Good Grief

Ok, I've just finished the drama. It was a good adaptation. The leads' acting was on point from both of them. They gave the characters a solid characterization.
The ending was good if you didn't read the novel. It was so different and it felt rushed but since most of dramas' endings literally suck, that'll do.
In the novel, they continue living their life as emperor and empress, have children and stay together many years. Xiahou Dan remains weak due to the poisoning and dies before Wanyin. Wanyin rules alone, then abdicates, travels the world as she had always wished. She dies old with no regrets, just to wake up on the subway. She then search for Zhang San and finally find him as a CEO of a company. He explains that he came back in 2016 as a teenager and since then he's been waiting for her return. They book a room (^__^) and swear to live another life together. Well, I'll stick with this ending imaging it in my mind...

Yes! In the novel, they each return to the real world at the exact moment they originally transmigrated. Xiahou Dan/Zhang San goes back first and finds himself in 2016. Then Yu Wanyin/Wang Cuihua returns later and finds herself in 2026—so ten years have already passed since he came back! Which works out perfectly because it makes them roughly the same age ☺️

Yes, they do! The endings are a little different, but in both the novel and the drama, Wang Cuihua and Zhang San recognize each other. No amnesia or memory wipes, thankfully 🥳

If I understand the novel correctly, the ML dies first (later on of old age, I think?) and goes back to the real world as a child. He grows up and becomes a CEO and waits for / looks for the FL who dies after him in the novel and then returns to the real world 😊They reunite for a HE 🤗

Alternatively, don't be too disappointed if the rating drops after people finish the show. If the ending is bad or dissatisfactory, yes that will reflect in the ratings (I have not finished myself and many others are still watching so the implication it is a bad ending should honestly be under spoiler), but also ratings on MDL generally drop or raise as people finish watching. It's pretty normal and happens as the ratio evens out. I understand being disappointed that a beloved show doesn't have the rating you believe it deserves, but this will not change how people view and rate it either. Each person's experience is unique ❤️

She's Cute ❤️

She is so cute, I'd love to see her as female lead more often.

Her character in Rise of Ning was so straightforward & pure also such a lovely plumb figure she looks so gorgeous in those costume style & hair accs! I loved her chracter and look forwards to every short second she got :c it was just too short.. Even her lovelines were interesting and sweet.
I can only hope to see her more in costume dramas<3

I can't believe they keep casting her as secondary, "chubby" female roles when she is so beautiful and gorgeous. Really loved seeing in her Rise of Ning, and look forward to more roles.

Im watching her in Yummy Yummy right now OH MY HEART SHE IS SOOOO SWEET<3 I want to put her into my pocket and run away ;_;
She looks extra adorable in costumes. I always wish our fave celebs have a lil more bit of normal weight on them and seeing her gives me hope for future...

Honestly, I’d probably go for it. It’s not something that happens every day, and I think it could be fun as long as it stays respectful and drama free. I’d enjoy the attention, some playful jealousy, and just hanging out together. Sleepovers, hot pot every night and have them dresses like those dancing girls and have them preform for me . Just thinking about it makes me sad that i cant have that in real life lol 😭

To be fair, it's not just the Chinese. There is a famous joke that to play Romeo, who was 14, you have to have at least 30 years of acting experience :).
