A skilled actor does not act, they BECOME the character. You do not see them pretending anything. They just LIVE their role. This actor we are discussing is clearly pretending, it is not just his role that forces him to act that way. I can see he is pretending. I dislike it.
Some actor can obviously pretend but they make comedy and chaos out of it, like Ji Sung. I dislike his style. On the other hand, a somewhat similar but very different female counterpart, FL from Incongito Miss Hong, is super catchy and interesting bc she acts and overacts any and every emotion all the time :)

As for male leads who I think are excellent actors and I saw them act very complex roles: ML in My Mister.... Huyn Bin .... Currently ML in Idol I - that is a new megastar, he acts complexity in great detail, ML in To my beloved thief also, even ML in No tail to tell is on his way... Eric Moon and Sung Joon in Discovery of Love.... Sung Joon is great everywhere.... Pyo dad in Typhoon family / judge in Shin's project etc is a master of looking the same in every role yet giving an impression of a distinct unique character; ML in Walking on Thin Ice (and FL too); Imugi in human form and King in Haunted Palace; Judge Cha (a female villain) and Major in Again my Life - the major is soooo impressive acting, all with the tongue and voice; ML and his dad in Flower of Evil; etc etc etc - the Flower o Evil serial killer dad is good anywhere ... The Clown in King and Clown was brand new so sometimes he pretends but still, he left a lasting impression bc somehow his acting was REAL; Uhm Tae Wung as Good ML detective and Ju Ji Hon just in his bad ML role in Lucifer; 2ML in The Nice Guy as a complex villain; ML in Twinkling Watermellon acting a teenager - so perhaps that is not complex enough but is TOTALLY convincing... the performance he did with his "son" from the future when he sings Man in Yellow Shirt is one of the best performance scenes and performances I have ever seen and I am a semi professional dancer.... etc etc etc etc etc ...
ML in Love Divine
I would say ML in Bon Apettit bc he was so enthusiastic and radiant... it was watching a star in making... I am the one who spotted him first and said wow this is a new star...
Then there are comedians, like the FL's Boss in Incognito Miss Hong... etc
ML in Dream Life of Mr Kim
The ML from Tastefully Yours had many good scenes but the drama was not so great; he did a great job in Scarlet Heart Ruyeo
Realistic Sociopath villain from Heo's Diner and also Heo himself LOL as a makjang actor

There are actors who really convey their role well even with less complexity like Lawyer in Woman Who Swallowed the Sun, and villain ML in Queen's House... the good doctor in Queen's house is not bad...

There are lot more skilled male actors bc usually script is in their favor.

Good FLs are harder to find but I was lucky to see the main female villain in The Glory and Nce to Not Meet You, she is a chameleon for sure; western counterparts are Merryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon bc I cannot even guess what they are like in real life, bc their every role is totally different and precisely that character

great catchy makjang actresses like mother in law in Queen's House, loan shark Nan Suk in A Graceful Liar who was also FL in that famous daily First Love that had 64% rating, now FLs in No tail to tell and Incognito Miss Hong are masterful comedians. etc
etc etc , FLs that are pretty good and perhaps on their way to mastery are in Idol I, To my beloved thief, etc A good one was Queen in Moon River

ML and L in Moon's river are FANTASTIC IMPROVISERS, I loved how they copied each other to the last bit, and he even embelished it and acted as a typical tropey drama female omg omg omg... omg he is so good, they got skillZ, RESPECT!!!!

So I have high standards :) and sharp eyes :) I am trained to watch ppl and "grade them" for competitions in dance and I work as a healer so I have intuition and trained eyes

I dont think I want to keep going, this is just what comes first to my mind

Yeah Dynamite Kiss ML tried but still he is not... very skilled. He pretends a lot. Also, he cannot smile well you know that smile that melts you

one thing that annoys me too is her face and lips, how she holds her lips shut tight in a pouting expression, barely mincing her words except when she yells, and how her face has that DISGUSTED look as if she has just swallowed a warty frog, that impatient superior extremely bored annoyed and disgusted look, as her unrully slaves are not following her commands and she is ready to just .... shred them. The face of a nasty Master having to dirty herself to speak with her undeserving, low life, dirty dumb slaves. She is soooo ignorant.

The actress is doing a great job LOL

YES!!! starting from ML who has a "killer thug" reputation but is actually an accomplished professional and small business owner in solar energy and a very kind guy and good parent to his nephew.
and FL who seemed snotty but then said at the end of ep 6 that it was ... I will spoil it now LOL
then the villain dude from Seoul who seemed blood thirsty since ML did something terrible and then it turned out ....

it gets explained at the end of ep 6 that is the cliffhanger :)

That woman is nephew's mom, ML's sister

I saw him for the first time in Perfectly Crazy movie where he is a soft, kind, meek, subservient, helpful, ***emotional** and **smart*** guy and he was FANTASTIC in that role
So I was disappointed to get here and find him as a cartoon character dumb guy... Luckily he is recently showing he has brains but he is ... still... not as smart :) he was obnoxious many times here.

