Eddy's direct, to the point, possessive character has been written beautifully, which hugely compliments Ian's, inner shyness that his one sided love for an eternity actually loves him in return. Some of the script lines for Eddy have been delightful too: "Do you want to try again?" "Well, do you just kiss people for fun?" "You're driving me crazy?" Really nice. It makes for lovely chemistry and honesty between our leads.
I think they're very aware they desperately want to make up for 7-years of lost time through cowardice and literally no communication on Ian's part. And, they delivered some lovely kisses - something All the Liquors could learn.
Up until the final 2 episodes, I was really enjoying this drama, it would have been an 8/10 for me, maybe even a 9. However, in typical South Korean stylie, (let’s just cash in on the BL genre, and not commit to showing a realistic gay relationship), we get our shit fish kisses with zero passion or commitment.
The let’s eat ramen narrative around having sex, turns into yet another fish kiss. What is it with South Korea not being able to realistically showcase the intimacy between gay men? They can’t even show two men lying in bed kissing! Hey, I’d even settle for seeing some rolling around in trousers and some gentle kisses on a bare chest, but not this childish, unrealistic nonsense.
It’s Individual Circumstances, Oh! My Assistant, The Director Who Buys Me Dinner and Cherry Blossoms After Winter all over again. Grrr! Grows some balls already!!
It’s a 5/10 for me. I liked the drunken storyline - felt fresh and believable. Our leads had great chemistry with lovable quirks, acted really well and the secondary characters also did a great job.
At last we're moving forward. I suppose the secret needed to be revealed and for us to have our episode of angst, betrayal, mistrust and heartbreak, which I think was delivered really well - I felt their pain. At least it happened in episode five and not episode 9. Just really hoping they don't drag out their separation until the final episode and leave us with 10 minutes of lovely moments, after all, it has taken them 10-years to utter three simple words to each other!
Gosh, what was this episode? Agree with the majority of comments, 80% of this episode was boring, stupid filling, with side characters apart from Party I couldn't give a toss about. Grandma is seriously cool - adore her screen time with her friends kicking back and getting stoned. The last 5-minutes were the best and also seeing how both our leads seriously have each other backs and best interests always at heart. Delightful. However, it really does need to move on now with the love story.
This is good - very good. Jo Tae Hyun's quirky, cheeky, naughty personality and the lines the writer has him delivering, reminds me very much of Jang Jae Young's character in Semantic Error. Oh wait a minute, the Director is the same Director from Semantic Error - now that's a tad lazy me thinks, considering it's literally the same storyline. However, I'm here for it - I adore a quirky, naughty, intelligent leads hitting on a submissive who obviously fancies him too - ticks all my boxes and makes for interesting, mature viewing.
I enjoyed the first episode. Like the chemistry and at least they can act. Hallelujah! Although I found Jo Tae Hyun immensely annoying and provocative, I didn't find his actions to be bullying. I found it naughty, playful teasing from a man whose out to get the attention of the man he likes, but he's too damn childish to do it in an adult way.
I get the feeling from the title and preview of next episode that it will be Jo Tae Hyun, crying on Lee Da Yeol's shoulder by the end of the series. Looking forward to today's episode.
I find this series a breath of fresh air and heartwarming to watch, especially this latest episode. I can feel the sexual tension between them. They really do have amazing chemistry. It is such a cleverly written, gentle drama. Love it.
I agree completely, especially with Ritsu. He knew about Ritsu's reputation from his club member. I know he might've…
So agree with your comments. Nice to see another commentator also understanding Ritsu’s character. Really looking forward to the final 2-episodes having full focus on Masumi and Ritsu, closing the chapter on the past and moving forward together in their ‘final’ days.
This remains a delightfully quirky series for me, staying true to the Japanese culture for innovative storytelling. However, I totally agree with the majority of comments on here, by way of the second leads taking up far too much screen time from our main leads. Yes, I get they’re intrinsic to the story, but not to the point where their narrative dominates so many episodes. I’m just not that interested in them, I’m here for Masumi and Ritsu’s story, as I expect most of us are.
I also really like Ritsu as a character and feel he has been massively misunderstood on here. From the outset he was an unashamed player and was very open and honest about the fact he loves to fuck around. Fact. Some people are simply highly sexed and hence enjoy sex with multiple partners and often. Nothing wrong with that in my book. Masumi knew this about him, but still went there. His error was in believing he could change him. To me, if you feel you need to change someone, you should have never gone there in the first place.
I’m really enjoying this drama so far; and I really hope it’s not going to turn out like Individual Circumstances, Oh! My Assistant, The Director who Buys Me Dinner, The New Employee, Tinted with You and To My Star: S2. All absolute failures in my eyes for varying reasons, but mostly due to the dire storytelling and unrealistic development of the love stories in latter episodes and serious lack of chemistry between leads, topped with an almost homophobic attitude to true gay culture and lifestyle by way of any forms of intimacy.
However, there’s something about this one. I love the way Park Ki Hoon secretly smiles at Ji Yu - he’s already smitten and I can see the same for Ji Yu. I just really hope the writer is committed to the growth and development of this relationship in latter episodes and please don't give us awful fish kisses and no intimacy amongst grown arse adult males.
I'm not seeing anyone on MDL calling that rape. They aint even done anything. He just passed out on the table.…
I totally agree with your comments. I’m also a food and drink writer and can see Ji Yu’s love for food and drink. After all, the two really do make for a marriage made in heaven and especially when paired correctly, which forms part of Ji Yu’s job.
I’ve also spent a month on a gastronomic food tour of South Korea, and damn can they drink and that’s coming from someone who lives in the UK, as the world knows, we Brits love to drink! 🤣
