Finished. I loved it. Watching the last scene of lady you and her son, it occurred to me that they made this movie possible. If he had married FL as his mother had said we won’t be here today.

I guess is one of those movies I want to watch what the alternate timeline with everything going according to plan would look like.
If anyone has a link to that fanfic, please share with me or just tell me what an alternate timeline looks like in your head.

I’m on episode 32 of this really good drama, but I’m so frustrated because at this point, the word “road” in the title needs to be replaced with “hardship,” “struggle,” or any other word that describes what my leads have been going through. BECAUSE WHYYYYY? 😭😭

I don’t even think these people have taken themselves out for ice cream or cake even ONCE since this drama started. It’s just one struggle after another, with the tiniest breathing space in between. Can these people catch a BREAK???

One thing this show has taught me is that what’s yours will find its way to you, no matter how long it takes.

Exhibit A: Shen Jilan aka Xu Lanxiang. That was a full blown “what’s yours is yours” case study.

Exhibit B: Xiuwan aka Wanjie. The universe said, “Not yet, but definitely.”

Peaceful ending

The cast were great, I mean I came because of
Liu Xueyi and Seven, but honestly, I don’t know what kept me hooked, the story or the production.

This show did something very few dramas manage to do. It actually took us through their lives. We saw them as teenagers, young adults, grown adults, and eventually in old age. And I’m not even talking only about the main cast. You watched the lives of the unnamed characters unfold too, the market women, the lady hawking her vegetables… you actually saw these people grow and change alongside the story.

Then the production… goshhhhhhh. The cinematography of this show was WILD. And like I said in my previous comment, everything was just so aligned. The colours, costumes, sets, lighting, locations… my days. Everything worked together so beautifully.

This was such an amazing watch. I genuinely couldn’t put it down. I probably would have finished it much earlier if not for work and life.
I sacrificed sleep for this drama. 😂😂 it had me in a chokehold. 😂

This has to be one of the most beautifully shot C-dramas I’ve watched in a while. Everything just feels… so aligned. The cinematography… my days!

So I’m with you on this one. I said it before and I’ll say it again: Luke has a foul mouth, but he also has that soft cushion/cloud he calls a heart.

I picked a favourite from the lead cast and honestly just ignored the other one. But from what you’ve said about her, I can totally see it now.

And this is NOT me saying she had to do more or behave differently just so Luke wouldn’t look as bad. I think if her character had been a little more compelling to me, she probably would have been more memorable.

All I’m really saying is, your explanation gave me a lot more clarity on her character. I think I just didn’t see her beyond what was happening on the surface while watching.

Luan Nian is so sexxyy especially when he is being arrogant. I honestly don't know what about men like this that draws me to them. 😍😍😍

I expected a whole clarity scene where someone, preferably the HR lady, took her aside and explained everything to her that went down that caused the big misunderstanding, and then a reflection scene too. I love those final clarity scenes lol

I agree with both of you. He definitely had a foul mouth, but she was always so ready to walk away, and I hated that fr.

But then again, he was arrogant and rude, so I can understand why many ladies, myself included, would probably have done exactly what she did.

I think it’s easy for us to have strong opinions because we’re watching as viewers. We’re not the ones actually dealing with a man like that in real life.

He was mostly a walking red flag. For the better part of the show, anyway. And then, for the other part, he was an absolute sweetheart. 😂

That man has a FOUL mouth, but the way he says “I miss you” just shatters all your resolve. Coming from a hard guy like him, it’s honestly the cutest thing ever. 😭 I found myself giggling way too often for my own comfort.

And his styleeeee… OUUUU. His stylist knew EXACTLY what they were doing because why was that man looking that foineee?!?! 😭

I also didn’t think there was any need for a redemption arc for the 5th Prince, especially after they missed the perfect opportunity to give him one when he and the Crown Prince were locked up together. We got to see the Crown Prince in a completely different element, being a troublesome little brother, which I absolutely loved btw. But the writers missed that opportunity, and honestly, I thought they could’ve just ended his story by letting him die and calling it a day

A woman definitely wrote this drama, and you can’t tell me otherwise, especially when it comes to the male characters. At least 80% of them were certified yearners. They were obsessed with their women, and honestly it went a little unhinged with the 5th prince there ngl, but I loved every bit of it.

One thing’s for sure, they went all out with the budget for the fake blood. Lol

And that final move when he stabbed his brother, I GASPED, and watched it at least 77 times and gasped 77 times.

The cast deserves its own conversation because first of all, the two leads were totally eye candies. The chemistry was literally spilling out of the TV, laptop, and phone screen depending on what time I was watching it. They had that kind of chemistry I was giggling and stretching/curling my feet

But Yu Jia Cheng??? My days. 😩

Ngl, at first I thought his acting was a little rigid, but this man really said, “Give me a minute to settle into the role,” because DAMNNNN. The more I watched him, the more he grew on me. This is actually my first time seeing him, but I’ve officially got my eyes on him now. And let’s not even get started on how foine he is.

Overall, the storyline was amazing, the cast absolutely did their thing, and everything just came together so beautifully. It was genuinely such a lovely watch, and I’m so glad I stuck with it.

9.8/10. The drama delivered, the cast delivered, the chemistry delivered. Everyone delivered.
