So weird, I have a Viki Pass, but the latest episode isn't available and the site is saying that Episode 31 will be available in 2 days and 32 in one day? Must surely be an error... Is anyone else having issues with Viki?

Is there a modern version of xianxia?
I would like to see this too, but I would like it if they maintained the historical look in the immortal realm and just changed into a modern look when they came to the human realm. That could be awesome.

There's are a few K dramas that attempt this in a modern setting. The Bride of Habaek (don't bother, it's dreadful), Goblin (as long as you don't mind a romance between an older man and a school girl)... Tale of a Nine Tailed Fox (starts off well and has some good parts but really drags in the last few episodes).

i started it without looking at the number of eps.. and lorddd 60?!! is it even worth it
Yes... every minute of it is worth it. It doesn't feel long and it never drags.
If you've watched other xianxias and liked them: Eternal Love (10 Miles of Peach Blossom), Eternal Love of Dream (The Pillow Book), Ancient Love Poetry... If you have watched these and liked them you'll like this one too.

I have to say I don't hate her, I just find her so boring as a character, she blends into the background somehow.…
I don't see their interactions as romantic at all...
I just meant I like Nangong Puye as a character, not as a romantic partner. I frankly prefer all of the other female characters over Jiang Ni. She's the odd one out for me.

MingLan is a good drama. Everything feels natural in how thing unfold and all. My only pet peeve is Feng Shiao…
I disagree, I thought he was wonderful and the fact that they were married at the time and expecting gave them really amazing, natural chemistry.

Title The Story of Ming Lan Spoiler
To those who have finished this drama, I am wondering which one would you pick as the most hated villain:1. Mo…
One thing I like about all these villains is you understand their motives even if you hate their behaviour... I think Auntie Kang is the worst because we find out she has killed a lot of people... She's a real sociopath. You can't help but wonder though with these villains if they would have done their evil deeds if they didn't have deep despair inside. If Auntie Kang had had a devoted loving husband maybe she wouldn't have lost her mind and started killing people.

sadly we probably wont see Erika as Xabara again because she got into a major scandal that basically destroyed…
You mean that she had an affair? Is that "really bad"? I just looked her up because I thought you meant she murdered someone or something. 😂
Providing she hasn't committed a crime, what she does in her private life and who she sleeps with is no one's business and certainly shouldn't destroy her career. That's insane.

For me, this should have been a 50 episode drama, instead of splitting to seasons. Old kdrama fans like me know…
The weird thing is that part 1, 2 and 3 aired right after one another and seemed to be just arbitrarily split into parts. I much prefer when you get complete dramas that air from start to finish. Waiting for another season is annoying and often results in changes of cast or production or something else that changes the vibe of the show.

Are these good as standalone seasons or do I need to wait for the next season to get what the outcome is ?
Actually I don't know why they were separated into part 1, 2 and 3 because they aired right after one another and were connected. Start with the 1st and move on. The second "season", so the next part is being filmed.

I am a big Song Joong Ki fan and I have probably watched every series he's been in except this one. I am still…
This drama is very unique because it's set in prehistoric times. Song Joong Ki plays 2 roles in it. You can tell it has a high budget because the cinematography is stunning. It's mostly about conflict between different species of human, Neanderthal, Homo sapiens and mixed ones. Set in a time which is transitioning from tribes to civilisations. It's apparently based on the Korean founding myth, so there's some mythology in there too. It was so popular it is one of the highest rated dramas not just in SK but around the world. Give it a go, if you don't like it you can just drop it or ask here if you're confused. :-)

They’re a cute couple, I heard they had 9 kids in reality
They don't touch on these issues in a lot of dramas... The only one that comes to mind is The Story of Minglan.

One thing I love about this drama is just how many interesting older characters there are and how often they get to be in the limelight. Xu Xiao, the Man in the Lake, Lao Huang, Li Chun Gang, the Chess Teacher and so on... I wish there were some quirky older ladies too!

Personally, I like SSS better than LaoYang. All the actors act very naturally, no character I hate, alot of actors…
I just started Luoyang and my main criticism is that it goes too fast too quickly. I would prefer if they had developed the characters and set the scene a bit more before making everything so fast paced and dramatic. They should have taken more time building some tension.

As for the characters in SSS, I agree except for Jiang Ni who is quite childish imo.

We'll have to see if she has some major transformation... But as it is if she went back to Chu and we never saw her again, that would be fine with me. It's a shame we haven't seen Nangong Puye for a while, she was a really interesting character. Those first two episodes when she was around with him and Lao Huang, now that was dynamic.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I'll tag this drama as DNW (Do Not Watch).
It's definitely not like Rookie Historian, that drama was so forgettable.

Well, it's quite a feel good drama. It has a lot of swoonworthy moments and a few funny moments. The chemistry between the leads is great. I criticise this drama heavily because it could have been an amazing drama, instead it's just good. Try it. It's not a bad drama, really.
