Just finished this drama.
WTF. Eps 1-6 were just so boring....but then suddenly the last 2 episodes we're amazing 10/10!

I'd say this drama is worth watching mostly just for the last two episodes alone. It's a shame how a potentially great drama delivered only (&delivered so well!!) only at the very end! Also, hearing of the main actor's passing is just too sad....I'm realizing this was the last drama he ever did & he did it so well.RIP

Yes I think so too, even the lyrics of some of the OSTs seems to be hinting at a future timeloop....

So what the hell is wrong with MDL?? Other places aren't this hateful, it's JUST MDL lol....even places with some very bad seeds and bitter people normally have been so surpisingly kind to this drama in comparison to here....

I don't know why the toxic people all camp here but oh well someone seems to be jealous over the EXTREME worldwide Netflix love this GREAT drama is getting....

This type is style is actually very typical of COMEDY dramas.
Maybe you wanted/expected more of a crime drama with a serious tone?

Probably crime COMEDY genre isnt your thing, please dont take it out on the drama &
maybe check out the more serious crime/thriller dramas from OCN channel instead?

To the people critizing KGE character as annoying & too much against Lee Gon:

Would YOU right away believe a guy saying he's from a pararell world, especially when in their first meeting he said "I finally meet you!" "I've been waiting 25 years for you" and "I have your photo" then hugs you, seeming like a creepy stalker type????
So just because he's goodlooking she's supposed to believe him????? You want her to be the easy, desperate type woman???


She's a clever, rational detective who'd look at the evidence (or lack of) objectively first and not believe things that sound like fairytales, especially when Lee Gon acted they way he did when they first met.

....Just what kind of LOUSY irrational detective would she be, if she'd believe a crazy-seeming guy without proof LOL
Frankly, had she been written that way I'd have NO respect for her character!

Also rather than filing a Constraining order, that a woman in her situation could easily do, she's actually not doing that and even looking after his horse, even whilst believing him to be a crazy stalkery type!

Now if she's still is contary when later she gets proof, that's a differdnt matter, but for now, she'd be stupid and very annoying to take his side.

Her character writing so far has actually been good, a clever, RATIONAL, strong woman, not the the easy woman who falls at his feet right away type lol

I'm someone who doesnt usually like LMH, he's actually okay here imo (Allthough still wish better acting from him).

....When you really cannot comprehend the fact that someone can have a DIFFERENT opinion than you or of that of the majority....you just jump to conlusion that they MUST be joking??

I wasnt joking actually. Even when saying that her writing has improved since Goblin. To me, Goblin is the most overrated drama of all time, gave it 6.5 rating (only this high because I absolutely adore the Grimreaper&Sunny couple),
The King's first eps is 8.0 to me, that is better than 6.5.

Don't misunderstand me (again),
The King isn't perfect at all, but good & might get really good when plot develops.

My critisms with drama so far is :
- LMH acting
- They sometimes give too similar vibe to Goblin yes, should establish more of different vibe
- LMH character too quickly likes KGE character, now already even asking her to marry him WTF
-Sloppy directing & editing, clumsy transitions from different times & the two worlds (but FAR from the "confusing mess" that people think this drama is.
I'm someone who's watched alot of timetravel &AU stories from different countries, this type of storytelling is the NORM actually, only confusing to people who hate complex plot or people too dumb)
-Took too long to develop worldbuilding (but then again, in the LONG run, this could turn out to be a good thing, they actually include alot of the fantasy & develop it more properly *I'm looking at you, Goblin!*)
-They havent really shown Luna yet
-LeeGon too easily WITHOUT BEING SHOCKED, entered the pararrell world

But overall, it's 8.0 for me so far.
The 9 rating too high yes, but FAR from bad. Can easily go to 10, IF they execute plot well later.

Of course, this is just the first 2 eps, so if the plot of the whole drama later gets develop badly, then I can change my mind and call it bad.
But so far, so good.

EXACTLY!! Unfortunately a large portion of drama watcher's these days are the silly romcom audience type, who can only handle happy endings and not too much intensity,, sadness, depth or complex plots. For this reason ALONE, melodramas automatically get lower rating. I personally LOVE dramatic sad works, my fave genre.

....but ottokkee too many people LACK TASTE beyond simple silly romcoms! SIGH

*I would've prefered though to see Woo Do Hwan as lead, he's literary the best actor in his age group!

It literary isn't hard at all to digest.
I've noticed though from watching dramas for over half a decade now that the general drama watching audience tends to be very dumb lol, so the "I love my simple romcoms with only happy endings" people (which is majority of drama audience let's be honest) are simply too idiotic to comprehend a more complex plot.

I. CANNOT. WITH. YOU. PEOPLE.

Summary of people's negative comments:
-Plot is boring
-Main couple has no chemistry
-Female lead character is annoying
-The story is all over the place
-The 2nd lead male shouldve been cast as main lead
-Great visuals cover up the fact that plot is bad
-Corny dialogues
-Droppable drama

Funny, these are ALL my SAME critisisms, but NOT for this drama, but for GOBLIN.


Unlike Goblin, where the lead pair literary had NO chemistry, I'm actually enjoying the leads together here, and plot is actually much better executed in first 2 eps than the whole of Goblin. Goblin was "dropping" material.
The female lead is actually a strong likable female here, unlike the annoying and childish beyond words Euntak.

You people are so ridiculous, praising Goblin like it's the best thing that ever happened, then now when KES has actually improved her writing NOW you shout the criticisms!!!

Agreed with the list EXCEPT:
Kill Me Heal Me, Secret,
Secret Garden and You're Beautiful are actually VERY GOOD & not overrated at all.

My opinion though.

Maybe this is why I'm, unlike most complainers, actually liking King: Eternal Monarch so far.
People comparing it with Goblin, expecting it to be "as good" lol.
Imo, so far it's so much better.
Especially the female lead is intriguing & not annoying, NOT CHILDISH like in Goblin, & main leads not off putting together.

Not only NO CHEMISTRY, but MOST of drama focuses on the snorefest main pair, and not enough on the promised fantasy, & the 2nd pair with actual chemistry have barely any screentime.
Not to mention female lead character is very annoying too....

Goblin = Glofiried cliched Romcom with boring & annoying lead characters disguised with pretty cinematography and supposed unique fantasy plot.

I only finished it for sunny&grim reaper, otherwise wouldve dropped!

No it's clear enough and like you said just FIRST WEEK. Of course they cannot give away all mysteries yet lol

Too many people are simply idiots who can't follow complex storytelling, it seems they need a very simple story to understand anything sigh

The commenter above is not using logic and is biased (&totally overthinking that the writer is hating on Christians & Christian beliefs). See my post about how including death, darkness, devil in works is just some writer's tool of deepening writing.
