I'm not sure i understand your point of view. Compare to story of yanxi palace where the fl went in there with the intention for revenge. The fl in this drama is not cunning because she's not use to the machination of the court, she was sent there not of her own choice but she still has to navigate this court life. She made lots of friends whom she helps and whom help her in return. She is more realistic in my opinion compare to the fl in yanxi palace who was too bold even as a servant. She has a good heart, so when she can help someone in need she will, that's how she was able to make lots of friends in the palace as well as befriending royalty, so when she's in trouble they would help her back.

I feel the king push lots of expectation on the crown prince as he's the heir, but he's not able to live up to that expectation. I actually thought he's a good husband compare to other king, he's attentive to the quuen and we can see his love for her compare to consort yan and others.

I haven't read the novel, but i'm glad to hear main leads and some other couples will get their happy ending. That's a surprised about the last couple Luqi and fuyin.

Ying ying is too good for the Lu family she's always the one who is bailing them out. It seems she will be sacrificing her future for her family. Zi fang is a fool for not realizing how good she is to him, he's going to regret his decision when she is marry to someone else.

I disagree with you, because i'm enjoying the plot of this drama alot. Yanxi palace was also good, but i don't enjoy the harem politic compare to this. Fl in this drama is more realistic compare to yanxi palace, she is smart and capable and more relatable because she has human weakness like everyone else. I feel i have to push myself to watch each ep of yanxi palace, while with this one i'm anticipating each episode.

Don't let others tell you how good it's, you should try watching a few eps yourself. For me this drama has many interesting characters and the focus isn't on only the main leads romance, there are many side couples. I love this story line, because you really will get a feel for this period and the lives of the royals and ordinary people. It's not everyone cup of tea since i seen lots of people been complaining about the screen time of ml. I'm enjoying the storyline so far since my focus is not just on their romance but also on the character growth of ml.

Do u think so, i'm enjoying their screen time together being they don't get much time together. Chumu is becomes much more responsible after falling for furou, but in the end he's still a playboy after all. What do you want for the leads to be exactly, they are two people who been kept apart due to the machination of forces beyond their countrol. Both of them want to get marry back in ep 5 and only gotten their wish in ep 30. All furou wanted was to leave the palace after she got in, while all chumu has ever wanted was to marry furou, so long story short they're just a young couple being push apart, and finally got a chance to be together and took it. I knew it will be short but i still feel it's worth it, at least they're finally married ^^

Did you read the novel, i have expectation that this drama follows novel so i'm still holding out for a nice ending for everyone involve. In my opinion up to 30 eps the drama is getting more interesting with chumu and furou being separated again.

Also furou sister landed herself in that situation being pregnant with your mother's murderer is laughable, although i don't blame her. The brother shouldn't tell the sister in the first place. He was the only one in that family chumu let on about the culprit, but he just blurted out without thinking. Fuyin could have a nice life marrying to that scholar, instead of seeking revenge.

You said inconsequential but i find lots of interesting plot points as they were traveling like them finding out about bandits terrorizing the farmers or officials taxing people just in the name of the king. Also it's a nice change to see 2 people who are not just portray as noble and are perfect in every way, but two young people who been separated for so long and just want to be together. I knew they both would be force return to the palace eventually, and will help the people they met along their way, but it still nice to see them finally get some needed time alone.

What i got out of this drama is status is everything. Imagine being force to marry to a good for nothing like lord liang who reputation is the worse because he's royal compare to two capable generals.

I guess i'm used to fl being reserved and cold than being forward due to watching lots of wuxia dramas way back in the day, and the saying males and females can't have too much interaction if they're not married, otherwise the females are ruin. The kind of things a girl has to go through in those days due to society expectation of them compare to girls in this day and age.

Girls back in those days are so pithiful, imagine being ask to marry by that many guys, but the decision who you could marry to is not yours to make. Furou is a court lady, so the decision of her marriage has to be made by the king/queen, reminiscent of yanxi palace when fuheng has to ask the king to marry the fl and was force to marry someone else he doesn't love. Lucky for us both chumu and furou are smart people and able to outmaneuver both prince zhou and lord liang.

I'm waiting for more eps so i can watch all in one go rather than having to wait for so long. This is a drama where i can go back to watch the earlier eps and still find it interesting. Hope the quality will stay for the whole drama.

She is not a typical young woman either. She manage both her family business, they're the ones who depend on her for their livelihood.

Xukai don't do many modern dramas, so i'm looking forward to this one. I also like the genre.

I saw it on youtube, i don't know how to link though. Maybe you like girls who are more forward like princess xin nan. I think princess xin nan was able to act that way because she's royal, she's used to getting what she wants even going after the guy she likes. Furou and her sister come from a respectable family, so they're more reserve and also i feels their behaviors reflecting the value of young women in that time period, where they're expect to keep their virginity until marriage. Fuyin only change after she went to get revenge for her mother.

Ml does change for the better, however fl has to work in the palace so their time together are not much. I also think the same, this drama does feel like ml and fl against the world. I hope the pay off is worth it since this is a 55 eps drama, so it's still a long way to get to the happily ever after we all hoping for.
