggu , baijue and yuanqi would be nice since they were separated for so long. I love the main casts in this drama, the support casts were also great, compare to this drama and ten miles i like the support casts in this one more, muguang was a disappointment but then i don't remember liking the heavenly emperor in ten miles either. I like wuhuan as a villain over the other female villain in ten miles, who is stupid and annoying. In term of the leads i love their love story, and for me baijue/boxuan/qingmu love for shanggu/houchi is everything. In all his incarnation he never left her side until the last arc when he decides to sacrifice his life for her, it very unusual to see ml becomes a bad guy kind of to change the fl fate. I like shanggu/houchi as fl and i like her personality a lot, so i would say i like her more than baiqian, she's much more lively and willing to go all out to pursue the guy she likes, but when the situation call for it she can be just as bad ass and she's not a pushover, when she think he betrayed her she broke up with him, and get even. Her character is so strong whether she's shanggu or houchi. Baijue as ml has lots of my empathy, i think compare to ml in ten miles and ashes of love he suffer the most in term of emotional heartbreak having the girl he loves misunderstood him and injured him with her words, as well as being injured by her physically. His actions compare to the other two were more easy to forgive because in the end he did it all for her as a sacrificial love, so she could change her fate.

I don't agree with you. He doesn't love her for her look, but for her personality. A lot of people who watched this also fell for fl personality as well, not just me. This drama is a first for me that has ml getting the most compliment in term of look rather than fl by the characters in drama lol. Also the constant disrespect as well as gossip about fl from other people in her second life from calling her ugly to said she looks like a servant when she was known as a goddess was just too much, i just feel so bad for her. It's a good thing she has such a strong personality, and didn't let those people get to her. In term of look she is cute and has a beautiful smile, i also like her natural look when she has no make up on.

I'm saying one of them would've to sacrifice again, and the other person has to pray to the ancestral god to bring them back, since it show at the end he's willing to bring back baijue as the god of fire with his memory intact if it happens again. Really, the way they said it casually without really knowing what it's about
made me think it was just a rumor, and their only knowledge is the chief god of chaos can solve it without knowing what she has to go through. The ancient god is too cruel if the chief god of chaos existence is to keep sacrifice for the whole world lol 😓

That was probably just a rumor since none of them actually live through it, otherwise they would've know about it rather than being unprepared for it. The first god of chaos rebel and didn't go through with the tribulation of chaos, the second one was shanggu but the tribulation of chaos wasn't complete and baijue has to use his power to suppress it until the end when he sacrifice himself. If it does come back, i think it's alright now since the ancient god listens to shanggu prayer and give her back baijue so that show he's merciful. They could do the same thing again, but i doubt it, through the tribulation of chaos, it's about the chief god's willingness to sacrifice their life to save the three realms and shanggu has done as she was instructed, and baijue carried through with it and sacrifice his life for the three realms as the ancient god intended.

It's easy to say they could solve things together since we're not in their shoes . Qingmu and houchi could do it because they don't have responsibilities and duties to the three realms, when they had the thunder trial she could say to him ''if you live i live, if you die i die''. They both can love freely, but baijue and shanggu are true gods, they have their duties and responsibilities as true gods, they can't do the same. In the first arc, when tianqi found out about the tribulation, zhihan told him let talk it over with baijue and zhifang, tianqi refuses because to him both of them are true gods and they are responsible for billion of lives, they will not put her life over them, so his solution was to destroy the three realms in order to save her as a result yuemi died saving his life. Baijue solution is to sacrifice himself to save shanggu and the three realms, shanggu also found out and decides to sacrifice herself the same way baijue was planning. Before she disappear she told him to take care of the three realms in her place. Baijue told gujun he was going to die in shanggu place, so if shanggu lives, there will be hope for the three realms. In conclusion because of their duties as true gods they have to care for billion of beings and not free to love like normal immortals. In the case of yuanqi, he grown up without the care of his mother for 100 years, so he is an adult in term of human years, i do feel bad for him but he is a resilience kid and the people who took care of him do care a lot about him since he's so spoil by them. Shanggu does see him as her own kid, i don't doubt that. In her talk with zhiyang, i think she feel she is not capable of caring for him and that why she left yuanqi to tianqi and zhiyang care in her place. It would be nice for them to have a family reunion i agree rather than just baijue and shanggu meeting at the end, but i'm still glad it's a happy ending ^^

I only watch to the ep when he declared his feeling for her, haven't finished the drama yet however i don't consider their relationship as toxic whatsoever. Also he told her once when she got 1 game suspension he doesn't care that she's female, what he care about is her being a teammate and contributing to the team. In my opinion tong yao is effected to opinions of people around her too much, for him complimenting her he was doing it as a captain to a new teammate who has low self-esteem rather than because she was a girl, and i feel he would've done the same if the new teammate was a boy who was as low-self-esteem as tong yao was. About confessing his feeling to tong yao, he was planning to wait until after tournament end, but he was afraid she will hate all e-sport players if he didn't confess at that time, so i understand his feeling. About them dating, i don't think it should matter as long as they don't let their relationship affect their performances. Also about hiding their relationship from the fans, when i first heard that he told her to keep their relationship a secret i was kind of disappointed. I don't know whether tong yao was dissapointed as well, but for me if a guy truly loves me he should declare his feeling openly, and make it known to his fans that i'm special so they will respect our relationship. If he truly cares about her he should be able to protect her from his fans, fans should mind their own business and not interfere in their idol private affairs that is my opinion.

I always have this idea that she wasn't that formidable when going against the true gods, so it took me by surprise when she said her power is stronger than shanggu. I think she hype herself up because she became a devil god, and in my opinion they want to punish her and not kill her otherwise they could've do a 1vs1 instead of going 4vs1.

I think she already made the decision to not separate the lovers, but her talk with fengyan made her change her mind about making fengyan her spiritual beast, and chose wuhan instead. The phoenix spirit of fenyan that she gave back to the feng clan leader was a fake, since she already set fengyan free to be with her lover.

I agree his love is selfless because he does it without getting anything in return. He made her think of him as a bad guy to ensure he could change her fate, that is in my opinion a selfless love and not selfish at all like some comments on youtube. Not only does he save her life, but he also ensure the three realms are also safe ^^

In my opinion, both houchi and shanggu is the same person so i think he loves her as shanggu/houchi.
