I think you may just have to watch it to see. I think this show might have a faster pace and more outrageous comedy…
I think Royal Rumours is funnier than this one. The script is very witty. It makes me howl with laughter. The FL cracks me up. This drama gets more of an occasional giggle out of me. They're both fast paced too imo.

What I gather is that NSY and NYX were only married in name because she forced it on him. I would say they're more like housemates that hate each other than a couple.

I like how fast paced this drama is... It really keeps you hooked. I've only watched 14 episodes and so much has happened. So far this is a good example of a well made "light" drama.

I agree! The voice acting is half of the job. Because of dubbing being the standard, it also means you hear the same voices again and again. I noticed in this drama one of the characters is dubbed by a voice actor who I'm sure did the voice for Xu Kai in Ancient Love Poetry.
Modern C dramas aren't as good as modern K dramas overall, but there are a few exceptions. Try "You are My Glory" with Yang Yang and Dilreba Dilmurat, great drama. My recent favourite however is "Meet Yourself". It's a very slow, thoughtful slice of life drama about an urban career woman whose best friend dies suddenly and unexpectedly and she realises her whole life is work and she has forgotten how to live, so she moves temporarily to this little village in Tibet where she begins to heal and gets to know all the villagers and the local beau. It's such a wholesome, healing drama. Really recommended. Definitely more mature than the average C drama.
They had to change stuff since the concept of traveling into the past is not allowed in tv series anymore. So…

Promoting "feudalism, superstition, fatalism and reincarnation" and xianxias and historical dramas don't do that? 🤣🤣🤣 Almost every xianxia has characters who reincarnate (sometimes more than once lmao)! Many reasons... They are often constructing other parts of the set while filming causing a lot of background noise requiring dubbing. Not everyone can speak perfect Mandarin, they may have a dialect or accent. Actors are apparently less efficient at doing the dubbing themselves than voice actors. Voice actors can do much more work in a shorter time. So it's also a financial issue. Scheduling is also challenging as they often do the sound work after the filming has finished so, they tend to rely on voice actors for convenience as well.
Personally, I don't approve of any of these reasons because I believe it is essential to acting integrity to have actors' real voices used for their own performance. It's capitalist, lazy and means that we hear the same voices over and over again.
Hmm perhaps! The King is quite a mysterious figure in this drama, it's hard to discern his intentions. It seemed like when he put the Crown Prince under house arrest that he was pleased he managed to get out on his own. Perhaps he is trying to strengthen his son so he doesn't fall into the same trap. Seems like he's scheming quite a bit now. He knows the Jo family is going to strike and he's put safety plans in place. We'll see how it all plays out!
Skip the last episode and it will be a happy ending. The last episode was so bizarre it is solely responsible…
Yeah, it's truly... bizarre. Like they all took hallucinagenics and decided this would be a super great ending. It wasn't. 🤣 But the penultimate episode is a good ending.
If I've learned anything from K period dramas it's that sitting on the throne and not being a puppet of of one of the big families is quite the achievement. The King failed to balance the court which led to total domination by the Jo family, but seems to me that this fake rebellion messed up everything. But I sympathise with the King. He's essentially stuck in a golden cage and has to trust the eyes of his ministers out of the court. If they bring him false information, it's not easy for him to find out it's fake. Plus, he's already lost one Crown Prince to this mess.
