What an underrated drama! I'm so glad I didn't trust the rating. Wonderful, moving story and some very deep and meaningful themes. Whoever wrote the script deserves a raise.
Same, it has been years since I watched this and I still clearly remember everything. Literally they don't make…
Yeah, there was something magical about dramas like that. Honestly, other than this attitude shift in audiences towards excessively positive characters and plots, there are also the new rules on max episodes. Chinese drama makers do not thrive under pressure. If they need 50-70 episodes to tell the story well, then give them that lol.
Oh my beloved drama.None of the other dramas I've watched so far have had the same impact as you. This one really…
So true! They're so superficial. The older dramas were bold and took characters and stories to dark places and really let them grow as characters. Nowadays, people just want to watch perfect characters and they're so critical of characters that aren't completely virtuous. It's just boring.

So true because nowadays people seem to be allergic to flawed characters and tragedy. They don't want any toxicity, and the characters should all be virtuous and perfect people, and definitely no sad endings. It's very interesting that people call sad endings "bad endings".
The best dramas were a few years ago. They would consume your soul... Nowadays, I watch a drama and I may enjoy it, but it doesn't break my heart like the old ones do. The old ones had a way of completely getting me obsessed. There have been very few recent ones that did that.
So I took a break from asian dramas and I actually miss watching them. This is one of my fav historical/Romance…

Some people fall for all kinds of things... crystal healing, cinnamon eating challenges. The parrot is there for some comic relief, and it is crystal clear that that brother is a complete idiot. As they say, start with the weakest link.
Have you watched the whole drama or just the first few episodes? It starts quite light and gets heavier and more complex.

Is this your first C drama? This is a common plot point in C dramas, but I think Ni Ni disguises herself quite well. There are plenty of Chinese men with very feminine features.
She gets a bodyguard who protects her. Nan Yi played by Bai Jingting.

The Longest Day in Chang'an is another drama like this where you have to pay attention like crazy because it's so complex and full of details. Same level of production as this one. Visual masterpiece.
You will have to rewatch this drama several times to understand all the different layers. There is a rich tapestry of details in this drama, if you don't pay attention, you will miss it. The Tolstoy of C dramas.
