I don’t care how the m/f couple progresses. The majority of the screen time should be the m/m couple. I found myself 10-second skipping past the m/f parts as it is, shortening an already short episode. 6 more episodes to go. Here’s to hoping Heesu and Seungwon get more. I would have preferred chicken over a guitar. Very clear this episode was about Jiyu and Chanyeong. 6-day wait, here we go…
Oh man. This was one of those amazingly good movies I’ll never watch again. 💔Both Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum were amazing as always. I really wanted a different (unrealistic) ending because SeoBok is such a sad character. Bo Gum did amazingly well with this role.
OMG this series and S1 were SO good! I need a season 3. I hope we get it. The emotional roller coaster they put me through…I love everything about this and S1. Of course I don’t like how people go missing, but the message of hope and justice is what I mean. With how it ended, S3 seams highly likely. I hope we don’t stay on the edge of the cliff due to lack of funding or whatever.
Perhaps u wanna try Taxi driver.. it has the same vibe, and it has 2 seasons, already..or Bloodhounds.. enjoy…

I watched Cutie Pie and Bed Friend a over a year ago I believe, so my scale was much different then. I’m more discerning with so many more series under my belt. Now, I think I’d give them 7 at the very MAX. Though I did enjoy Ameiro Paradox and rewatch quite frequently, so I’d leave it’s rating as is. I take series with the intention of the director when I rate. I ask: was I entertained? Did the actors make me believe their characters? How cringe was it? LITA Thai vs LITA Japan rate WAY different for me. Same storyline but WAY different delivery.
But to each their own. I don’t judge others for their rating because they’re OPINION-based. Crazy, right?
This adaptation really is doing Dakaichi justice. It has all the elements of the manga and Jin and Akin’s characters are spot on. I’m in love with this series. After E4, I’m hooked with no escape. It really was mischievous Jin all the way. The honey y’all. Who knew honey could be a main character?!
On a side: I really can’t help but think about how they felt filming that NC scene and REALLY want to see the BTS 🤭They’re giving BossNoeul/FortPeat in terms of “IDGAF let’s do this as real as possible” and the willingness to go next level really makes it more believable than scenes when the couples just roll around and neck kiss tbh. Like who just kisses necks when hormones are raging?! And who deep kisses with no tongue? It’s always been a thing for me, though I understand why directors don’t insist their actors do so- the intimacy has the potential to blur lines.

