With a protagonist who just gives up too easily complains and doesnt even try hard enough, frankly he deserves to get divorced by his wife anyway, who can blame her with a husband this lame and passive.
You'd think a 40+ year old would know better and not give up, but his personality is too annoying.

Eh great idea but just veeeeery slow.
I recommend people to just watch the movies Back To The Future I-III and It's A Wonderful Life or read Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", similiar great plotlines about timetravel + life regrets , but with MASTERFUL EXECUTIONS.

....THIS mediocre drama is nothing comapred to those masterpeices!!
Trust me on this, you'll greatly enjoy those while severly BORED by this one.

This is maybe just for those who havent watched/read much on timetravel genre or not watched/read the works mentioned above, for those this might seem new & fresh....but THIS DRAMA is literary NOTHING NEW on the genre and just PLAIN BORING MEDIOCRE waste of space.

DROPPED. I'm just gonna rewatch BackToTheFuture instead.

" Jin Kang Ho is an enthusiastic and effective detective. He tries to catch criminals by any means necessary.…
Wow the main character in this crime drama is rich? That is indeed refreshing!
While in other genres rich lead/chaebol is super cliche and boring, in this genre it's indeed something else altogether!
Interesting I think I will actually watch this one now. :D

I love this show so much. First time watching Nam Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun here. The story is heartbreaking but…
I know right?? Why the hell is this 6 point anything, Deserves a 9!!!!!?!

I think these people giving low rating just hate sad dramas & dont actually rate it based on the quality of the drama tsk tsk
What's with that one negative review above?? Only 5/10??? WTF.
I also watched this on a small tablet screen yet enjoyed and yes it was touching. The user must severly lack empathy to claim it wasn't touching at all.

If people let that negative review stop them from watching this, please dont! please just ignore it! Was a great film, thoughtprovoking and yes touching.

9/10 from me.

The movie was AMAZING but could anyone tell me where was there a slight romance???
Maybe someone interpeted the relationship between the 2 assistant guardians as romantic? I dont even know lol. That's the only justification I can think of for that tag, but frankly she lookes more lile a cute sister to him if even that lol theyre were just focused on the trials. Maybe because he carried her around at one point so someone added that ridiciolus tag lol

all the people shitting on this must not know what "makjang" is.
Even some of the reviewers are like "it's okay, for a makjang" or "Since it's a makjang it can't be that good, only when remembering that it's a makjang do I get less irritated by it so it's then ok" or "I like it because of the cast but it's a mkjang so story isn't that good" etc.

I'm sorry should I also go and write reviews and comments on comedy kdramas, saying how they cant be good because it's comedy that I dont like in general???

People who comment badly on projects IN GENRES THEY DON'T EVEN LIKE, Should realize that's it's just their own subjective taste and not to do with if a drama is actually good or bad.
People: "WHERE IS MY COMEDYYYYYYY THIS IS TOOO DRAMATIC" on makjang/melo drama comment sections.

It's like ordering pizza then getting angry when getting pizza and not hamburger that they prefer.

So if I interpret it correctly, The King did not lose money for Studio Dragon and Kim Eun Sook, because they were…
Indeed Netflix Kdramas will likely be different in the future,
BUT honestly I feel like youre being too much a drama queen when saying that
" means that the international crowd will NEVER get to know the uniqueness of the Korean entertainment industry (such as makjangs) nor get to know typical Korean actors  ",
you're FORGETTING ONE THING!!:

While I agree that the HIGH-budget kdramas in the future with Netflix's influence will be too westernized and lose its heart,

there's still those FULLY ASIAN dramas that Netflix has had NO SAY in, aka. the already aired dramas they keep buying the STREAMING RIGHTS to and NOT PRODUCING.

So unless they stop purchasing THESE, then ifans still very much get too see the not-westernized dramas.

When it comes to the fully american-profuced Netflix shows of the future, there's a pararell to be drawn to TURKISH SERIES & Netflix influence on them:

Netlix have now started doing westernized own Turkish dramas. Theyre not fully westernized yet still has Turkish producers and crew but theyve also inserted some american writers who write alongside the turkish screenwriters and american consultants who clearly have a say too.
The result is they've unfortunately KILLED OFF the MAIN HEART of what makes the fully Turkish series great, the new shows are still ok and sometimes pretty good still, but
THE STRENGTH & HEART of Turkish series is CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT as well as a MAKJANG QUALITY.
This proper development no longer exists in Netflix's Turkish series.

The issue mainly has to to with the LENGTH of the new Netflix Turk series. Original turkish series length tend to be about 100 episodes (sometimes 200, sometimes 50), which is ALOT in comparison to just 6 or 8 episodes on Netflix, even when they have their multiple seasons, the series QUALITY suffers.
Rather than realistic slowburn romances which is a hallmark of turkish series, the new series rush things and make it all so UNNATURAL.

It's not possible to fit 100 eps of relationship development into just a Few in a natural way!!

American tv series standard also is like:
Season starts - MIDSEASON CLIFFHANGER - Season's last part CLIFFHANGER - Then a BREAK until next season.
Applying this to turkish series:
these FORCED cliffhangers DON'T WORK....These cliffhangers which DONT happen in the fully Turkish series since you dont have seasons w. short episode count, the cliffhangers may happen ANY TIME, so it's NATURAL.
From "Wow wuch a beliavable slownburn development" to "WTF makes no sense" - a huge downgrade I'd say!

