Just finished this drama recently and I'm glad all things end well! Worth the watch even though it's not some big production and story is mainly focused on one issue which is the FL's fear of exposing her true self. The actors definitely played their characters well given that all the cast actors actually didn't had much experience in acting.
I'm actually very glad that there isn't much unnecessary romance but rather focused on the development of 4 of the leads' growth and acceptance towards each other. It somehow seem to me that the 4 of them were each other's lifesaving straw at the moments they felt like ending their live.
I also like how this drama and many Korean dramas alike touched upon sensitive topics of school bullying and unrealistic shallow beauty standards that the Korean society and many other countries craze about all this while. It really showed how shitty the education system has been and nobody cares to make a change to the education structure... Teachers can't be bothered about bullying or to mediate the harmony of their students' relationship. Students always trying to diet so they can be "unrealistically" skinny like most sought after idols or the popular ones at school.
The plot is not entirely perfect and some scenes are amateurish but I like it because it didn't have that forced push of development like characters attracted/hating each other for no reason like the ones in The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim when it's led by both experienced actors.
PS. I know some shippers were hoping that Ae Jin and Ho In would become a couple but honestly it's very clear that Ae Jin never once thought of him as a love interest but rather it's Kim Jin Sung that she likes but have no courage to say so. For Ho In's case, he similarly didn't approach her because he is attracted to her, it's more like he knows she is the same kind of person like him that's why he found her interesting at first before he kinda got swayed with his feelings contemplating if he likes her as an love interest or just because they are comfortable as friends who can confide everything to each other. Yang Haneul and Kim Ho In did got back with each other in the end after experiencing so much and knowing how to treasure each other!
I have just started watching recently and I must say it's unexpectedly good!!! The story content and main actors' definitely is an upgrade from past low budget webdramas~ How I wish for the those mainstream dramas can learn from this one, so much more quality compared to those big named actors...
That was one heck of a rushed ending... I wish they took more time to explore the main couple's romantic development…
To answer your question of the rushed ending. Actually there is 10 parts of short extras to continue with the Lu Shi Yi and Xia Xiao Ju's marriage life. But as far as I know these extra episodes are member's only so I'm not sure where you can watch it for free.
Hmm honestly I had lots of anticipations for this drama because it had all the actors that I appreciate and look up to! But it felt kinda underwhelming though as I pushed through to finish this drama...
The main problem was both the main leads literally spent their entire high sch and university years to know if they had any feelings for each other (mainly Lu Shi Yi) while Xia Xiao Ju not able to get over her crush for the longest time ever even when she knew it's impossible to progress any further.
But overall, I would say it's a very realistic plot and I believe many people would have experienced the similar situation that occurred in the drama. Like how Huang Jun cheated on Qiu Le Tao because he didn't know how to set boundaries and regretted afterwards and how things just didn't work out for Lin You and Cheng Lang. I honestly saw so much of these things happening around me when I was in college. What I can say is first love hardly last in real life unlike dramas.
It made me realized that it's a process of growing up and all the sweet imagination from romance dramas don't really happen in real life! Even with the scenes of Xiao Ju struggling to pass her Accountancy course and future seems bleak for her is very real because it happened to me too...
To me it's a great drama with logic and lots of details that may just make you think of your school days though the last episode was super rushed as they make the closing. But if you are just looking for a sweet soothing kind of romance drama then this may not be your cup of tea~
To be honest, I hasn't watch such a down to earth kind of romance drama in quite a while and I must say content wise it's definitely done well and splendid casting choice!
So to start off, I would like to commend on Wallace Chung and Li Xiao Ran for their great chemistry! They didn't had any problems showing all the complicated emotions their characters had and I'm really thankful that all the side characters are not just tools in this drama. Just that Wallace Chung really should practice a little bit more on his Mandarin accent, every time he had to deliver long lines I was literally laughing instead of diving into his emotions but I'm super glad that he tried even though he knows it's not perfect. Even Morni Chang who acted as Nie Dong Yuan carried his role really well to the point that made me felt so annoyed like some super stubborn/self-entitled elderlies that we meet in real life!
And to comment on who suffered more in the relationship, I actually feel both of them had suffered equally the same. A lot of viewers sympathized that Tan Jing as a woman suffered more as she repay all the debts on her own and take care of her sickly child but if we look at both their situation, Nie Yu Sheng also couldn't live a proper live as well. He was entirely on his own when he fell into depression, it was a huge mental breakdown which is a really dangerous issue for anyone who suffers them in real situation.
For what I really hate about this drama is the "hypocrisy" and how two-face the head doctor is. In one of the episodes, Sun Zhi Jun got into a fight with Nie Yu Sheng at the hospital due to doubts of the new medical treatment and the matter escalated to their head. Out of fit, the head just suddenly called off the surgery that the son needed desperately... Though the head made it sounded like he cancel it to protect his doctor and to punish the parents but in fact, he had no care if he was jeopardizing the son's live who was the actual patient! On the other hand when Nie Dong Yuan found out that Sun Ping is his real grandson, the head doctor here acted as though he is very concerned for the grandson when he was the one who took away the opportunity to have the surgery done way earlier!
