Title The Untamed
The novel is the complete thing, not to be missed, I'd recommend you start there!! I'll not even comment on how…
I found it kind of boring as well, don't know if it's because I had already read the novel when I started watching it, and I found the skimming through the content so fast disturbing, especially compared to the more relaxed paced of the live action drama!

FYI, The Untamed voice actor for Wei WuXian is the same as the audio drama, whereas The Untamed voice actor for Lan WangJi is the same as the donghua!! :)

I think the official audio drama can be purchased here (though not sure how, personally I don't speak Chinese so it's difficult for me) https://www.missevan.com/mdrama/drama/22602
Also, here's the link for the unofficial English translation group (I think they have info on how to get the raw files elsewhere or you may ask/search )

There's currently 3 seasons+extras on the audio drama, and I think it's still airing, but only has a couple of extras to air before finishing!

That's in the novel, we're talking about what happened in the live action drama, The Untamed, instead!

My theory, as others have proposed, is that wwx came back into mxy's body, but his soul made his face look like his old self (in the sense that "people's souls can be 'read' in their eyes, expressions, face"). I say his face, and not body, because obviously he's not in his old body, except for the fact that the body is, you know, intact, he doesn't have the Wen seal's scar in his chest.

Now another point I would like to make, is that the creators made this whole thing vague on purpose for the very same reason the made other things in the script vague as well: the f censorship. From what I understand, raising the dead & resurrecting is a banned theme in Chinese tv, especially if the hero/protagonist is doing them! It's for this same reason they vaguely made Wen Ning not die and brought back as the first conscious living corpse ever made (as in the book), but implying he never actually died, but his conscience/spiritual awareness was temporarily lost, and WY brought it back somehow. (A support for this is that he can be seen eating in the drama, in 2 occasions, whereas in the novel he regretfully couldn't eat! But he could cook, lol!)
And for the same reason the bodies controlled by the Stygian seal/yin metal are depicted as puppets, aka ex cultivators that were cursed by the evil magic/energy and lost their spiritual conscience or something.
I'm not very clear on that myself anyway, I was rewatching the first episodes today and tried to pay more attention and make sense of it, too. The only thing I'm 95% sure (still leaving a 5% of doubt out) is that it has to do with the Chinese government censorship. :(

No kissing or outright confessions, but there *are* confessions if you look for them. But for me as a viewer I…
For people who need outright love confessions, they are there in the character songs, clear as day!! :) (Also, did you guys see the new WuJi song, wangxian version, with the lines of supposedly Lan Zhan's diary in it????)

OMG LOVED IT SO MUCH, at first the 50ep seems like a long drag but then it captivated me immediately and i love…
The novel is the complete thing, not to be missed, I'd recommend you start there!! I'll not even comment on how perfect & satisfying it is (because I'm definitely biased, lol)! You may want to rewatch the drama after you finish it, to see the hints & Easter eggs that you missed!

If you're REALLY not into reading novels, I'd say go to the audio drama, is the only other faithful AND complete adaptation there is, and it's 90% subbed into English already!!

The manhua is also really faithful to the novel, but it's only about 30% complete, it will take YEARS before it covers all the novel content.

As for the donghua, is fun for what it is, many people SWEAR by it, and it's really well made, but still, no bl content there, and it's still not the complete story, the next season will be out on 2021 maybe. But it's good and it's short (23 episodes total), so you can watch it between the other staff easily.

It would be even more helpful if there was number of people next to each category rated! (And if the average score was a weighted average, based more on the number of people who have actually watched at least 50% of the drama, but I know this is a long shot and maybe too complicated to implement.) Thanks!
