More a tragedy with supernatural and horror elements than proper horror. Jump scares but I didn't find it too frightening. Likay performance plays a role.
Not sure if they were hinting at Tamboon and Phee as a future couple but they clearly missed the much better choice of something developing between Tamboon and the long suffering Nopphorn. They'll bond over his comments about his boss.
If anyone finds this available to stream somewhere, would you please let me know? Thanks :) (Search results show it was on the festival circuit last year.)
oh look, people who will enthuse about this too :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbDlW3i8JVg i listen to it so much i made Thai + romanised Thai subtitles for it. may as well turn an earworm into language study :D
ohmigod there's Thai content. I mean, for this subject there HAS to be, right? But for trending articles on the site? :D Nang Nak is worth braving. It's very atmospheric and that atmosphere is creepy but it's a great traditional mae Nak. Actress playing Nak was also scary teacher Waree in The Eclipse and Thun's fantastic mum in He's Coming to Me. Great article on fascinating subjects. Thank you for putting this together.
Sorry that it took me so long to watch this but omg it was so good! tbh I am glad that they didn't lean very heavy…
Given the number of roles I've failed to recognise her in, I am convinced Piploy is a shapeshifter :D The two sides of Namsine only confirm this. Her ability to disappear into a role is remarkable. Fa teen-crushing on Ajin makes sense but I agree, it wasn't needed.
Rewatching this and able to background all of the noise of the "mystery." What really stands out is the quality of the acting, especially in their moments of vulnerability, how they hide it, and the different ways these young men are coping (or not) with being 18 and gay.
Thai speakers: what are Akk and Aye actually calling each other? The English translations are "bigfoot" and "shortstop".…
Can't remember it exactly or find it again (Prapt put two or three small excerpts on Twitter), but their height difference is referred to in the novel. These nicknames play on that. It's not baseball or yeti, just words with short and big in them. Sorry I don't remember better.
IDK, but I'm watching the first episode right now and contemplating dropping it even if I'm watching it for Ohm…
It's so much more than a "weird comedy". The comedy is outrageous and it flips our understanding of what's going on several times. I don't know, maybe some miss out on its substance because of that? Did you finish or drop? Ohm has screen time and an important role which uses the nuance and range of his acting skills.
Oh you're very welcome :) And I feel much better now about my I'm not sure what to make of this reaction. Cause I had at least five takes I think, some of them indeed contradictory, which left me unconfident after reading other people's far more confident declarations. That big last scene was tremendous. There was so much skill from everyone in it.
I love both coming of age/youth series and short films where the brevity of a familiar story carries stronger emotions exactly because it's not weighed down with details. And of course these actors.