And another thing is as the drama progressed halfway, it became quite a drag mainly due to the slow fight between Nie Dong Yuan and Tan Jing and distrust between the leads...
But overall, it's definitely one of the better dramas released in recent years when we are all flooded with shitty "romance dramas!
So, theories - LSQ just happens to fall into a glitch in the matrix. So does XHY. They're the only ones asleep…
Hahaha for the "glitch of matrix" or not, I'm just saying it's not explained by the drama and also because I didn't read the novel so we all don't know how did it happen...
So, theories - LSQ just happens to fall into a glitch in the matrix. So does XHY. They're the only ones asleep…
Err I think you got confused... The house I meant was right after they got down from bus and Xiao He Yun still had blood on him so Li Shi Qing bought him to a house to wash up first whereby it happened to be in same neighbourhood the police was searching for Tao Ying Hong and the man with a luggage house... They only went Lu Di's house after they discover the police.
Omg! Let me shower my love for the drama first! Splendid cast and quite a fresh genre in Chinese dramas! I'm glad Zhao Jing Mai finally took up a role that suit her very well and not to say how much she has improved as an actress, I would she has successfully made a break though into an adult actress and no longer just under the shadows of other more successful similar age actress!
Bai Jing Ting too did a really great job portraying a character that could seem boring and two-dimensional, both his and Zhao Jing Mai's character grew at a nice pace as the story built up. I'm really thankful that he finally got the chance to prove his worth as an actor and not just some "idol" star! Kudos to their chemistry and professionalism despite the age gap and WOW I am satisfied with a proper and hilarious romance they had!
All of the romantic moments didn't seem awkward and you can see the director did not try to shove us with fake romance and typical "sugar" scenes like many big budget dramas did in 2021 and not to mention all the details in the entire script. I almost want to cry when I saw the drama is so serious with the story!
The good thing about this drama is that it allowed me as an viewer to feel like I'm involved in the situations too. I felt the emotions strongly as the story progressed and the scenes made me think too what the ways to stop the explosion, not just following the flow of the drama!
Just some parts that I feel are loopholes! First is definitely the unexplained part where Zhao Jing Mai being pulled into the cycle for no reason. Second, whereby the policemen that appeared in every cycle, like do the policemen just stopped in their time once the next cycle starts or do both the main leads disappear from being investigation suspects in previous cycle like they didn't exist from the start and the police continues the investigation that will never derive at an answer? Third would be a confusion for me when Li Shi Qing brought Xiao He Yun to a house to wash away the blood when Xiao He Yun accidentally stab the murderer in one of the cycles. It felt very odd for me like why Li Shi Qing knows the area so well and even managed to escape the police's search as though she lived there... (Maybe I had missed out on the details! ><)
Overall, really great drama and super worth it to watch it not to mention how short the drama is! Don't be worry about weak story plots because it's NOT! And if you are looking for interesting genres to watch and not just those brainless "beautiful" idol dramas then this will definitely be great one!
You would be surprised how realistic some of these themes are. Favoritism, athletes being spoiled and feeling…
I'm not saying favoritism and athletes who are spoiled is not real... What I meant was how can they be so unprofessional. Like it's their career and all of the senior athletes ganged up as though they can do without the team. Why I say Xiao Han is selfish is because he is only a coach for the school team not like he is in a national team assigned to solely one leading athlete... Though I know it does happen in real life too. And another thing is that they could have done it like the Korean drama "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo", they too are more focused on romance parts but they also did a great job how sports can be portrayed in such dramas. Just hope to clear the misunderstanding here.
Honestly this drama could have been much satisfying if there wasn't this much loopholes... I was very much into it thinking Mooyoung was going to exert revenge on FL's brother right from the get go judging from his sinister looks... End up he didn't even know the brother was the one that killed his dad years ago until he kinda regained his memory halfway through the drama. SO I was confused like so why did he intentionally get close to the siblings when he actually had no memories of them??
Another loophole that I thought was frustrating, the brother was strongly against them together when the plot "hinted" the 2 of them may actually be real siblings, that's why the brother was so offensive towards the matter but in the end again he was only scared because he think mooyoung will end up hurting jinkang... I mean all this mess could have just explained properly and calmly between the guys...
I get it that jingook the brother felt very guilty of what he had done in the past but don't he feel sorry and want forgiveness from mooyoung instead of trying to get rid of him with the stab? isn't is going to increase his guiltiness?
Last is the Secretary working for the Jang Family. I'm actually quite lost as to why isn't there any form of explanation when he killed both of them in the end? Like he had actually changed 2 siblings he was serving before they died because of the same person, like is he that loyal that when he took the order from CEO, he just goes to kill without any personal emotions??
Lin Yu Fen wasn't the main director for this drama. I wasn't very impressed with this drama either, I only stayed…
I just hope to see better projects for her in the future. I mean she the boss and has all the resources to pick a good project instead always taking "trendy" ones. I don't have any issues with her acting just hoping for better dubbing which I don't feel it's the best she has done in this drama.
