Not sure why I'm being included in "yall". I didn't say one word about him last week. Maybe go respond to someone who actually praised him instead of me.

Idk what's happening and I'm ok with that. I like it a lot so far. I'm here for everyone except Korn, him and gambling storyline are a no from me. But everything else is interesting/entertaining.

I sure hope "Earthquake" insurance is a thing in Thailand....otherwise poor grandma will never get to stop working....…
Que was the best thing about the show IMO

Oh wow! That last 5 minutes/last episode really lowered my rating. Most of the show was pretty average for me. I never felt invested in anything, but didn't hate the majority of the characters.

I binged most of the series and stuck with it mainly because Nammon and Meen are both great actors, I want Frank to finally be in a decent series and I've liked MeenPing since Ai Long Nhai. Even though the street basketball/gang stuff felt completely out of place compared to the rest of the series, I was willing to overlook it because the relationship between Que and Ryu was super interesting. And I loved grandma.

But all the fights, 100s of basketball games, Zen's constant whining plus his actions right before the final game, Atom being irritating, the coach being 8 years older than his daughter and having a serious unresolved alcohol problem, Emi playing the same character in half the Thai BLs taking up screen time from the characters I actually want to see, Ryu's mom being the typical unreasonable parent, study aboard being the default storyline in tooooooooo many Thai BLs, Que's character being forced in the background while Lin and Atom were front and center in way too many scenes, and that last 5 minutes just became too much to enjoy.

It wasn't as bad as My Dear Gangster Oppa. But it could have been sooooo much better. I'm going to do my best to forget this (ESPECIALLY THE LAST 5 MINUTES!!!!) as quickly as possible. But I hope competent production companies see how talented Meen and Nammon are and they both get new roles (BL or not) very soon.

P.S. I will never object to consensual sex scenes. And I'm not mad at 2 horny teenagers who are in love being all over each other. But nearly breaking the bed in the middle of the day with your grandmother literally downstairs is a bit too ridiculous for me. Yeah it was shocking and I laughed, but Ryu's mom left the country, so we know he lives alone. Why not just go to his place instead of doing it loudly in grandma's house while she's right downstairs?

Thank you for your comment. I watched the first 2 episodes and I really liked the actors and Wuxia backdrop, but…
You're welcome. I probably would have preferred the type of show you suggested. But I don't think I've ever seen a Wuxia BL. Bromances, but not actual BLs.

That's mostly why I was looking forward to this one, but I know all BLs aren't made for all BL fans. Many people are enjoying it and I know many people don't have a problem watching series or reading stories with characters I would consider to be horrible.

Oh well, going forward, I'm going to get book spoilers when possible so I don't end up in a situation like this one again. Have a great day!

Thank you for your comment. I watched the first 2 episodes and I really liked the actors and Wuxia backdrop, but…
The rape scene happened in episode 6. From what other commenters said, it wasn't as awful as in the novel. And I don't think what they showed (next to nothing, but it was implied) was as bad as other rape scenes (I can't believe I'm comparing rape scenes 😮‍💨). But the things I enjoyed about the earlier episodes are completely gone at the half way point of the series.

I personally wish I had read novel spoilers before starting this or just waited like you. If I had known what it was about, I would have never watched. But I also feel conflicted because I do want to support the actors. So I followed them on social media!

Nope! I rarely read BL novels. And based on what others have said, I'm pretty sure I'd like the book less than the show.

Vee, Chu and great great grandpa San really redeemed the show after episode 7. But Tao continues to be a liability. And cousin Suchat and that fake woman still need to be beaten! I can't wait for next week.
On Meet You at the Blossom Aug 1, 2024
My interest in this series has taken a nosedive since episode 6. I really liked the earlier episodes, probably because of nostalgia of old Chinese Wuxia "BLs". But I'm realizing now that there are a lot things about older Chinese "BLs" that I don't miss at all.

This show is combining some of the worst aspects of those old series with the worst aspects of My Stand In. But it lacks the intriguing depth of story that was always present in the Wuxia series and the powerhouse acting from the leads in My Stand In.

