Did they report Chi Cheng card stolen or freeze the card after Yue Yue spending spree?
The card is the one that WSW received from CC. That's why he won't care if money is withdrawn and his mother and sister don't know about the card for WSW. They only have the bills and probably think CC will take care of them properly.
Allow me to say that the sheer threat of rape makes me slightly uncomfortable. I have been allowing Chi Cheng…
While I interpret the first scene differently (not as an order, but as permission to do that and leave the boy in danger - which doesn't excuse his problematic behavior, but puts it in a slightly different place for me), here I think it's an empty threat, as CG's reaction is very relaxed when WSW tells him about it. If he took it seriously, I think he would have reacted differently.
In the context of the last episode when CG says something like, I see him smiling/happy for the first time in years (I can't remember exactly what was said) and CC's decision to stand up for WSW against his snake showed him as a longtime friend how serious he is about WSW. Also knowing him in the relationship with his ex, he surely knows that he could never do anything to WSW to hurt him. Because CG surely knows that he would hurt WSW deeply if he did something to his best friend. And let's not forget that CC said to WSW: I don't care if others are mad at me. But I can't stand it with you. (Wording may differ) So I think it's an empty threat.
Which resonates in this threat, but which I surprisingly haven't read in any comments: It seemed to me that he was giving vent to his jealousy. Which, in my impression, came out when he played the chat and heard WSW call Shuai master... In my opinion, he is jealous of their closeness and familiarity, coupled with fear of loss led to this threat in my opinion. But the behavior is simply problematic!
Does anyone here have the link to the message from them that says not to share any clips, etc.? I still see many…
There were some posts with links today before the broadcast, but they're probably 500 comments back 😅 I saw that on Facebook too. Mega disappointing, some even shared the link to the news....

If you also like historical drama, take a look at Memoir of Rati. It looks quite promising so far (really hope the script doesn't turn out to be a disaster at some point)

So I saw various pictures and video sequences from today's episode on Facebook earlier (including the bathing scene) and in the comments many people asked to delete the posts. The creators didn't or didn't want to understand why. I know it refers to Mainland China. However, it was asked not to share such clips on other platforms besides Chinese platforms. Another post asking for additional silence on the intimate scenes came from fans (I think) especially to protect the future of the actors... Precisely because the series/the actors are so trending. I found the link somewhere here. I just want to hold back a little. But that's my personal decision.
Next week Ep will be really good with WSW being insecure about Wang Shuo and seeking reassurance from Chi Cheng.…
Please use the spoiler tag. I have now read at least 2 comments from you where it was written what happens in the next episodes. And that is not nice.
I was also asked to put a spoiler tag yesterday and that was about content from yesterday's episode (which btw has already been shared by others).... Which additionally contained my interpretations of the aired episodes. So I personally have nothing against an open discussion of the current episode. But as a non-novel reader, I find it a let down if I can't decide for myself whether I want to know future events now. That ruins the suspense.
So... you guys are telling me that you *didn't* like the office scene??? I thought it was beautifully made and…
I loved the scene between the two of them. I'm just reluctant to elaborate because there have been calls for the scene to be kept quiet on all platforms so as not to endanger the actors, and not just in terms of footage. So I read the comments here with some concern... But my reaction was something like: Wow, cute, 🥹😱🤯, will this end well for you two actors? Wonderful... how can we protect them, please let everything go well, someone will break this call... *stress 🥰 stress 😍 -> I guess I'll have to rewatch the episode when I know everything went well.
"On the other hand, I feel like the show is back to its editing issues, similar to the first few episodes. It felt choppy again." I underline that 100%. Episode 4-8 is a great flow, but today the editing slowed me down and confused me and my timing imbalance did the rest. But there were some very good scenes that I really enjoyed. And I hope we'll be back on track next week...
Hey guys, I need a little help unraveling this. Somehow there were a little too many jumps in the episode for me that time and development is not clear to me.
After the episode yesterday, I thought today one of them officially asks the other if they want to be together.
