people here are upset because ML didn't recognize FL until she mentioned her name. We can't blame him ,he's only seen her once in his life. There's no way you can recognize a person you've only seen once 13 years ago.
the aunt is so annoying like thereβs no excuses anymore about her actions. Sheβs literally selling the family secrets out of anger and fear Li Zhen will rise higher than the main branch family. As she should be fearfully. Li Zhen has a pure concision and a determined spirit. The uncle needs to grow a back bone and stand up to the aunt. but some spoilers I saw on Weibo suggest he will change. Loving the blossoming relationship between the leads. I love how he allows her to do what she wants but also helps her and protects her.
Love the authentic on site location shooting of this drama. It's really fitting for the series: ancient, rustic, and raw. The black and gray buildings also bring parallelism to the ink on traditional Chinese paintings.
It made me curious about the Huizhou location, and upon more searching, there's a UNESCO village of HongCun. Other villages with similar buildings are Xidi and ChengKan. So historical and pretty when you google images these places.
I am actually enjoy the show but reading the comment section is really disheartened. Sometime your enemies is really your kind (to the anti) anyway ink, paper making, and stationary are one of finest work that allows us to communicate and record. Is nice to see a show dedicated to the craftsmenship. Is a great show, there nothing wrong with it. Stop the weird hate mind hive, and start making decision for yourself.

Thanks to this drama i have learned that ink making varies depending on the ingredient: from medicine, calligraphy,…
That is a good example of why certain countries have a robust stationary culture. To be fair, a lot of craftsmanships everywhere are a lost art. Most things are cheaply made with plastics now.

I get it. it's not for everyone.
some people are not into arts and culture. they prefer drama and trauma.
This drama has been a steady 8-8.5 FOR ME
the next few episodes will determine if they'll be able to hold that.
some people are saying it's too much about the ink.
π meanwhile I'm hoping she gets her hands on her dad's medical ink and learns to recreate that. π
I'm all in
I think it has been a beautifully crafted story so far. And the acting is impeccable.
