Perhaps also The Flame's Daughter, she's also independent and a fighter.

Try The Legend of Fuyao, The Long Ballad, The Princess Weiyoung, Princess Silver, The Rise of the Phoenixes, Eternal Love (10 Miles of Peach Blossom).. All very different dramas and very different FLs, but all strong, independent women in their own way.

China suffers majorly from Prince Charming complex, so the MLs have to rescue their FLs ever so often lol.

Once my Chinese gets to fluent level I will start doing the subs myself! lol The tricky thing with Chinese is that some words and expressions in Chinese really don't translate well, or you'd have to use several words in English to express the same meaning which isn't doable in subs.

So rare... And frankly, sometimes the drama is an improvement on the source material. I just read the novel "10 Miles of Peach Blossom"/Eternal Love is based on and wow that drama really fleshed out the book. The book isn't that well written and the novel only has brief references to her life as an apprentice under Mo Yuan and Susu's life is like a page and a half lol. Plus, Su Jin is practically a footnote by comparison to the drama. However, the parts from when she meets Ye Hua in the Sea Palace to when he dies and comes back are pretty authentic.

The next upcoming Xu Kai one is "Imperial Cuisine" probably airing early Feb.

I just think the beauty ideal in China has become too extreme and exclusive like only one type can be beautiful at any one time. Appreciating variety and beauty in all its forms is the best. All have a different appeal. Short/average/tall, curvy/willowy/slim, muscular/lean, different face shapes, eye shapes, colouring... If only one body type is beautiful, then 99% of people are ugly.

It's like Chinese women are obsessed with men who are at least 180cm tall because that's the minimum height for MLs, but geez... just how many Chinese guys aren't 180cm! I feel for them!

Agree, very annoying how they infantilise adult women because they think it's "cute".

Ah... Not sure. Well it has a lot of special effects, so they probably required quite a big budget for that, but for me this is more of a mid range drama than a high range one. But that is subjective... Some viewers love this drama. In my opinion, so far, it's good but not great.