After the episode start (business opening) today, I was confused if they are already together now (and got together yesterday) or if it, is just a feint by WSW and they are business partners and in a still before-relationship-we-don't-even-know-what-right status (that was my first thought). But then came the scene at the club. Then jump CC is suddenly out and about, which he didn't tell WSW (us) before in a conversation. We find out from a scene without him. From this we can also deduce that it must be longer? (how long? I have no sense of time at all).
Then office scene: WSW suddenly talks about breaking up (the start of my confusion about the relationship status). After the long teased scene (in which I just thought, hopefully this will end mildly for the actors, so the daily panicked comments here have unsettle me. Because let's be honest, I highly doubt the team's requests will be fulfilled after that scene) and the scene where our Dr. saw things he didn't see coming, I thought they were together again. Only to see a little later, the scene of CC and Dr. with a deadline and a statement from Shuai to WSW: how long he wouldn't have contacted CC? (Was it my subtitles?) That was the top of the confusion. They don't see each other? But they do have a business together? So they're not talking to each other right now? Because why else doesn't WSW just talk to CC about the situation and Shuai?
Time and relationship depiction confused me tremendously and I feel like there is novel content missing here. Or is it because of the YT subtitles? My westernized view? As someone who hasn't read the novel, I'm left with a lot of question marks...
I'd be grateful if someone could help me untangle them... I usually recognize the point at which the relationship begins. But here I'm really lost...
Haha. There you are! I've been expecting you (and missed your rant and our exchange a bit 😄) Since I'm having…
Thank you! :) Haha, yes I did cringe-watch those first episodes. Since I have a special place in my heart for absurdities and therefore like them in a certain way, I'm having a great time. There's something very comedic and light about the show for me... and I therefore watch it with a not entirely serious eye.
In fact, from my point of view, the show gets better from episode 4 onwards. But certainly not to your taste. When I look back at the fight scene from yesterday, I can well imagine how you would have reacted and I would have liked to sit next to it laughing with popcorn... 😂 Your rant would probably have been similar to this one.
Besides that, I have to say that I like the flow and dynamics of the main characters. And their chemistry. While in episode one of WSW I thought: what kind of guy is this? he has already charmed me by now. But I'm a bit biased because I like people with beautiful, genuine smiles.
As for the credibility of the story (age, etc...), I understand your view of things. Although I find the Dr., more believable than the snakes. That's why I watch the series more from an angle and with a classification in the fantasy category. The thing that initially irritated me the most (and sometimes still does) is the editing. The cuts, the time jumps that don't fit into my emotional timeline... But yes, I'm currently having fun watching it and I'll be surprised...(my critical point with CDramas is 2/3 of the episodes)
Btw I'm interested in your opinion on Ballboy Tactics, actually wanted to recommend it to you, but saw that you dropped it. If you like, feel free to write me!
⚠️ MIDNIGHT SPIRAL DISCLAIMER: This essay was written during a 3am airport anxiety session and then immediately…
One of the things I like about films and series is that they can lead you personally to insights at the most unexpected moments. Through attraction, through rejection, through pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, through the realization that you are looking at something in which you recognize your own, perhaps dysfunctional patterns. You want to push it away, run away, feel uncomfortable and at the same time there is this little spark that holds you. Inexplicably. The one that says: Look. That gives you the gift of gaining a possible, perhaps completely different perspective on an issue and opening up a possible path. A path that you yourself cannot yet recognize in this situation or that is simply foreign to you. You look at it and look around. Perhaps ask yourself why something is upsetting you. Pause for a moment and perhaps you will see a small light in the darkness that opens up a new path, unknown, full of adventure and insight. Your own path, your own individual solution. That is a point at which you grow... Growth is complex, sometimes feels uncomfortable, makes you vulnerable because it makes you insecure. This can happen with films and series that you least expect, that you might reject outright. And I congratulate you on being able to experience such a moment, that you are not just consuming a story, but that you are allowed to develop further. Thank you for sharing it again. I read your thoughts earlier with great joy and admiration!
bad things happen in life. rape is one of the bad things that happens, just as murder is one of the bad things…
“Dark romance” is a genre of its own. You are deliberately trying to frame “dark” and “romance” as incompatible, even though it serves this very niche. If the term doesn't mean anything to you, look it up in the search engine of your choice.
