out of curiosity, what do you mean by it being disconnected and what did you not like about it in comparison to…
I think the natural flow of CC and WSW (the actors) with each other has become so strong over the episodes that it overrides the irritation... They cast a spell on us 🤭

For me, YY and CC getting to know each other came very soon after the breakup, despite her new boyfriend, who I don't know, is dead now?

The effect of the passage of time is somehow very quick for me. And I can't say exactly whether it's because of the story, because of key points that perhaps didn't make it into the series from the novel (and in that case I don't know how to categorize them) or because the episodes have such an entertaining and light-hearted effect on me. Perhaps it is also the editing that causes me a certain amount of confusion. Maybe it's the abrupt cuts that give me the feeling of speed. A game of slowly fading scenes and abrupt scene changes would perhaps lead to a better temporal classification for me. I really don't know...

On the other hand, the “falling in love” has a slow, natural and pointed in time feel to me. The process matches my inner pace. But without being able to say whether it's 2 months or 6 months.

Can you understand what I'm trying to express? 😅

But hey: watching the two of them gradually fall in love with each other, slowly, half unknowingly, half defensively, and merging more and more with each other, is chef's kiss for me and actually one of the most outstanding things about the series. Because it's so nuanced, often subtle and develops carefully but irrevocably. And in other shows, sometimes that's thrown at you and it goes from 0 to 100%. The MC's gestures and facial expressions and the naturalness of their interactions are just top notch for me... and the smiles... My goodness, they have such wonderful smiles. Especially WSW in the last episodes...

I can't give you an answer to the previous series. But the author puts Revenged Love above her original novel.…
You're very welcome :) Have fun watching. If you don't quite like the first episodes, be sure to keep watching. The episodes get better and better. Time flies while watching, some episodes feel like 5min. And the CC and WSW will enchant you!

out of curiosity, what do you mean by it being disconnected and what did you not like about it in comparison to…
As a non-novel reader, I kind of agree with the comment. For me there are sometimes cuts/jumps that irritate me a bit. For example, when CC is at home with WSW. In the evening the bed scene and then jump/cut directly to the scene in the field. Sometimes I have also the feeling that there is additional context for some scenes in the novel.

Or the time cues. At some point it is said that WSW has been seducing CC for 6 months. But somehow it doesn't seem that long to me. But that's partly because the series is so easy to watch/time flies by so quickly. For me, it feels like a month at the most...

I think novel readers consciously/unconsciously add context to these cuts. I've experienced this with Top Form, for example. I knew the source material. That's why some things were much easier for me to understand and I found them logical. While others without prior knowledge thought: Huh?

That's why with Revenged Love I sometimes need a brief moment to get my bearings after such a plot jump and that makes it a bit more challenging for me to understand the snake plot, for example.

sometimes i would like to know chi cheng pov, like till now everything that is happening is shown from wu suo…
I think you can totally see CC's feelings on his face from the first encounter. But maybe we'll see more about his POV including his past in the next episode. At the time/after he makes the hard decision about his snake.

Ok I gave a question is this better than the previous adaptation of the novel so far? Should I start it??
I can't give you an answer to the previous series. But the author puts Revenged Love above her original novel. She has explicitly said that you should not read the novel, but watch this adaptation.

Seems GCY slept with CC's ex thus causing their rift and current frenemy relationship. We'll know about what happened…
I wouldn't be surprised if CC's ex was the driving force behind the sex with GCY to break up their friendship....

are u insane? its not bc theyre bl actors this happens with every celebrity in china , c idols, chinese influencers…
It's exciting how contradictory series have always been received. In fact, Meteor Garden was my first Chinese drama and therefore has a special place in my heart, even though I found some things absurd towards the end (the wedding), I liked it because of Shenyue and Dylan. It's also the only version of this story I've gotten through. Found that the underlying story is just too violent for me and I think Dylan and Shenyue were somehow so cute that it might have lessened the torment of bullying. Maybe it's also what others criticize that I liked about the drama. I watched ALSB afterwards. But it didn't come close to the S/D combo for me.