And stop implying everyone who points out her flaws are haters or whatsoever, I mentioned the problems because I have seen her in many productions already and recent years' dramas in particular are not really that great for her.
Lin Yu Fen wasn't the main director for this drama. I wasn't very impressed with this drama either, I only stayed…
Which is why I say I'm quite neutral about yang mi's acting style. If she just want to earn money then she really got to bare with the criticisms from the not so generous audiences. I mean she seemed to be trying to label herself as a "real professional" actress now and even boasting about how she used her own voice and did her own voice dubbing like she should have done it years ago...
I am quite disappointed with this drama actually and some more directed by Lin Yu Fen... there are multiple problems to the plot and I guess due to censorship, quite a few scenes was deleted as well. To which resulted to scenes not able to link up properly to the next one.
Xu Kai Cheng may look good and suitable for the role of a mad emperor but his posture always throws me off right when I'm immersed in the story... He really could have done a lot better with his posture and expressions. Just don't have a strong image for a emperor.
The skin smoothing filter and tight hairline for William Chan, I would say it's really a bad decision. It really made him look so much more rounded on his face and body so much that it didn't fit in with his character anymore. And I'm not very sure but it seems to me that he kinda worked too much on his shoulders and chest that when he had to bare his upper body, he looked really off and "heavy" when trying to walk or turn in those scenes. It just didn't scream a good sculpted bodyline to me and I was feeling the secondary embarrassment whenever he does that.
For Yang Mi, I would say her acting style has been quite fixed since 10 miles peach blossoms and no major difference in how she depict her character as well. I'm quite neutral about it just her false eyelashes bothered me quite a bit.
Overall for me isn't the best because I totally guessed who was the ultimate evil character right when the prince Suo Lan first appeared, his facial expression was literally telling every audience he is the hidden evil one and his reason for plotting all this is quite ridiculous to me... and a lot of scenes were cut off so I'm sure with the complete story, the entire drama would have been so much better!
Sorry to say but I was utterly disappointed with the story plot... I understand that the drama was towards a rom-com, relationship that supports each other's growth kind of direction but how can athletes be so unprofessional??? It's not just small arguments or seeking justice from their coaches but literally immature behavior and SUPER lacking in professionalism. The drama made it seem like sports is really easy to "learn" in short period of time which is honestly very unrealistic and I'm actually very confused if the school is set in a sports Uni or just a popular Uni with various sports club because these was simply too many hobby clubs plus having need to attend regular lessons which isn't realistic as well since most athletes trains at least 5 to 7 hours daily.
Another thing is I really find the head of ice sports dept beyond annoying! I have never seen such biased HOD giving up on athletes so easily like they want to quickly dispose of dirts away from them. Not to mention how selfish was Coach Xiao Han wandering between FL and the girl he was personally training!
I must also say everyone aside from the main leads are just like tools for the development of main leads only, even though they made it seem like there are several side characters' story, its all one dimensional.
LAST THING I need to rant about is the plot with the FL's mum! I have not seen such unreasonable and authoritative mum for such a long time in dramas! Everytime, I see her scenes I can only skip to save myself from being frustrated!
A note for people who wants to watch, if you like sweet/cute interactions with main leads then it's ok to watch plus both of them are really good looking. If you can be unbothered by the unrealistic setups, then it will still be enjoyable!
I enjoyed the series a lot! Way better than I expected. It has a lot of twists and turns. It's not a typical zombie…
I enjoyed the drama too! But for me, I would say the plot was predictable for me in a good way since one of Han HyoJoo's line kind of give it away what will happen in the story when she said: "Trying to be Happy always seems to be the hardest". To which I felt that the director was trying to convey the message to us audience that happiness not come easy and telling us to treasure what we have, it's clearly portrayed in the entire drama.
Just finished watching the drama and it's such a cure for the lack of blockbuster dramas in 2021! I am quite satisfied with the overall story and pacing.
I do realized a lot of intimate/kissing plots seemed to have to removed in many dramas produced during this period though, I'm not sure if it's due to covid-19 safety measures but many of the scenes that could add in some intimate moment was missing from the story. The ending though was quite predictable for me since it's title is Happiness, they can't possibly make it a sad ending nor open ended. But I must say how Han Hyojoo and Park Hyung sik's character got together was real quick and I was like "wow that was super fast!".
Park Hyungsik really suit this type of "inner psycho but super gentle to his loved one" kind of character and I'm really impressed that he is always able to make it very "couple" believable no matter which actress he pairs with!
Honestly I'm very disappointed with how his agency manages his work... I not sure if he did offend anyone in the industry or what but his career seems to be at a low point after appearing in Cheese in the Trap... No variety programmes, no good scripts nor dramas and so little promotions for his latest drama which was the Genesis! I really appreciate seeing him able to be more active but this doesn't seem to be happening...
I'm actually very glad that there isn't much unnecessary romance but rather focused on the development of 4 of the leads' growth and acceptance towards each other. It somehow seem to me that the 4 of them were each other's lifesaving straw at the moments they felt like ending their live.
