My impression is solidifying... GMMTV has had a problem creating good scripts lately.
I don't want to sound too harsh, but it feels like the scriptwriters have been dice up the plot and screen time for the characters. After the last episode, I had hope that things would get better. But it seems to me like the writers hate Ryan and Jane, especially Jane. Disappears, goes into hiding, is gone for 5 years.... Or are Off and Gun disliked that they get such (small) roles? Both characters had so much potential and Off in particular shone in the role, I think.
I feel sorry for the good actors who were given an unworthy script. Especially Off and Gun, I wish they get a good script with screentime and depth so that they can really shine.

I don't know which Taiwanese BL you are referring to... I appreciate both Jack and Joker and certain Taiwanese BLs.... Why do you have to pit everything against each other? Personally, I don't think it's good to set them against each other now... Good works can simply stand side by side on an equal footing.

Have you looked at the link in Benjamin's bio on Instagram? You'll find a lot of works where he's been involved and they seem to be freely accessible.

Hmm, that makes sense if it's the episode with the the most daily views on IQiYi. Then the focus on Jack and Joker is completely different and homophobic people are more likely to take notice.
That can be something when Love in the Big City comes out. Nam Yoon Su is already being subjected to a huge wave of hate from disappointed KDrama fans on Instagram.

Every time you come to this site, it's more confusing. Now Jack and Joker has fought its way up to 6.9 and it slips right back down to 6.5? That must be a bug, right? Right ? What did War and Yin do to be devalued like that on MDL? What's wrong with these people? That's pathetic. If they at least had the courage to justify their 1 star rating after 1 episode...

I think Lin Bei Ting is jealous of the female teacher. I could imagine that Zhao Xi and Yang Ying are good friends and she already knows that he is homosexual and is dating Lin Bei Ting. But she doesn't show it because she mentioned that the school is very conservative and you can't show your support to the outside world like that (then she put the cup in the drawer). In my opinion, she is subtly trying to get closer to Ting in a friendly way and he misinterprets Xi and Ying's closeness.

Benjamin is an absolute gem of an actor. He's getting even better with each episode (Dong Qin too). I can't wait to hear what you have to say about episode 8... (and yes, I'm surprised by myself to have written that last sentence)

Yes, it was a great 1st episode. This rating is just silly and such downvote behaviour is childish. I really wonder what's got into people. I don't know of any controversy or toxic behaviour around Yin and War either. Is it envy of War's acting skills? Or maybe just a bug in the algorithm?

Maybe you read my comment again. I didn't just blame the Koreans, I also blamed the KDrama viewers who made hateful comments in the comment section. And I know Koreans are no different from other people, I'm not naive.... And when I wrote "Koreans", I don't mean all Koreans either.

Hence the spoiler warning 😉 This is one of the few spoilers I know from the novel. I'll tell you if you like.

For me, the moment came when JT fully recognised and admitted his feelings as he unpacked the suitcase, reflected on everything and said, "I don't know why I would be like this" (at least that's the Viki translation). The scene had many meanings for me. Relief at having arrived "home", but at the same time a certain sadness and an admission of his feelings for SW. Because he became aware that he has the same sexual inclination that caused his mother a lot of pain due to his father's behaviour. I also think that's why he was radiating brokenness and repeating "I don't know." For me, the second hug also symbolises the acceptance of his feelings.

I would advise you to just watch it. It was a solid first episode. You can't take the ratings here and on Jack and Joker seriously. Very sad this level of bad ratings after one episode for long awaited series.

Jack and Joker with such a strong first episode is at 6.4? And so many hundreds of votes. I'm just confused when I'm on some drama sites. Long-awaited and quite solid episodes are downvoted and then upvoted as a backlash when only one episode has been released. I think it's a real shame that there seems to be such disagreement in the BL scene that people devalue dramas on principle (of which they haven't even been able to form a comprehensive opinion). At some point, this behaviour will damage the whole genre and we won't get any more BLs, or no more high-quality BLs, because nobody wants to invest in something that brings low recognition. Very sad.

Yes, that's what I think too. Or, I don't know if I'm right, SW gets hurt in the relay race, JT takes him to their room in his bed because SW can't climb up and SW asks him to stay with him...
