Suige my guy seriously can’t catch a break! *sigh* I really enjoyed the scene with the Emperor, but I can’t imagine how painful it must have been for him to learn about his father’s role in his mother’s death.
That reveal completely caught me off guard because somehow I did not see it coming! But wow hot damn!
Honestly, while the Prime Minister definitely delivered the final blow with sword, I think the Emperor shares just as much blame.
From an emperor’s perspective, I can understand his motives and the pressure, the desire to shape Suige into a ruler but as a father, he completely FAILED with a captial F.
And I kinda suspected he was faking it near the end..lmao turns out I was right. The moment he opened his eyes, I was shocked! He is definitely sick (maybe even dying?), but even from his deathbed, the man is still scheming! 😅
Thank you for reading my review Heracin! ❤️
But yes I was also happy with final group 🔥❤️
She stole the imperial emblem( the one that grants authority and control to those in power) from the emperor and fled with Xia Jing Shi. When Suige tried to stop her, she threatened him by holding a knife to herself, even hurting herself to force him to let them go. In the process, she ended up wounding him too, showing once again that the only person she truly cares about is her so-called “husband"
It was a mess! she made me so upset!
Her character is very difficult to reason with. People often say "love is blind" and in her case that seems painfully true. She is fully aware that the man does not LOVE her, yet she still chose to put her own brother in such a difficult position.
That isn’t naivety...its pure malice and selfishness in my eyes. Especially considering that her brother has done nothing but care for her devotedly all his life.
Suige was still protecting her till he could , even though he was injured himself. *physically and emotionally*
At one point, I honestly wished an arrow would "accidentally" strike her because I know she would eventually return to stir up more shit.
*sigh*
Kudos to the actress for portraying the role with such conviction that I find myself genuinely disliking the character
I do think the Emperor genuinely cares about Suige, but so much has happened between them. Suige still holds grudges and rightfully so at least until we learn the full truth about what really went down. The Emperor’s behavior toward him in the past was undeniably harsh as well.
But in the present, he does seem to care. For example, he specifically called Suige to warn him about the hearing (even if it was more like a summon and an angry one). And when Suige sent that letter...lol you could clearly see the pride on his face.
I really hope we get to see more interactions between them because there is clearly more to the story. Somehow, I feel the Emperor isn’t as cold or cruel as he tries to appear.
Everything just aligned here...the visuals are gorgeous, the story has me hooked and both leads can actually act. And their chemistry is everything ❤️
Hoping second half is as good as the first half way 🔥🔥
Thank you for the recommendation Dusty and the award too! ♥️♥️
Like you mentioned, it felt they forgot to talk to each other considering how well they were doing in the first half.
But overall it was a good one time watch.
Thank you for reading my review ❤️ Appreciate your comment!
I wish we got more character growth here and a better romance. The angst a little too much for the premise. I actually lost interest in the second half a bit , so rated this a 7 !
But lol yes the last kiss suprised me too! 🤣
Always love reading your reviews! ❤️
We meet Luna, who has Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder (something I had never heard of before and immediately found fascinating) and Harry, who works at a radio station giving love advice while navigating life in a wheelchair.
Because of the fast pacing, the characters don’t get deeply fleshed out, but even at surface level, the drama managed to hit some important notes. I especially appreciated how it touched on Harry’s life as a PWD. We don’t dive deep into her struggles, but we do see glimpses like the everyday challenges of choosing a restaurant, facing workplace discrimination and carrying that heavy sense of dependency.
The romance itself was sweet, though not as developed as I would have hoped. I really liked how Harry accepted Luna exactly as she was, but I couldn’t help feeling Luna needed to accept herself before fully committing to a relationship. Still, their dynamic was soft and cute.
What really stood out to me though were two unexpected things...First, Wendy and Luna’s friendship. Their bond felt unconditional and genuine and I loved seeing Luna relax and be her true self with Wendy. It wasn’t a central plot of the story, but it was wholesome.
The second was the exploration of Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder. When Luna talked about being misunderstood as “lazy,” I felt that in my bones. (I am writing this at 3 AM, so maybe that’s why it struck me so much.)
(TMI time: I have struggled with insomnia myself. For me, sleeping 4-5 hours a night feels like a victory. I related to the irritability, the avoidance of new people and that frustration when others think it’s as simple as “just switch off the lights and go to bed” or “go for a run and you’ll crash after.” It doesn’t work like that and the show captured that feeling of being left out or unseen. End TMI.)
Overall, while the drama isn’t flawless, I genuinely enjoyed watching it. The vibes were soft and calming, even with the weightier themes. As a first GL drama experience, it was a good one and it even left me curious about a few topics.
