So far for me she is the weakest link in this drama. A bit too silly and over the top for my liking.

I don't think so, but we have to wait and see... For me personally this drama is in a very different quality bracket from ALP and other great Xianxias. But I also think Love and Redemption is not in the same category as ALP. I also think L&R and also this drama are aimed at younger viewers.

I have a Viki subscription. Worth every penny. Didn't know Viki had acquired the rights to ALP! Great! But I just rewatched a part of episode 43 and the subs are so-so, some parts are not translated well/written in good English.

Same! I had low expectations for this and was pleasantly surprised. Although there are some cliches, there's an awful lot of good stuff and great attention to detail. I love all the food prep!

I kept shouting at the screen that she should report that Victor stole her ingredients. It's a professional competition, they would not have stood for it if she had informed them. She just held it in, but it wasn't ok!

Most of all I think she was just humiliated and upset.

This drama is like a combination of Masterchef and a classic C drama romcom. Love the attention to the food preparation! Foodies and chefs, this one is for us!

Yeah, I always tell myself to not expect a drama adaptation to be faithful because they so rarely are.... and it's China for crying out loud, to get such a gender progressive drama out of there at this time is unlikely.

I dunno, they are supposed to be nocturnal when they come out, maybe they thought the drama would be too boring if most of it took place at night lol.

Tbh, beauty ideals should be inclusive of different types of beauty, not exclusive, where only one type is acceptable.

Lately I've noticed MLs and FLs becoming more and more uniform, and anyone who deviates slightly because of appearance or age or whatever is destroyed online. That's messed up. Sometimes people even make up issues like not having a face shape with a pointy chin means you're fat now apparently.... Frickin ridiculous.

Chill, I was joking. Should have used an emoji to indicate my tone... I never said I agree with it, I just think it's unlikely China will be producing much LGBTQ-friendly content in the near future. Their whole big thing right now is "real men" and banning BL dramas. I'm as open minded as they come. People can define their gender or sexuality however they like as far as I'm concerned.

Look if you don't agree with the casting of Li Yi Feng because his "look" is not true to the original character because he's too manly, that's one thing, but saying he's fat when he's blatantly not is another matter altogether. You'd probably get a more faithful adaptation from a more liberal country that didn't fear censorship as much.

Oh well...

I know, and she put it on and then didn't last 2 seconds, but later she was walking around in the sun like it was no issue. Just seems a bit inconsistent to me.