For example:
So far theyve only produced 2 own turkish series.
The first one The Protector is doing well internationally and still continues, BUT
they tried to force a very unnatural romance to viewers, which only made most people develop serious 2nd lead syndrome for ML & the 2nd lead girl instead, which ironically had the old turk series more slowburn development, since theyve only begun making them into a romance later on now and not right away since season 1.
At the end of season 2 there were huge backlashes on the lead couple and many losing interest, so SUDDENLY they KILLED OFF the FL and made the 2ndFL the new FL and love interest, just like people hoped!
They even had the new FL fanfavorite be the one to kill off the FL(not in coldblood, oldFL was possessed by an evil person), the ML was mad at her for like 1 ep only & then next ep is so in love with the new FL LMAO.
So the new couple got great slower development but lmao the transition from old to new love was really unnatural, likly due to the shorten season making it a limited time to make season end w. the fanfavorite couple.

Also the Turk series heart of having well developed famiky relationships...also GONE. Theyve killed off the parents of ML & newFL, and I barely even rember that they had parents. So different from original Turk series family development.

The 2nd Turkish series The Gift they produced was already an improvement imo from the first though.
The intense majkang level melodrama that is usually part of turkish series, was GONE from the westernized TheProtector, but then suddenly the 2nd series TheGift had SOME of it added into its overall mood.
Theyd at least retuned SOME of the heart this time.
What Netflix never learned however is they still do hot sex scenes (Which OG Turk series DONT have, muslim country after all), which is extremely weird to see on turkish series lmao.
The issue of only 6 episode season turk series remains. They really should make 20 ep seasons at least to return the natural relationship and character development and not force cliffhangers.

Right now there's still only 2 netflix produced Turkish series, and they mostly just buy the streaming rights to fully Turkish produced series.

I hope this is also Kdrama's Netflix future: rarely making own high budget Kdramas, then mostly just buyng streaming rights.

Now korean dramas don't have this same issue of lengthy dramas being made too short with forced cliffhanger timings which doesnt translate well, since Kdramas are already pretty short.
BUT similarly, Netflix influnce will likely indeed take away at least SOME of its heart, and maybe the new netflix k drams can still be okay to good like netflix turk series, but it's just not as good as the originals.
Now THIS does worry me,
I really hope that Netflix stops PRODUCING and influencing series/dramas and ONLY buys the streaming rights to series and which the original countries then have FULL creative control over.

Also about MAKJANGS:
They're not as unique as you think. Thai Lakorns, Latino telenovelas, american soap operas and Turkies series (called "dizi"s) are all similar but with each culture's own take on the dramatic melo genre.
Actually alot of the latino audience of telenovelas have begun abandoning telenovelas in favor of Turkish dizi. These days, after american series, Turkish series actually have the 2nd highest export rate to other countries!
You know Turk. ent. is rising when even Northern Europe have now begun buying turkish series to air on Tv and stream on Netflix, something which NEVER happened just a couple of years ago! There was literary NO AWARENESS of turkish series in some places not long ago, and now Americans (and notjust their latino friends) have started to buy into turkish ent.
Other parts of Europe Turkish ent has been huge for years and only growing.

With such a rise of Turkish Dizis, there's a HUGE AUDIENCE that could potentially be drawn to the similar (yet not similar) korean Makjangs. (Just like Telenovela lovers got obsessed with Turkish Dizi).

So unless Netflix suddenly decises they wont buy streaming rights to makjangs (why would they?? With Turkies ent rising, Makjangs will likely rise too in the future), there's still will be makjangs in Netflix.

The kisses in this drama though. So real that it made me wonder if the leads have something real between them lol.
Especially since it's thai drama, which usually tend to have even worse kissing (or none at all) than kdrama.

Wow ep3 really changed things and easily upsets the viewer, I can see why they chose to put the break after ep3, it's a gamechanger episode that makes the anticipation stronger for next eps.

I personally don't mind waiting a bit for the next eps after ep3, the wait I feel gives stronger impact on episodes rather than being able to see what happens next right away.

Also I love how the episodes are stand-alone episodes, yet connected in interesting and surprising ways.

Dramacool is always buffering whenever I want to watch this (on the laptop and iPad) is it just me? Kissasian…
All streaming sites are more troublesome & slower than usual, MDL much more buggier too.
Probably because of Corona too many people streaming/browsing/too much traffic.

7 episodes aired and already 16 reviews???!!?

Sorry but NOONE has any business giving reviews to a drama until all eps aired & watched,
that is why the COMMENTS SECTION exists folks!

I really wish MDL would limit reviewing to those who actually watched most of the drama sigh

the poster looks like the fiery priest poster. lol.
I suspect it's the SAME graphic designer behind both posters lol

Both dramas from SBS too so might share some behind the scenes workers

or they've purposefully hired the same freelancer again to create similar promotion that will attract similar target audience as Fiery Priest because both dramas same vibes gives an easy way to also pull in the huge Fiery Priest audience

aka. theyre trying to ride on the huge success of Fiery Priest.
...Looking at the also high ratings for this drama, I'd say their strategy was smart.

*FYI my professional opinion as I work in similar field

Its not the first time watching Im soo jung. Watched her in chicago typewriter. I dont know but i kinda bored…
I really recommend you to watch her older drama I'mSorryILoveYou, it's her best work! Well written too. It's by the Chocolate writer.

KiYoung & her didnt work together yes , both too calm. (Plus he's character written as so 1 dimensional).
She worked much better w. JiSub in ISILY, she's better matched with more intense & emotional actors.
Two calm people together is indeed just plain boring....

does anyone else find it strange that there are random new members asking how to watch dramas on MDL recently.…
Possibly it's because this show is on Netflix (&is very popular there), and so attracting a new wave of asian drama first timers without a clue of things??
