The space and time this gives to emotions is everything. Such a good film.

Depends on how you view it. There is hope. But they take the same action as in Bungee.
The Thai version is MELODRAMA. The emotions are intense.

Writing about Bungee in comparison with the Thai remake, Dew, which reverses Bungee's homophobia and has no use for the original's misogyny, and the connections between homophobia and misogyny in this movie become clearer and clearer. They're sides of a single coin.

It wasn't though. It's clear the age gap isn't acceptable to either of them - that's why they jump - and he's still gay. They're recognising each other as their young, and male, selves; when they're underwater at the end it's two men.
Both the age gap and gender switch are in the deeply homophobic original, which went from a het uni couple to a teacher and his male student. Those two jump so they can be het.

The plot on this is so OTT it's gone into orbit... and then it calmed down for a moment and oh the emotions.
Previews suggest it will be heading out into the solar system soon :D :D :D

This wants to be a twenty episode drama.

i'm just over five hours in and we've had an entire lakorn's worth of tropes already. it's mad.

i should have realised a remake of a US movie by a US corporation would end up being more US than Thai. some of that music especially really was too much.
a bit like US versions of Asian food...

maybe the best "genre" to put this in, for those who like to know what to expect, is Oppressive high school with strange stuff going on (small cast), like Enigma (or what The Eclipse was billed as but didn't really pull off).

two episodes in and between the swimming club/pool setting & Jay reminding me of Earth K, i'm currently considering this series as what happened if In and Korn got muddled up in their reincarnations and returned as different species instead of, say, adorable gay penguins as planned.

More thriller/suspense than horror IMO. Some very unsettling and tense moments.
