Honestly, I haven't watched the episode but I completely understand where you are coming. I read the short back…
Good points. Since there's no rule book on how to respond to things you disagree with, especially things on the internet you disagree with, people just do/say whatever they want. Which can be messy sometimes. But have a nice day/night.
I'm seeing a lot of My Beautiful Man comparisons, I can kinda see why, but don't really agree. Hira and Nakano are both quiet loners who may be on the spectrum. And Shiga and Kiyoi are both the coolest guy in school. But tons of BLs (and straight shows) are about the less popular person or person who doesn't fit in, falling in love with the coolest guy in school.
Idk, the first episode was fine. And I liked the back story with the bird. I'll keep watching and how their relationship develops.
I got about half way through the 1st episode and decided to drop it. Nothing held my interest. Plawan is irritating and obnoxious and instead building the story around why Oab is selling the restaurant, they immediately revealed everything.
Once I realized this was directed by someone with almost BL experience, written by the people who made Pit Babe and that most of the actors are also from PB, I knew dropping it was the right choice. The writing for Pit Babe wasn't strong. And it had one of the most unpleasant MDL pages I've ever seen. I'm sure many of those "fans" will be here too, so I'm taking a HARD PASS on this one.
Because I've labeled this as the best Thai BL if 2024 since the first episode, I am choosing to ignore the contrived, absurd and ridiculous scenes from episode 11.
Ming's family drama and loan sharks didn't happen. Joe's mom found out about the contract, the butler/driver with the sweaters has some undefined relationship with Mike, Tong is trash (but we already knew that) and Joe got hurt. I'm ignoring the rest of the episode and looking forward to my happy ending next week!
Also, UpPoom are still my favorite new ship of 2024!!!
This was so close to being groundbreaking, but the second half really dropped the ball and by the end it felt…
I REALLY wanted to love this and I liked the first half a lot. But once the first shoot out happened, the movie switched gears and never found its heart again.
I think having Tai and Boang play such important characters in Kheng's life was a mistake. BL romance isn't what I wanted, but the movie is still love triangle. And in the end someone loses in all love triangles. Tai's connection with Kheng was strong and deep from the start, having him be the only one that faced consequences felt cruel and contrived.
Boang also had a compelling story to tell, but once the focus became fights, guns and blood, the character-driven story ended for everyone. Boang's few second coma also felt contrived and pointless. That should have been the climax of the movie. It's a shame the writing wasn't more consistent throughout because Perth, Bas and Net all did amazing jobs.
Overall, I really appreciate that this was set in Thailand, not filthy rich Thailand, but the place that rains a lot and has plenty of people who aren't rich and doing the best they can for themselves and the people they love. That felt real. I also loved seeing Bas play a character who stood up for and fought for himself. The gang stuff was fine, but became repetitive. I would have preferred it be more character driven throughout and less action driven. But it wasn't bad.
I don't want to be too harsh, so I won't point out all the glaring flaws. But the acting, plot, pacing and character development were all a miss. I've seen most of My Universe, this one was the worst IMO.
The stinger was not on the youtube version. I found it and the stinger was another miss for me
You captured my thoughts perfectly. This writing is getting on my nerves, and that’s saying something. Because…
I think anyone who's sat through 1 or more of Mame's shows has built up a tolence to her foolishness. But the shift from, "it's ok/I kinda like it" to "wtf am I watching and why are they acting like this", was too sudden. We may have all given it a pass a few years ago, but BL is better than this now. Sadly, Mame isn't.
My thoughts exactly! The screeching idiot assistant can't say no to some stranger making her come and do the cleaning…
It's ridiculous and there is no logic in her behavior. I know some people are watching for the GL. I 100% support more GLs being made. But when a character acts like that, I don't care if she is straight/bi/gay or anything else. I just want to fast forward.
Aww you're so sweet. I'm glad my comment was helpful for you. I can't recommend this show. But if you like bad series as much as I do, you'll at least get some entertainment from it 😉
his appearance was cut and they didn't pay him (Yoon), Him (Dew) and Nail (Tor)...
Exactly! It's such a shame that the country subsidies these series, which gives companies and execs the incentive to keep churring them out. But offers limited or no protection to the actors. We know most of the actors are young and probably don't have powerful people helping their careers. So the system is stacked against them from the start.
Idk how it works in other countries, but I recently heard that some actors for a KBL were also not paid. Feels like a terrible trend to me!
100% agree with you. I liked the show because of its comedic element. But then episode 7 happened. When Patrick…
The unfortunate part for both of us is that it was left up to our interpretation. There should have been no doubt if Nicky was actually into it. They could have easily made it into a role-play thing showing he likes rough sex or aggressive foreplay or just had them flirt a bit, start kissing and go for it. But the murky, "was he ok with it or wasn't he?" made a bad episode even worse.
I feel like a fool. Last week I was saying how great the chemistry between Peat and Fort was and this week I had to force myself not to turn it off multiple times. We've all known Mame is a terrible writer for years, but she always hires good looking people and fills each series with enough sex to distract from some of the poor writing. Her formula worked for 3 episodes, but episode 4 was miserable.
I tried ignore the offensive poor guy/rich guy dynamics, the STI situation when no one even considered that Rak may have an STI instead of Mut and Rak literally buying a person!!! But Mook just kept talking and inserting herself into other people's relationship, while behaving like a whiny child who didn't want to share her toy. It all felt gross, ridiculous and pointless.
The show was watchable when Rak and Mut were on the island. Off the island, all the makeup, expensive house and clothes can't hide that there is no substance. Peat and Fort can only do so much. And with so many great shows airing now and coming soon, I don't have the patience to watch something that I fast forward through half the scenes because a screeching little girl can't shut her mouth or mind her business.
I'll give it one more episode because the leads are really great together when other people aren't in the scene.
100% agree. It is unequivocally wrong but, on top of that, it is completely unnecessary. Totally, absolute nonsense.…
Same!!! At first I was thinking Poom would wake up. Then I also thought Patrick would stop. But what happened the next morning 100% confirmed the writer and character thought Patrick raping him was perfectly fine. It was sick and I still can't understand the point of adding the scene. It really doesn't make sense unless they wanted to offend a large part of their tiny audience.

I'm hopeful that the last 2 episodes continue with the same level of quality as episodes 9 and 10.

If you decide to watch it, be prepared for violence, but try to avoid spoilers.
