This series still isn't rated lower than What the Duck 2. lmao
Yeah, WTD2 was probably the first BL I dropped. My guess is because more people watched that series, it got more low ratings. These days with so many series, it's easy to drop something as bad as crazy handsome rich.
Wait wait wait!!! Don't tell me you're dropping this!?!?!? Whatever happened to the misery loves company club?
That's all I'm saying. There are 1000s of youtube accounts that exist literally to criticize movies/tv shows. But in Thai BL world, some people think it must be 100% positive or they are entitled to call you every name in the book.
I watch BL because I want to see gay characters on tv. Most of my criticisms are about bad writing, but some people can't deal with that. And arguing with mean spirited irrational people over a tv show feels like a waste of time to me.

You're kinda right. I'm not watching either. I love bad series, but I don't love the people on Thai BL MDL who believe, "only my opinion matters so shut up or stop watching if think anything other praise about this show". I'm tired of getting attacked/called a hater anytime I make a comment on certain MDL pages, so not watching those shows was the safe option for me. And you never asked me to watch either. I MIGHT have considered sticking with both/either if most of the comments on those pages weren't endless praise for subpar series.
But those type of people don't comment on Pinoy shows, so I'll be here every week!
This is exactly like all other Xion productions. Endless middle school sex jokes, bland forced story, good actors and lots of LGBTQI+ representation. I will watch it like all his other productions mainly because he's the only one consistently making Pinoy BLs. It's just unfortunate that he never hires decent writers.
After sitting through 12 weeks of this, I can honestly say I'm glad it's over. It started great, a couple of the…
P.S. While the gay marriage bill did pass the Thai Senate in June, the bill is not law yet.
"The Senate voted overwhelmingly in favor of passing the bill following a final reading, with 130 senators voting in favor. Only four members opposed the bill.
The bill still requires endorsement from the king before marriage equality can become reality in Thailand, but this process is considered a formality. The law will then come into effect 120 days after it is published in the royal gazette." -CNN
After sitting through 12 weeks of this, I can honestly say I'm glad it's over. It started great, a couple of the actors gave solid performances throughout, but it completely lost its heart halfway through and got progressively more farcical and unbelievable.
I know this was written by 4 people are that's exactly what it felt like, plot points appearing/disappearing at any time, the tone shifting every few minutes and a "will they won't they" every few minutes to fill the time. I've never watched a show trend water for an entire series until Wandee Goodday.
All of the sweet, wish fulfilling, pink colored moments stopped being enjoyable and became grating, headshaking and a bit infuriating as the show crawled towards the end. I hope GMMTV starts hiring consultants for their series because when they write anything outside of high school/college it's almost always VERY obvious that they have no real frame of reference, which results in a generic and stupid plot. The boxing stuff in the last 2 episodes was kind of the last straw for me. I hope the actors get better roles in the future and that the writers try A LOT harder with their next project!!!!
I know a lot of people loved this series because it was sweet and uncomplicated, but you can have both of those things with a well-written plot that doesn't treat its audience like fools who will cheer for any PDA or love confession every episode. When there are great series airing every week, asking for a solid story from the biggest company in BL doesn't seem out of bounds to me.
I finished all 12 and agree with the overall rating. While most stories weren't great, there were some really good ones that I wish had full series. I liked that the company took a chance to tell a bunch of stories you never see in Thai BL. I don't think this needs another season, but most of stories would be fine to watch when there's nothing else on.
I watched My Universe out of order, so this was my last story. It was definitely not the worst and I was glad to see a GL story. While Preng's behavior was frustrating at times, I never hated her and thought her and Ann had great chemistry.
The BL aspects were weak by comparison. I wouldn't even call it a bromance. It was also obvious the director/editor didn't have enough content to fill 2 episodes, which was unfortunate.
My big problem with a lot of gmmtvs recent productions is that they seem have to be given up completely to even…
It took me while to put together a list because that's a bit of an impossible question. Since art is subjective, I know what I consider to be good, isn't what many others do. And since production, artist management and distribution don't always fall under the same company for a series, it's not really possible to say what companies make good series. For example, Netflix distributes a lot of series, but they don't make all of them. And companies that do produce series may make a few great ones and some bad ones, I'm not sure if that type of company should be on the list. Lastly, even for a company like GMMTV that does production, artist management and distribution, a good show comes down to the writing, directing and acting. That's the art. Not necessarily the company that makes/releases the series. Production is more focused on the money, not the art.
With all that said, here's a list of some production and distribution companies who have released good or great BLs in recent years.
Vietnam - Dược sĩ Tiến, RL Studio, O2 PRODUCTION South Korea - STRONGBERRY, IPQ, MODT Studio, WHYNOT MEDIA, W Story, Studio Winsome, RaemongRaein The Philippines - Oxin Films Myanmar - TRUST Entertainment Thailand - Wayufilm Production, GMMTV, One31, Nadao Bangkok, TV Thunder, Studio Wabi Sabi, Mandee (Domundi TV), Be On Cloud, Idol Factory, Rookie Thailand, Mind Trio, Tia51/ Amarin TV Taiwan - Mind Trio, Choco Media, Yoiisz International Media Japan - FOD Premium/Fuji TV, MBS, C & I Entertainment, TV Asahi
Distribution for multiple countries: Netflix, GagaOOLala, Viki, iQIYI
*For countries that don't make many BLs, I listed the companies I know of even if if I don't think their shows are good. (Philippines, Myanmar)
I personally try to give everything a chance if the subject seems interesting and then decide whether I want to continue or not, because social media makes it really hard to know what's good or not so good. But I hope the list helps.
Well that was depressing, it feels like everything fell apart at once 😢. And if we're getting a kiss in episode 5, I can only imagine how much angst and heartache these two are going to experience before this ends. 😮💨
Omg episode 3 was so good! I love a cliffhanger. HuaiEn being more beautiful than most women is too much sometimes, but everyone's reaction to his relationship with Xiaobao is pure gold. I'm loving this show, but also kinda worried someone is gonna tell China and we'll all get in trouble! I'm only half joking, but for real, it would suck if this series ruins anyone's career.
I just accepted that 4 Minutes is going to be the best series of the year. I was not prepared for what I just watched and wow 10/10! And it was the latest reminder of why I can't settle for mediocre acting and plots when there are powerful stories and exceptional actors showing everyone how it should be done.

Yes! It's sad they have so few followers on IG. I hope more people support them, they both seem like nice guys.

Let's all hope that it does become law this year.