A series that started lighthearted and a bit campy has become endless sadness, pain, suffering and heartache. And after episode 7, I'm not interested enough in anything or anyone to want to continue. I'm going to put this on hold and maybe pick it back up when it ends.
On Century of Love Aug 1, 2024
It's so hard to watch a show that you love devolve into predictable bullshit. Yes, all of the drama of episode 7 was telegraphed weeks ago, but that didn't make it any less frustrating to watch.

One thing I really loved about this show was that it didn't have awful, obsessed, vindictive women. Chu, Rat and Grandma all cared about San and Vee and behaved like normal sane people. And then Wad showed up and turned the show into every other BL with the worst woman possible. Maybe I'm tired of watching series about men/boys who love each other and being forced by lazy writing to hate the female characters. As a woman, it's really exhausting to see crazy evil lying women in so many series while watching a genre that has a very large female audience. I guess I'm just disappointed that it's happening again.

I REALLY hope the last 3 episodes aren't as miserable as episode 7. Most of the actors are doing a good job, don't let the writers ruin this!

I really respect you for posting your opinions. This is obviously not the type of MDL page that allows for differing…
Sometimes I wonder why certain shows/ships have fans who can't deal with differing opinions. I think there are a lot of factors mainly extreme parasocial relationships, a view by some that all shows are perfect and anyone who disagrees is inherently wrong and should be immediately silenced. A lack of understanding by some that BL is a business and companies need viewers more than they need a small tribe of defenders chasing other prosepctive viewers away. People who are unable/unwilling to debate ideas, feedback loops on social media, the inability to see others as equals whose opinions are valid and the need some people have to always be right. I could list many others, but I do miss the days of MDL when it didn't feel like sharing an opinion was dangerous and could cause days worth of attacks and bullying.

But I'm glad that all of the MDL pages aren't so hyper factional.

I loved the way you said like a fool, ill be back next week lmao
I'm not sure why my opinion matters to you. But if you believe that episode 1 was great, even if the show doesn't get better, it will still be great. When you've seen hundreds of BLs like I have, it's hard to have high expectations when a series starts out as poorly as I think this one did. A series like this usually ends up with a MDL rating around 7.6. But every series has people who love it and people who don't. I also think that is fine.

I know it's foolish to continue and as much as I'm sure this won't get better, I'm willing to give it a couple more episodes. Mainly because it airs on Mondays. The worst shows usually air on Mondays, which can be a fun/braindead way to fill some time on a weekday.

The writing and direction teams on this definitely don't inspire confidence that it'll get better as the series…
True. I think the only thing about this that's better than Middleman's Love is that Yim's character is less over the top. I'd be shocked if this gets better.
On Battle of the Writers Jul 30, 2024
No one can convince me that the companies who make Thai BLs don't think the fandom are fools. Seriously, they really think a great premise, hot guys with wooden acting, perfect hair and clothes, vibrant sets, zero character development, and skinship equals a hit!!!

I don't expect a lot from a first episode, but is it so hard to show any personality traits of your characters? Can I be given any reason to like a character besides "he's cute"? All I know about these people is that they're writers and Ob-un lost his other job. Why must Thai BLs be an endurance test forcing viewers to turn off their brains, accept another fairytale and ask no questions if they want to even partially enjoy a series? What happened to the days when the first episode of a series sucked you in so much that you couldn't wait for next week? What we get now is scene after scene of random events, with people we don't know, thrust together for reasons, racing towards the finish line of an over stuffed episode. That gave me a bunch of flashbacks (of things we JUST saw) and nothing to be invested in. Is watching 5 grown men read books we've never heard of interesting? I don't think so.

I watched Middleman's Love, I watched Playboyy, but idk if I have the patience or energy to watch this. Especially when there are great shows also airing right now. This is pathetic. Like a fool, I'll be back next week 🤦‍♀️

Right..the problematic thing about this show is too damn short....
I like the length of the episodes and I'm glad there are 11, I just get impatient sometimes and can't wait to see what happens next.

IMO no one does slice of life BLs better than Japan. I really loved episode 5, but I also kinda wish I waited and binged the whole series in one sitting. Waiting each week is sooooo hard!
