I was looking forward to this one after I saw the trailer, but the first 3 episodes weren't great. I don't want to nitpick on every little thing but IMO there were some obvious issues that made the episodes worse than they should have been.

In Thailand, almost all BLs have 45 minute + episodes, but every story doesn't need that runtime. A simple slice of life story with no strong ongoing plot could easily be 25 minutes or less each week. That would reduce the amount of filler and improve the overall pacing. This is also the type of series that would REALLY benefit from a fun side couple. I was hopeful that we would get one or two to help keep my interest, but not much happened in these early episodes for anyone and it was hard not to be bored. Hopefully we get one soon.

The other big thing is the acting. Big has a lot of acting experience and is able to portray God in a convincing way, even though I have no idea why he's interested in Diew. But when the other actor is an amateur (2 Moons 3 should not count as acting) with limited range, it makes it hard for me to connect with the story. I'm not trying to say anything bad about the actor. Most amateur actors have a hard time with their first roles. I just wish the actor could convey the complexities of portraying an "introverted" character, instead of just looking confused in most of the scenes.

All in all, if you want to watch something simple and sweet, you may want to give this a watch.

I'm really going to miss this show. It wasn't perfect and a lot of what happened after that fake girl showed up lowered my enjoyment of the series, but overall I still liked it a lot.

In a BL world filled with so many ships, I think Daou and Offroad are special. They showed that in Love in Translation and even more in Century of Love. Vee and his grandma were great characters and great great grandpa San (tiny and normal size) were two of my favorite characters of the year. And Rat, Chu and great grandpa were my favorite BL family ever. I loved them and that family dynamic made the show unforgettable.

I would highly recommend this series!

After all these years since the ban, I can't say I'm surprised. But I am disappointed. I won't blame China, but I completely blame their government. You'd think in a world with so many real problems that the government would focus on real issues and not waste time banning a little web series. But I live in the West and my government does terrible things too, so it is what it is.

I sincerely hope the actors and crew are not negatively impacted by any of this. And I'm really sad that lots of well written gay stories created by Chinese authors will never be shared with the world. It's kind of heartbreaking knowing that we're all losing out on these stories. But most importantly that LGBTQI+ people in so many countries including China don't have equal rights or freedom of expression.

Hate how most women in bl are in two camps,1) the typically girl that wants one of the boys and do everything…
I feel the same way.
On I Hear the Sunspot Aug 8, 2024
Oh wow, that was unpleasant. I'm used to terrible women/girls in BLs, but sometimes they still shock me when they're extra terrible. I hope she isn't around much longer because I'm already ready to slap her repeatedly!

I'm glad almost all of us hate her. But I'm sad that this series was nearly perfect and she is ruining at least 2 episodes. I know she was in the manga, but damn stuff that worked in a manga more than a decade ago, doesn't always work for fans today. I'm so sad!!! Women in BLs 🀬🀬🀬🀬🀬🀬🀬🀬🀬

"I kinda hope the pearl cluthers who think gay love stops after 30 don't discover this one."Hilarious and so sadly…
Well it kinda makes sense for the BL fans who have only seen gay people in BL and think BL is the reality for most gay people. Most popular BLs only show people under 30 falling in love. So for the segment of the audience who know little about actual gay people in the real world, those assumptions make sense.

IMO we need a lot more types of gay representation before that faction starts to realize there isn't just one type of gay love/relationship. Luckily Taiwanese and Japanese BLs are getting more popular and regularly telling a variety of stories.

I don't want to defend this show, but handsome creepy lead characters that come to the rescue and sweep the other character (usually a woman or uke) off their feet are a pretty standard plot. Novels, plays, movies and shows have all had it. That's an easy shorthand to quickly move the story along. Especially since writers know people excuse questionable behavior by handsome people that would be called out if the person were much less attractive.

There are a lot of other ways the leads could get closer, but that would take strong/thoughtful writing, which this show clearly doesn't have.
On Century of Love Aug 8, 2024
I know I'm really biased because of my love for great great grandpa San and OffroadDaou, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that episode was a miss for me. All of the events had to happen to move the story along, but the way they happened were REALLY ridiculous. But I'm just gonna wait for the last episode and hope it wraps up well.

Yeah it is sad. It seems like every time there's an age gap in a series, no matter how small or large, some people freak out. Especially when there's a character who's middle aged.

