Was there Bollywood in the plot amongst all the lakorn? I haven't seen enough to know. Or maybe it's just fairytale? I really liked it, the ML's whys made a lot of emotional sense. (Note for the squeamish - it's not horror and "curse" doesn't fit. The Secret of Saree would be better as its English name.)
I have a trust-worthy friend helping who loves these sorts of rabbit holes. Collecting info here: Ai Long Ni, Arm Sappanyoo and Porsch Apiwat. (Waiting on chai/mai chai for the leads Meen and Ping.) upcoming TBA: The Ocean Eyes, Mew Suppasit and Tul Pakorn Will hopefully be some more with Thailand equalising marriage soon <3
I really liked this. It's slow and quirky, at times surreal. Horror and suspense are misleading tags. More like slice of life with humour and a ghost and . And that last part is what's most important and I don't know how to talk about it without giving things away. It won't be for everyone but if you're willing to walk with it, it's very much worth the time.
It's not so much that it picks up - it's a slow film throughout - but that it gains depth. Perhaps it wasn't the right time, or maybe it's just not for you.
Unpretentious low-brow humour that never tries to be anything else, a mor lam soundtrack and loud ladyboy madness. It's certainly lifted my spirits tonight :)
Does this perk up after the first couple of episodes? It doesn't have any of the spark I'm used to in Thai series and movies. Given the premise I find myself waiting for it to go comedy or lakorn but it just keeps plodding along.
Thank you so much for sharing how you were able to process the frustrating ending. I am going to do what you did...and…
Glad my vent/organising my thoughts helped you :) I really hope this is the start of long careers for Parky and Beck, together and separately. They were so good.
and here i thought i was settling in for something on the lighter side to offset a lakorn... charisma, kindness and a gently beautiful story with some big emotions
