I have an active fan since early mid 2000's, anime/manga from the 90's brought me into live action adaptations…
Great point about nostalgic bias, sometimes it's not even to do with the drama itself, I was just in a good place in my life when I watched it so it brings back good feelings.
I'm an Ahjumma, not just as a drama fan but in real life, so here's a story from when I was younger....I took Taekwondo lessons and we would bow to our teachers, seniors, each other, even on entering/exiting the dojang. Normally, it was easy to separate this habit from life outside of class but at a social event I helped host there were people from class and the outside world, I was bowing at everyone as I greeted them and thanked them for coming. I didn't even realise I was doing it and bemusing people like the bouncers (security staff) at the club until my flatmate pointed it out (and totally mocking me). I'm not a wannabe though. Am I?....hmm...recalling being slightly obsessed over lettuce wraps after watching "let's eat".
Fun article. Thank you. Loved your dedication to your adopted Ahjumma.
I'm only adding on my list as Dropped to be thorough. According to my watch history, I've watched 8eps, almost no recollection of it. Except the friend's staircase. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Poster looks like WWWSK, title is similar to Once we get married, doppelganger synopsis reminds me of Mask. What will it be? Don't mind, I liked all of the above.
I think what frustrated me most about the last episode was not only was it told in flashbacks adding next to nothing…
I totally agree with everything in your rant. I particularly liked the expression "passive as a dead eyed fish". I know her character is not as strong as she seems but for someone who is supposed to be a smart and responsible individual, it felt like she needed saving several times when she should have been firmly in the driving seat, as the superior at work if not as a gf.
I'm enjoying the show BUT the whole of episode 3 seems ridiculous to me, perhaps our medical systems are different…
Yes, the opposite effect. I only genuinely started feeling emotional after Chan Young told Jin Seok. All the time before that, I couldn't stop thinking "this isn't your news to share" about Mi Jo.
I'm enjoying the show BUT the whole of episode 3 seems ridiculous to me, perhaps our medical systems are different but is patient confidentiality not a thing in SK? Why would Dr not tell the patient the results directly?
I'm at episode 25. Struggling to get through the last third, not because it's boring, but I've become so invested that I'm really nervous for the protagonists. My flight or fight response has booked plane tickets.
Sorry, just felt like I needed to shout that. What fun, loving the love shapes and geometry. The only missing example, Third wheel option 3, I could think of right now is Strong Woman DBS.
My favourite love square is not Asian drama, it's Miraculous tales of ladybug 🐞😂

I was enjoying 1-10, 11-12 less so.