Exciting, I thought Dylan Wang had been really popular since Meteor Garden... Learned something again today.
For me it's unimaginable that the privacy of actors/idols is invaded in this way and that their private happiness might be shattered as a result...

I think that if you really like and support someone, you want them to be healthy and happy. That your own ego counts so much more than the person you value... Unintelligible.

But professional sasaengs? That actually makes a lot of sense to me and would explain a lot for me...

Thanks for the insight!

guys the first 2 episodes were kinda lacklustre for me, the whole premise was cliche (especially cause i saw the…
The story has been revised in comparison to the novel and therefore certainly to the previous version. At least the author says to stick to this TV version. But I don't know these previous versions.

It certainly has cliché elements, but the series is still somehow refreshing.

For example, I watched the first episode with a rather cringe-worthy feeling, but it was easy to watch. Then the show hooked me more with each episode and in my opinion it gets better with each episode. Would definitely advise you to watch at least the first 4, if not the first 6 episodes before you make your decision to continue watching the series. The author said it gets really good from episode 9 onwards and the story doesn't really take off until then. Up until episode 8, it's been a playful, comedic game of cat and mouse. And the chemistry and tension between CC and WSW is so strong that you wish they would finally give in to each other.

I'm so proud of myself for holding back and not watching the first episode...now i get to binge all episodes when…
I agree with the previous comment... I like the sweet agony of waiting for the next episode and knowing that many others feel the same way. That we are connected to each other, that we enjoy and suffer together with the characters. That it leads to an exchange about the series, the characters, the symbolism, theories about what will happen next and, last but not least, that I learn more about Chinese culture. All of this enriches me when I watch BL and I wouldn't want to miss it.

I hate it when people care about rating since rating already became a competition , this show is perfect and 9/10…
I also find the rating competitions kind of absurd. Until at least half of the series has aired, the rating doesn't mean anything to me. After that, it shows me a tendency that you have to look at depending on the country of production...
Especially the mass downvoting (and upvoting) of series after the first 2 episodes gets on my nerves. I'm glad it wasn't like that here and that the series got off to a smooth start...

At the end of the day, for me it's only important that you enjoy the series yourself and perhaps have a nice, enriching exchange in the comment section.

if anyone knows more bls (preferably korean or chinese) with this amount of cuteness and intimacy pleaaase let…
In addition to all the series mentioned, some of which I would also recommend, I also recommend “Revenged Love”. (Uncensored CBL) It's currently airing and by episode 4 most are addicted to the series. The main characters have great chemistry together. The plot does have darker themes, but the show feels very much like “cuteness and intimacy” to me so far.

Really, I have zero comprehension of this. Can't we just celebrate the show and everyone involved in giving it to us and otherwise please allow the actors their hopefully happy personal lives? What is it with these people who think it's perfectly okay to be so abusive?

That's scary af. I'm having a panic attack just watching it... I keep asking myself why none of these “fans” are able to put themselves in the actors' shoes and give them air to breathe?
They deserve to be celebrated... but not like this.

iam the only one who can't get thru 1ep? everyone saying it soo good. but the first ep didn't see like it's true..
The first time I watched it, I cringed during the first episode. I advise you to watch at least the first 4 episodes to get a feel for whether the series is for you. The episodes get better from episode to episode... Honestly, I think sooner or later you succumb to the smiles and dynamics of CC and WSW.

The author says it gets really good from episode 9 onwards.
I would advise you to definitely watch past the first few episodes. It's worth it.

Gosh, today's episode felt like it was over in a blink. So I started the series all over again 😅

Really the gazes of Chi Cheng ...🫠 and then the snake in the bed? Haha.
And Su Wei? Cute, naive Suo Wei, can't see the wood for the trees. It's going to be fun when he finally admits to himself that he's already completely lost 🤭