Ater ep 5... wow this drama is moving fast in a positive direction :) I really appreciate the positive healthy messages, a nice warm vibe. and HONEST COMMUNICATION. ML is a great communicator, and FL luckily did not stay jerk for too long, made a U-turn and started telling the Truth rather fast. Yay! They are good role models for a successful pair and actually... parents :)

Ok after this I can see why ppl say that the ML actor is known for picking good scripts. This drama has the right warm, light, deep, humorous, self reflection, communication and teamwork vibe and imo is a real kdrama.

PS - I have no clue where he was telling her he waited for her 36 years and can wait 2 more... Someone online was complaining how toxic it was and I want to check that out... there was a lot in ep 3 that i skipped bc FL was too abusively snotty to the guy being honest with her. I would have screamed if I had seen that scene and her turning her nose up on him...
He is honestly saying something that a person in love WOULD say, often, any parnter and esp spouse needs to hear those words OFTEN. The dude is spilling out his love, that is to be appreciated, not trashed.
So I might have not paid enough attention during the snot phase of the drama. I disliked harassing a kind person just bc he is honest about how he feels in a way that is not super polished yet not out of place.
ADDED LATER: THAT SCENE IS IN EP 6 WHICH I DID NOT SEE YET LOL

Sooo.... I 100% disagree with the person who wrote that scene was toxic... He was courting her and he was crossing the line respectfully, just not like a smooth player - why despise him for that... ???

Well actually it is going to get darker NOW WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH HER SNOTTY SNOWFLAKE FAMILY and also his criminal runaway sister. That's gonna be ugly as sister will try to take nephew with her, and we all know how twistedly toxic loyal the nephew is!!!! and FL's mom and dad will NOT like the unpolished ML.

Never mind.... bv in this drama he acts here as if he started yesterday. It is obvious he pretends :) It might work for historical dramas or fantasy or Weak Hero violence dramas, where you just keep a poker face and speak pompously, ... but that does not work here :)
I remember him from some ancient drama where he was american Daniel and there he was cement too.

Some actors can pull it off and use the same hair, same costuming, AND give impression of a diferent character. THat is the bad guy Pyo dad in Typhoon family AND One High School Heros dad AND a good fun judge in Shin's Project etc etc etc
But.... some cannot ... and this one is one of those.

On the plus side, the drama just started, so he has plenty of chances to show off his acting skills as his character gets more and more complex and deeper. But he better hurry up. It will make the drama a lot better.

Just watched ep 3/half 4.... Imo another woman chasing the ML would speed up the plot and help FL get rid of her snob attitude.
ML is actually a good catch. A guy less polished but honest, hard working and dedicated and ah so in love IS THE CATCH OF THE CENTURY...

Unfortunately, FL is a snotty snob city slicker cheabol and is too dumb to see what is right under her nose - but she is starting to get the idea... The doggy scene in ep 4 is the start ...

ML is too nice and rednecky and has a reputation for being a "killer" so nobody is chasing him, but ISNT THERE SOMEONE who would like to check him out after seeing how nicely he treats the FL?.....
I cannot imagine that ALL women in that village are that dumb to miss that cue....

FL needs to get a kick to her snotty snob bu.t and treat ML well.

Same with the young SFL she is super dumb nasty INSECURE. The nephew is an idiot, very immature guy. That chick is too nasty to love anyone. Give her up

i think his character is even worse since he participated in creating those orders and agreed to it so that he could take FL as concubine

This drama is truly excellent and imo better than Moon River bc the script is a lot better.

So how to make it more popular? Rate individual episodes high. Spread the word. Etc

International fans are not used to excellent dialogue ... but they could remember what it means to talk well and communicate LOL and they could like it. Bc it is really precious and the entire West is LOOKING FOR IT, just in wrong ways. So let's explain to them that they found what they have been looking for.

ML-FL here are equals in their relationship and communicate rather openly and honestly. It is not perfect, there are some hiccups. they are young and their backgrounds come with tons of bs baggage, but they keep improving. They are already a pretty good team and becoming a model pair for gender equality, good relationship skills and communication, and generally, a very profound mature deep long lasting love. ML is already quite exemplary in how he treats her and talks with FL. We are waiting for her to grow up a little more too.

Another great love drama is Idol I, which has NO icky childish anio! lies and overbearing CEO tropes and such sh.t. ML tried to misbehave in his entitled tantrumy old ways, SELF REFLECTED real fast and made a U-turn in 1 episode, cleared of his character flaw LOL
Idol I is a very strong drama about two grown ups, already established in their lives as top not professionals, becoming a strong pair, and it was in top 10 Netflix global for 3 consecutive weeks.

In this drama, ML did the same thing, in about 2 or 3 episodes.. Being a very young, inexperienced Joseon prince dealing with avery young, inexperienced commoner, that is a SUPER FAST AND PROFOUND U-turn and transformation LOL

Top dramas really make that U-turn very profoundly.
Weaker dramas have this U-turn happen later and weaker.
But a total trash drama on wrong premises, like Dynamite Kiss or Can this love be translated, can be popular :( for wrong reasons ....

Anyways, we the audience can promote this drama. It is top notch indeed.

Luckily, other romcom airing now also have solid attempts at teamwork and communication and are progressing - No Tail to Tell, Spring Fever, Positively Yours, also have overall positive messages and warmth and lightness and humor that is the trademark of real kdramas.

I hope you didnt lose interest in FL just bc of ONE stupid scene.
She has a lot of strong scenes
