I just started this series this weekend and love the twists and turns. Like a Chinese Sherlock with flair (I’m liking this better tbh). The face cards alone are serving nonstop. WXY is fine af. How do all these Chinese actors look so damn good with long hair?! He Lou Lou too! Those eyes and that jawline. And CYW is a cutie pie whose innocence and simple devotion you just want to protect.
I’m actually glad the romance is muted (I picked this as my next watch because of this) and focuses on the intelligence of our MCs. It’s especially refreshing to see an intelligent FL holding her own. None of them are, nor are they looked down on for their intellect and the men support them- I love it.
The story keeps unfolding in interesting ways that keep me hooked. I wish I had started it on Saturday because I have to work in a few hours and I’m only on episode 13. 😫
I was feeling the same at that point. Thinking this is too young/silly for me, I don't get it. Now on ep 11 and…
I am a fan of pretty 😊 Thank you for your suggestions. I’ll give the danmei and drama you mentioned a go. I have read some of Heaven Official’s Blessing and seen that it has an anime adaptation. Was there also a live action drama?

I can understand that. Sometimes we drama addicts need a “reset” after so many dramas in a row. I’m close. There are several drama I’ve liked after starting but have been too distracted and unmotivated to continue. There are some new ones I’m just sitting on, even though I’ve been anticipating their release, too. I call it the Drama Fog.
I’ve just started watching this. I’m almost done with E2 … The CGI is killing me. It’s so bad. I already know who the black robed guy is. It’s crazy obvious. Not sure I can finish this. I doubt the CGI improves.

I'm so hooked. RIP me. I need to find something like this (if such a thing exists) that I haven't watched yet. China needs to come out with another period BL, please and thank you! Kill to Love was good (like, I loved it). I need the world build that comes with The Untamed, though. THAT is more rare.

It's up to you. I watched it for the first time a week ago and I've already re-watched it again and read all the volumes of the novels. Next is the anime on CrunchyRoll. Followed by doses content on IG. The Extras alone in the novel had me stuck for a couple days... If it hasn't grabbed you by episode 15ish, it probably isn't for you. (Not sure if you meant you watched up to E9 or you watched 5+ an additional 9 episodes.)
But if it's not for you, it's not for you. I'm in love with Wei Ying. That kind of carefree mischievous type who is also lowkey brilliant is my happy place. Bonus if they're fine af.
This happens in a lot of dramas. It’s to protect their “modesty” obviously, so they can show full body shots.…
Real. I know they do it a lot. I just wish they wouldn't. It always makes me roll my eyes at the absurdity of it. They can get the full body shots if there are bubbles. Then we viewers can happily imagine what's going on under the bubbles...
Yeah, that scene in the bathroom. And it wasn't only the shorts. Suds kept appearing and disappearing on Jun's…
Inconsistencies abound, but are minor distractions. They could have just strategically placed bubbles in the tub to “hide” important bits more suggestively. No one takes a bath with underwear on unless you’re in public.
I was confused about Aun’s role for a while, too. Sorn’s brother is supposed to be straight, if I remember correctly. He’s just the 3rd wheel (or 5th wheel) no matter where he goes ! 🤭
Ok. So SE2, for me, was better than the entire series. And I did enjoy the series. Boat nailed the look of utter adoration of his partner so well. Like, every look was 100% pure 😍. Even the NC scenes were more love than lust. Overall, I’m happy with the ending. 😊
As a side note, why you’d need to wear shorts in the bathtub when you’re in your hotel room with your significant other whom you’d been very intimate with is beyond me. That was my only 🤔 moment. And why were Penny and Jun were at the same resort as them in the first place…? Just so we can see them together?
Theme is such a good looking man. I hope to see him take a lead role soon. Super easy on the eyes. Bro is gorgeous. Just saying.
So for the sake of clarity, I read the very short manga. It’s just as messy as the live adaptation. And the 1st two episodes pretty much follow it. The manga is only 5 chapters, so 6 episodes makes sense. There really wasn’t a deep point to it- seems like it’s all about Odajima’s “growth” and acceptance of his past and feelings- vaguely. These two have sex and somehow grow/acknowledge feelings, but there is no deep dive to explain these feelings. The heir to the group wants him dead because he doesn’t want him to inherit the group when his dad dies. Hw thinks dear old dad will leave the group to Kataoka, so he wants him taken out. The guy who cautions him by his dad’s bedside tried to tell him, but he didn’t listen to him until too late.
Not sure how I feel yet. Was it SA or did the guy just let him do whatever? Because he lets him do whatever and actively participates the next time, so it seems like he’s not against what happened. The Nc scene looks like they’re pretending to pretend to have sex. You get me? Like, all sexual scenes don’t really look like they’re doing anything. In the car, there’s barely any movement, but I’m supposed to believe someone is going at it hard enough to shake the car? Odajima’s body isn’t even shaking… The mouth wipe with the oral? None of these scenes are even remotely convincing- not even if I blur my eyes and dim my screen.
I’m actually just curious why Odajima thinks he killed his friend/partner/whoever he is to him, and what really happened. But also, just passively curious. 2 episodes in and I really could wait until it’s done to skip through the series to find my answers.

Just curious if you’ve picked up the series since the last post… I’m not over them. And the novel! I just finished all 5 (I’m a fast reader). New depth to the long, lingering looks they give each other 🤭
I don’t think I’ll ever get over how it was for Cao Weining and Gu Xiang. Nope. That’s really the only time I shed any tears because WHY?! And was that really, TRULY necessary?
But having finally watched this series I’d been putting off for no good reason, I’m glad I did. It was well executed. I enjoyed myself immensely.
Now, after a day or so to recover, I’ll need to fill it with another highly recommended Chinese BL I’ve put off (I also finished The Untamed last week).
I think Jun not wanting their relationship out there has more to do with their positions at work and less about…
I believe you are correct. The “out” was already there. It’s the senior/junior dating that he was concerned about. But I bet the office will care about as much as they cared about his older “brother” CEO’s son dating a junior. That is, not at all.
