Aren't they just toxic actor fans that only rate dramas of their favs "10" and "1" for all other…
Right? I saw a couple of users mark Tempest as seen all 9 episodes before the last 3 episodes being available.
In the first 3 episodes, Tempest is more anti- American than Chinese. I have yet to see one South Korean drama or movie which is pro American government. , They always portray American government in a bad lime light. Yet, I have never seen anyone complaining about it.
First, they watch the shows without paying any money, and then they complain china doesn't look good in those…
As @Facundo1867 mentioned, it's mainly the Chinese government bots, not the Chinese people. If in fact there are some Chinese people, they are the communist party members trying to score points with the party.
Folks, there are lots of Chinese CCP trolls and keyboard warriors here. All you have to do is check their profile. For example, check veistrat profile, this troll has rated most dramas and movies a "1", with the exception of few.
Wish MDL had the mechanism to flag these trolls here.
Edit 2025.09.29 - I take back what I said about veistrat. Sorry veistrat.

Disney translators like treating their tasks like they are performing interpretive dance… maddening to a point…
Thank you for your lovely reply and explanation.
I loved Pegasus Market, what a masterpiece. I have short memory so I can't remember how the subs were. Also, the subs I get might be different than what you see.
I only know very little Korean, basic stuff. But, when I see that they change Good Morning to Hi or Emo (aunt) to Please, or even changing English words to something different, that really baffles and bothers me.
Anyway, AI is new and I have been watching since 2012 plus as I said I am bilingual and see that when relatives try to translate words. It's probably my technical background that makes me a bit fussy about accuracy 😂
There’s only 3 episodes out. 8.1 is exceptionally good for that since most people haven’t rated yet. Wait…
Thank you for your reply. I very much appreciate it.
Yes, I am very well aware of the 3 episodes out scenario. And, my thinking of the ratings were in general and not necessarily particular to this drama.
This is a very good and high quality drama. Not the usual Kdrama, and that might explain the relative low rating.
Of course on a scale of 1 to 10, typically a 10 would be exemplary, 9 would be considered excellent, and 8 would be very good, where as 5 and 6 would be considered average.
But, here on MDL, to me an 8 feels like average and a 5 or 6 feels like a very low rating.
What do you guys think? How do the MDL numbers feel like to you?
I have been watching Korean drama and movies since 2012 and have learned a bit Korean. I have also watched Chinese and a bit of Japanese ones.
I am bilingual and when I moved to US and watched American shows and movies it always felt like I was watching a different movie or show than the same one I saw in the country I was born in. The dialog was so different.
Now, it feels the same with what I am watching now. Why do translators get the urge to change the most basic dialog to something different when there is a perfect and direct translation? That makes me lose confidence in more complex dialogs. Sad, very sad and disappointing.
If what you are saying about the subs being inaccurate is true, then that is very disappointing. So far I've not…
I am bilingual, and also know a little Korean. I simply do not like the idea of changing what is being said to something different, even if it gives the same idea, when there is a perfect direct translation.
For example, Good morning should be translated to Good Morning not to Hi.
Episode 4, Time Stamp 6:34, she clearly says "Me" in Korean, yet the sub says "You think so." So annoying!
She's a very beautiful and excellent actress. Wish her much more success in her career and personal life.

It's not just Disney. It's all of them, regardless of the source.
I am an old male dinosaur, hence my old dorky Yoda moniker 😁
You put into very concise words what I have been thinking. For that thank you a million times.

Forgive my venting and frustration.

This is what I mean by inaccuracy.
Yes, Netflix does it a lot, so do all the others.