I kind of feel like they had an emotionless and passive vibe first because he was a shy type and then because he was fooled and felt betrayal which shut him down. That’s what I’m assuming for now. if he stays emotionless and the vibe doesn’t pick up, then I’ll change my opinion. Especially after the emotionally charged Secret Relationships series.
It was cute but not as strong as I would have hoped. The vibe was very passive, colorless, and pretty emotionless tbh. But maybe that’s the point. If the vibe and colors change as the storyline progresses, that’d be great. I feel like I already know what happened and will happen though, from E1 to the epilogue to the teaser for next week. Either way, I’ll likely enjoy it. 😊
I believe I understand the characters quite well. There are plenty other shows and movies I’ve watched- thousands of hours in all kinds of genres from many different countries, as I am quite a bit older than you may think. 😉
I get the character, Tong. He is a brand new 20-year old and an orphan. He loves music and connections with others. Him being an orphan means he has some unavoidable psychological issues around relationships, whether he realizes it or not. (Even if the writer tries to explain it away with his scene telling Joss he never felt like he was abandoned because of the orphanage woman who’s been like a mother to him- his actions and feelings about relationships say otherwise. Though I doubt the writer delves too deeply into this psychological trauma for the sake of time- I’m also a psychology major and have worked work with children and teenagers who come from a variety of backgrounds for years part of my real life job. Even adopted children in loving homes has some issues with connections and relationships from my experience with such young people.) Tong is a naive and innocent country bumpkin who was excited to break free from the confines of his sheltered life and experience the world in the twinkling starlight of Bangkok. He’s kind of courageous, but in a fake it til you make it sort of way because he needs to prove that he can survive and thrive on his own without sheltering. He’s suddenly found out he’s been lied to his whole life by the person he thought of as a mother. He suspects his only friend was false but easily forgives him because he believes in the spirit of friendship (and that need for connection)- naively, due to his lack of experience. At about the same time he’s finding out he’s been lied to, he discovers that vampires exist and are not what myths say, and that he’s got some super special blood vamps all want and find irresistible. But he still wants to live a normal life free from the constraints that bound him back home. Amidst all this, he’s experiencing the first hints of lust/love with a dangerous being and discovering new friendships (and eventual shattering of his naive and limited beliefs of relationships).
While the acting is good, I can’t not see Gawin’s age is inappropriately cast. If an actor who was 40 were cast in the role, despite him being an amazing actor, it wouldn’t matter because the actor is too old for the role. Same for someone who was much younger than 20- like a 14 or 15 year old. Even if their acting skills are top notch, age does matter and the actors need to look the age, or as close to it as to be believable, of the character their cast. I watched the videos of the director and the pre-air special so I know what the director was thinking when he cast JossGawin. I get why he chose them, I maintain that he’s either not written well or the directing-acting/casting is off because I am not as convinced as you are.
I edited to say that I agree that Gawin has definitely benefited from not being couple locked like other Thai BL actors. This really helps him be able to work with others and hone his craft. The age of couple locking Thai BL actors needs to end for this reason and because the fandoms get hateful and toxic (as we see with anyone Ohm has paired with after Nannon). Or the stagnancy some couples face when they’ve been cast in the same character roles over and over again with their couple partner. I’ve given up on a lot of pairings because of this stagnancy because the acting skills never truly progress for them. I’m glad Gawin hasn’t fallen into that trap- so far. I do wonder if GMM will make JossGawin official though. Their chemistry feels really believable and authentic. That’s something you can’t fake.
I have seen Gawin in Not Me, Dark Blue Kiss and Be My Favorite and loved him in those roles. Especially Be My Favorite. I haven’t seen Joss in anything before, though. I still giving this series time to grow- I rarely drop a series and those I do drop, rarely before episode 5. Sometimes I come back after several episodes because of curiosity. I mean, I stayed and watched the hot mess that was SangminDinneaw (time I’ll never recover). I think some things are subject to viewer preference, and I rarely stomach pouty mouths on grownups. Especially when it happens often. Also overly whiny adults. It gives me the ick. Or cringy singing scenes. OMG, when the guitar comes out I’m pushing that 10 sec skip like its my lifeline! There’s only one or two actors I haven’t done that for- William is one.

People may disagree with you- I think they’re diehard fans of JossGawin, but I’m not a diehard of any actor so I’m free to agree. Which I do. I don’t like the pouty mouth on most actors who look older noticeably older than the scripted age. (I dislike the pouty mouth in general, unless it’s a primary or early secondary student). It’s also hard for me to see actors I know are older do the same, like Earth (Santa’s old partner) in Fourever You. Or ForceBook. Maybe it’s because I’m older too. No matter how good an actor you are, you can’t just use mannerisms and acting to be younger when you don’t look it. There are a few older actors who pull it off for me, like Noeul. Noeul looks like a uni student and the pouty thing works for him for some reason. I won’t be able to watch it for too many more series though. I wish the setting was for an older Tong. Like 24. He can still be a naive and innocent country bumpkin at 24. I appreciate his acting, but, in my opinion, neither Joss nor Gawin look like a brand new 20 year old first year uni student, despite their acting and amazing chemistry (the chemistry is literally the only reason I haven’t dropped it yet- well, that and because I don’t want to let go of all that anticipation I had leading up to this series). I’m hoping for greater character development in Tong. Maybe 5 or 6 will give it to me. I’ll stick around until then. I think.