No idea about the Chinese industry... I only have marginal points of contact in that I occasionally watch series. But I'm not surprised that the problem exists. Because unfortunately you can find them all over the world. Offenders are protected. But you're talking about reality here.
Once again, learn to distinguish between fiction and reality and distance yourself from things that you can't process for yourself.
He says: Do what you want with him, but don't kill him! - Then he leaves. He doesn't order rape, but he ultimately gives permission. He is aware of what can and probably will happen. You can blame him for that and criticize him for it. Obviously, he does not have good character (at this point). He can also be criticized for leaving the alleged perpetrators unpunished in his environment. But in the end, we don't see what really happens. The rest is interpretation, based on our own knowledge, experience and fear. And he should be portrayed as a “bad guy”. Personally, I think that if the author is distancing herself from her original novel, she should have left the scene out, because it contradicts itself. But I have no influence on the editing.
bad things happen in life. rape is one of the bad things that happens, just as murder is one of the bad things…
Guess what? Rap* has deliberately been shown here because its a BL. It doesn't even fit !
You'll have to explain that to me. I don't know what you mean by that? Why is it not okay for a BL to show rape? Why is it ok to see something like that in straight dramas, even romanticize it (which doesn't happen here? Because really no one here said after the scene: uh, that makes him so great, that's so romantic...)
Murder always has an intention to kill and it happens out of malice. So why are you defending murderers? Are you accusing true crime fans of condoning and supporting murder? Someone recently gave a good example: the series “You” has 5 seasons, what do you say about its viewership? Violence is violence. No one here is defending or romanticizing rape. You would know that if you had read the comments. But there's a lot of differentiated discussion about it... And it's really presumptuous of you to call people almost monsters here and accuse them of something just because they keep watching the show...
The situation: He's angry. He leaves him behind, exposes him to danger, doesn't prevent anything and simply doesn't care what happens to him because he doesn't care about anyone at this point. He doesn't actively ask anyone to do it, he's not involved himself, it doesn't happen again in the course of the story so far, no love grows out of it. As is the case with many other BLs and is extremely problematic.
There are many very problematic BLs that condone emotional and physical abuse and portray it as love, allowing relationships to develop out of it. (I also bring up HIStory 4 again here, which disturbingly combines all of the above). Here, a character is initially described as cold, ruthless, without conscience to draw a starting point and show how he changes over the course of a particular encounter. Is he a problematic character? Yes. At least at this point. From episode 3 onwards, things start to look very different.
BL is a genre that can be criticized. For example, you can also have a controversial discussion about whether it objectifies and fetishizes homosexual men if you mainly want to see lots of hot nude scenes of two handsome, tall, preferably muscular men and the story is of secondary importance. When it's not the acting performance that's being discussed, but the fact that an actor isn't hot enough for a role and a perhaps visually average person doesn't deserve to be with an extremely good-looking person. In the BL genre, you can also criticize the fans who, for some inexplicable reason, can't tell fiction from reality. Who know no measure and no boundaries.Who invade the privacy of actors, harass, threaten and assault them and see them as property that they can dictate who they can be with.
BL has many clichés and various themes that it serves. But what you can't expect from BL is to pick up a "dark romance" that's in the gray area and then wonder and complain that it's not Jane Austen. And BL shouldn't remove the subject of rape just because viewers can't handle it and it doesn't serve the butterfly fantasy they've drawn from the genre. Because rape is a real threat to gay men. But it shouldn't be romanticized either.
Haha. There you are! I've been expecting you (and missed your rant and our exchange a bit 😄) Since I'm having…
Etoks is a very valued conversation partner for me... I really enjoy discussing things with him. Every now and then we even agree :) In any case, I always find his perspective enriching.
But I think you're referring more to my discussion with Rich? Because I haven't come across Etoks for a while...
In the context of the last episode when CG says something like, I see him smiling/happy for the first time in years (I can't remember exactly what was said) and CC's decision to stand up for WSW against his snake showed him as a longtime friend how serious he is about WSW.
