I feel like he lost his mind and became hasty when he saw the skins of his parents.
Sometimes I feel ZH is the one getting played around by all the parties involved and he doesn't even realise it.
ZH is definitely the pawn of the masked man. The masked man keeps an eye on him always and allows him to commit mistakes to give him a sense of agency and feel like he's in control. But not enough agency to meddle with what he has planned. That's why he took out the weapon from the incense. 🤔 But I'm not sure if the masked man is the marquis or someone really powerful and spy-like who wants the marquis dead. That servant Zhuang Shan is also sus, maybe he's in a different team and the person who keeps an eye on ZH.

True i understand how it feels like that. I see the character as very rageful and impulsive hidden under a pleasant facade. Hopefully they will show that he has learnt from it and controls himself better.
They are not the sharpest. As demonstrated right above 😂
What a shameless person, that "leafofflower"/"gem"/ [coming with a new name a pfp next time to look like another person].
I asked her not to call me disrespectful nicknames but didn't listen, i explained her doubts but she said her small mind cannot read. 🤣 now she has blocked me so basically she will block anyone who will answer her doubts. And keeps writing the same thing over and over by changing names and pfps to look like many opinions.
That's how gambling works. And it's definitely not 80 percent luck.
Firstly don't call me sweety. Secondly this is what I'm talking about, that is probabilities. He planned to save all of them and didn't know there were traps inside. They could've found the switch easily and no one would've died if there were no traps. Next, he planned the exact time with the incense stick to keep the door open, when he saw the ministers were wasting time he urged them to decide faster (details matter). He planned to cover the time in between the falling of the door by talking (a skill). Even for the bad guy to not kill him at the moment there was a desperate plan B with Gao Ming aiming to create a distraction. When one plan doesn't work, he immediately moves to plan B. It might be too spontaneous for you tho. You are right, there's no defense because you think you are right but there's no way to convince you otherwise. Anyway, won't reply further, bye.

Some parts of strategy always involves playing with probabilities, aka, gambling, even in real life war strategies. Unless everyone is an npc chesspiece, then ofc it's 100 percent strategy.
I know, each character feel like an actual living person and not an npc that the ml encounters to complete a quest.…
In fact these kinds of dramas are not usually big hits exactly due to this reason, because every character behaves like an npc chess piece of the omniscient main character, it feels dry and mechanical. The living and breathing rawness of the characters is what took this one to the next level and made it a hit.
Can we set aside plot for one minute and praise the character writing? Every character is so consistent and intriguing,…
While we're at it, the lighting and sound designing is just gorgeous. The dark scenes are dark but never so dark that you can't see or so lit that it looks artificial. The interplay of light and shadow is absolutely chef's kiss. And background music is so, so good, has such a great tempo and creates so much of the tense atmosphere. Absolute cinema.
Can we set aside plot for one minute and praise the character writing? Every character is so consistent and intriguing, even the ones who appear for a few minutes. Plus the good acting added so many layers to it.
