You asked how the country folks would view gay men, and I thought of an interview with the director of "God's…
Yes, as always, you’re so spot on in your thinking. All the above I’ve watched and adored and obviously this is the reason why - written by gay men, for gay men, which makes for excellent, mesmerising viewing.
I surprised myself, I found myself really enjoying this drama in a crazy sort of way. This really isn't something I'd usually watch. In fact, I'd go as far as saying it's one of the best Chinese dramas of this trope that I've enjoyed. Finally a drama where the evil protagonists had to take responsibility for their evil wrongdoings, atone for their actions and were actually punished. Hurrah, I say. Usually in Chinese dramas they simply apologise and all is forgiven which pisses me off massively.
I really liked how ruthless and vile Gu Yi was in the beginning- seriously angry, bipolar and narcissistic, which I felt his character portrayed well. However, the switch to a constantly pining, crying, lovesick puppy, I found jarring and not at all believable.
Luo Zheng is a truly beautiful man. Damn, that chiselled square jawline had me mesmerised. However, why did the make-up team choose to make him vampire white - that was just weird and so off putting throughout. He Rui Xian, again, absolutely stunning - beautiful eyes and lips and finally we get a Chinese female lead who isn't stupid, whiny or needy!

Oh yes! In the beginning he was just like the farm animals he tended and in their first sex scene, blimey, so damn raw and memorable! Just beautiful. I wonder sometimes, years down the line, if BL dramas will ever reach this level of real, beautiful writing and storytelling.
EP 3 & 4 are just all kinds of cute / fluffy and actually quite hilarious in parts. Looking forward to next week when it seems Suh Ye Chan's jealousy will unleash itself.
As usual, we agree 100%. I really enjoyed the first eps because the sexual tension was palpable. I know a lot…
What a travesty to be true Maggi. All that sexual tension, jealousy and angst from the opening episodes, ruined after episode 6. Oh, I too loved that excellent line, made the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention.
I desperately hoped for a real kiss due to the sexual tension, but to be honest, I wasn't holding out much hope. First and foremost, Zuho is an idol, and his music career, I imagine, is the priority. Those damn Netizens aren't going to be happy about their idol hooking up with someone - fictional or not, gay or straight. I also think the management team has a lot to do with this, in terms of where they see the direction they want their idols career to go in.
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! The South Korean curse of the final two episodes. What did I just watch? That was just utterly dreadful. This drama is the reason why idols shouldn't do BLs if they're not prepared to kiss or show any kind of intimacy. Stick to your day job and stay away from BLs, because you just come across as wanting to cash in on a lucrative genre. It's a 3\10 for me and up to episode 5, it was at least an 8.5\10
Author of novel must be ticked. Sounds like book did it better.
You're right on the whole Pat, Put, Jeng narrative. Just makes no sense. Pat was literally hyperventilating whenever he saw Put and that whole crocheted shark thing literally tipped me over the edge. Made no sense. Then again, the whole storytelling makes no logical sense.

Agree. I massively appreciate the book is a mammoth 3 volumes on all accounts and it takes something like 1,700 pages for Jeng and Pat to get together. However, as one commentator rightly pointed out below, they’ve given us absolutely nothing with our leads. Eg. Pat and Put kissing and Pat just stops and stares into space in the flashback - couldn’t they have shown Jeng’s face? The cuddle with Jeng - could he have stroked the tears away, or even patted his head? Allegedly, in the book, Pat pines for Jeng when they’re apart and never dated Put!! Why oh why I ask of this writer and director?
Lovely start. Stunning scenery. Nice, quirky dynamic between our two leads, one being an excitable puppy the other staunch and serious. Really looking forward to watching Sun Yeol melt not only for Suh Ye Chan, but also the delightful villagers. It's giving me serious "When The Camellia Blooms" vibes, especially Suh Ye Chan's character, who so reminds me of Hwang Yong Shik.

It's a 9 from me.

Oh well, onto the next as they say!
Looking forward to next week.
