is there romance in the drama?
There is a little, but it’s more like a subplot and doesn’t get evolved until the latter half. However, I still recommend this show for its beautiful scenery and embroidery! Nice healing drama

Title Returning Pearl Spoiler
Could you spoil it?
Do you mean the last episode? I’ll try my best to remember. Basically Jing Yuan spends half of it being nostalgic with the Empress (calling her mother for the first time, blah blah). Then he cooks for Lin Er and they’re teary and she holds him and says she doesn’t want to go back. But he pushes her away and then the “system” talks and says it’s time for her to go, or else she will disappear forever too. Then she wakes up back in modern day surrounded by assistant and director. They ask if she’s ok and if she can go on filming. She says ok, walks out of trailer, and then sees modern day Jing Yuan (who looks a little banged up, implying he probably protected her when the light fell in the first episode), who looks to be some type of assistant/crew member (and looking a hell of a lot better than Qing dynasty getup- sorry, I just hate the hair so much). They look at each other longingly and that’s it. Oh, and of course a water commercial haha - that has Qing dynasty Lin Er and modern day Jing Yuan hugging it out. Like in my first comment, I just hate how abrupt it was but whatever.. aside from that, the rest of the drama is actually quite good and I like how it evokes the original Princess Pearl story but then there’s all this “behind the scenes” caused by giving Lin Er/Jin Suo a romance line (I don’t think she had that in the original, I don’t remember much tbh).

where did you watch the last episode?
I originally had been watching on mangoTV app but couldn’t resist so these last couple of episodes i “skipped” ahead with the sketchy sites that follow SVIP airing schedule (i watch raw episodes)

Title Returning Pearl Spoiler
Quite enjoyable but ugh at the ending
I know it’s the mandatory “everything was just a dream” but they wasted way too much time with his goodbye with the Empress (no offense, but who cares? You’re not actually from that clan anyway) and made the modern return/seeing him again too abrupt. Could have benefited from another episode or two

Title Chef Son-In-Law Spoiler
What happened?
If I remember correctly, basically the Mu girl (ugh, who I despise the most of all the female characters) now knows he is married yet still tries to put moves on him. What a b****!

I am a bit confused, on the wrap picture it says Jin Zi Xuan is playing Xiao Yanzi and on baidu. But here on the…
Looks like whoever wrote that here made a mistake (it’s corrected now). Very clearly is Jin Zi Xuan (who really looks like the original Xiao Yan Zi played by Zhao Wei!)

Nope, went to the novel and the author forced ML to have a good "character", some boundary, while introducing…
Yup, get it.. just thinking that the actress cast as FL is miscast, she is not bringing anything to the plate (the others are kinda annoying but so far not actually “threatening” their relationship). Would be much more enjoyable if it was someone else in this role. We’re well past the halfway mark and there’s little snippets of “romance” but not very believable in my opinion.

This feels like it was supposed to be a harem relationship but turned singular, evident with the sister-law, the…
Yes, same thoughts! I was thinking this is a reverse reverse harem.. since he’s not a typical ML to have one. I am actually enjoying watching for him (I adore him and am glad for him to finally have a ML role) but yea, not feeling this wife.

where did you watch this version with 68 episodes? with English subtitles?
I am a native Chinese speaker so I watch raw version. I only rank this slightly higher than American (Netflix) version bc she ends up with her real life husband in here (for their romance, much better to watch Princess Weiyoung). I unfortunately have NDD, so had to finish this (and wash out the taste of the Netflix which I unfortunately watched first). Save yourself the misery

Title Keeping up with Beauty Spoiler
I was going to watch it for him, is it really that bad?
I just finished this. Agreed that it is unfortunate that GJN,while technically the ML, isn’t really all that romantic with her (I don’t think they have a kiss scene at all). The brother does, but it is from the flashback when the FL was still the heiress and genuinely in love with him (not very exaggerated). The “touching” in the current life is due to brother constant jealousy (and revenge at her for marrying GJN), but more like trying to pin her down (he is not successful as she is already the general at this point and still has her skills from the past life). But agree with above - if you’re watching this for romance with GJN (which I was also expecting), it’s not here :/