What are the 5 JBLs airing now?
I would recommend checking this site: https://world-of-bl.com/. It lists details about the currently airing (and many older) BLs with summaries.
On Sugar Dog Life Aug 6, 2024
I've been watching BL for a long time and I don't think there have ever been 5 JBLs airing at the same time. The BL gods really are blessing us every month in 2024!!! The first episode was so sweet, cute and precious. Once again Japan shows the BL world how to deliver slice of life stories with complex characters and I'm 100% here for it. Looking forward to episode 2.
On Battle of the Writers Aug 6, 2024
Sometimes I wonder if audiences would like characters who are borderline stalkers like Shan, if the actor playing him looked like an average guy or an ugly guy, instead of a model. But that doesn't matter, I gave it 2 episodes, but I've gotta drop this one. These days it's obvious that every BL fan can't like every BL. Some people prefer character development, deep plots, realistic pacing and decent line delivery. Some people prefer attractive rich guys, wish fulfillment and plenty of sex scenes. Some people like both types of shows. I don't think any of those preferences are better than the others, but I just don't have the patience to sit through something this devoid of quality when there are so many other good/great series airing now.

I think it would be silly to expect strong performances when the director also directed Naughty Babe. I think it would be absurd to expect anything more than endless fairytale level "moments" and shallow characters from the people who wrote Unforgotten Night and Middleman's Love. I think it would be a waste of time to expect anything other than random scene cuts, no narrative structure and a bunch of flashbacks (after only 2 episodes) from the person who edited For Him. So I won't bother getting frustrated or complaining about the hour I just wasted.

I like bad shows more when I binge them instead of watching them as they air. That's what made Middleman's Love and Playboyy tolerable for me. So I'll check back in 10 weeks or during the next BL drought.
On Takara's Treasure Aug 5, 2024
Another great episode!!! We really needed a backstory for Takara and I'm so glad we got it. I also love that this year is turning out to be the year of the awesome grandpas. Takara's grandpa, Taichi's grapndpa in Hidamari ga Kikoeru and great grandpa San in Century of Love are all wonderful. I love this era of BL πŸ₯°

I don't even have the words to express how disappointing this is. The webtoon is wonderful. Adding a straight couple and centering them in a series that was originally about two gay couples is so wrong. But I'm also not surprised. KBLs were mostly underground until the last 5 years. Then they got popular and now bigger companies are using that popularity for views more and more, while pushing the gay stories to the background. It is straightwashing and I'm tired of it. There will always be a large audience for straight k series. Stealing gay stories and turning them straight with the hopes of appealing to a larger audience is wrong in every way. I'm not going to talk about all of the cultural reasons surrounding these type decisions because that won't change anything.

I won't be watching this if it does air.

Please there’s an audience for everything. You didn’t like it, fine! Just move along and never watch anything…
Three months later you find my post and get so triggered by it that you just had to leave this comment. You've seen one show and yet you think you get to tell me what I can and can't comment on. Unless you're one of the people that I called out who were involved in the production of the show, my comment shouldn't hurt you. If you are one of those people, you are the problem. EITHER WAY, IF YOU DON'T LIKE MY COMMENT, DON'T READ IT.

Since you only made your account 2 days ago, I'm going to give you some tips. MDL is a discussion board, it's not a fan page. People come here to share their thoughts/opinions on what they watch and to read other people's thoughts and opinions. Everyone does have different tastes, but you don't get to silence people just because you disagree with what they wrote. There is also a block botton that allows you to never see another word written by people you don't like. I will be using that on you because being harassed by you is a complete waste of my time. Bye!

If you had posted "Its so funny how yall loved him last week and now we all hate him this week lol", on your own comment, I wouldn't have said a word to you. Because I would have known you weren't talking to me and I don't jump into people's threads who I don't interact with regularly.

But you chose to come into my post and make your comment about other people's reactions to a character after one episode. I'm not here to argue and I'm not pressed. I truly don't know why you picked my comment to chastise other people for their initial reactions. I don't know why you're so invested in what people thought about a random character after one episode. But you're entitled to think/feel whatever you want about what others said on here. I'd just prefer that you not involve me in it, because yall = you all and I didn't say that I loved him or any other character on the show.

Can we just drop this? I'm not here to argue about a show I already said I like.
