Positives. Great, solid female friendship, where the females aren't competing or being catty to each other. Likable cast. Being able to resonate with the idea, of wanting to be seen as people "remembered us" and scared of disappointing them with a "new us." That's something that personally touches me. It was hilarious too, especially when Hye Jin thought she'd lost a front tooth!

Really, kiki, really? You want to engage in a battle of wills? :D Anyways, thanks I appreciate that we all have different taste. If you say I have bad taste, because I hate stalker dudes, then I'll just kick myself until I do :P I mean, what is wrong with me!!!!!

I think you might get less flak if you changed the sentence about cutting one's hair forcibly and used the word…
I might as well say, that last week, a couple of people jumped me, and they cut all my hair off, and it was like a "gang rape." What? I can't use that comparison? Are you offended? But whhhhyyyy.... It's just my opinion based on the life experiences I've had! Doesn't matter what you've experienced or went through. Now Back off!

With that logic, I'm done.
Last comment from me, I promise.

Well that's an important subject to bring up! I do think each and every topic you brought up deserve an article…
"I'd definitely feel raped."

Sorry for getting straight to the point but If you have been violated in this extremely personal and disgusting way, then I recant my previous argument. Clearly we have different barometers. It's just...the use of your terminology is all wrong and so many people use it casually - they need to be called out on it. Time and time again. Until the point gets across. Using the word "rape" to say it's similar to another assault (or is the same) is NOT OKAY.

There are many different words in the English Language, use them. Violation. Degradation. Humiliation. Which might also fall under the "rape" category, but rape is the physical act of penetration of the vagina, anus or mouth of another person without their consent, which is not the same "thing" as being held down, or having your hair cut off. And I think six or seven people are disagreeing with you here, about this point alone. Surely you must think about why we're ALL kicking up a fuss? It's not because we're doing it for light-heartedness sake. It's because we're genuinely concerned about your way of thinking and want to get to root of why you're using words like "rape" so flippantly. (Because you ARE belittling rape victims everytime you do so.)

On the grand scheme of things, yes rape is worse than getting your hair cut off. Do you not agree? This is my issue. You put it on a level playing field, which you shouldn't have done from the beginning.

Are you telling me that a woman with short hair or is bald has no femininity or strength? (Tell that to a chemo patient.) Let's go one step further, and say a woman with no breasts? Please volunteer in a rape crisis center. Put forward this question to them. I'm sure they'll give you the answer you are seeking (although you may not like it.) You've written such a brilliant article, all about spotting signs of abuse, but I'm staggered you don't know the difference between getting your hair cut off with force and rape.

@Ceki91....if it is not "real rape" then don't use the word "rape"
Period.
(And no, cutting someone's hair doesn't come close to it. No matter how long the girl takes to grow her hair. Who told you or taught you this? They need a stern word.)

I'm not familiar with non-korean dramas, but I'm really disturbed by the wrist grab, and the forceful kisses.…
Yes, I agree. The only thing Ceki91 misjudged in the article, is comparing a forcible haircut to rape. Bad call in my opinion. Rape is in a different ballpark of it's own, and is not something to be used for comparison sake lightly.

This is a very important article. Some people don't even realize this about dramas. The only thing I feel like…
"Males and females tend to slap each other around equally in dramas, and most of the time it's pretty excusable to me." Someday you'll reread that statement and cringe. Or if you don't, then there's no words.
Ceki Sep 8, 2015
However, I do think there is something critical about showing someone about to do something heinous, but pulling back for whatever reason. Or, they go ahead and do it anyway. Because it's only when things like happen, you know the true depth a character can go and most characters go through life, without really ever being tested. But these acts shouldn't be romanticized.
Ceki Sep 8, 2015
Brilliant article. Best I've read in ages. Wrist-grabs are awful to witness, unless you're being pulled from the path of a oncoming car and need saving. If I wanted to go in a particular direction, I'd walk, not stand there secretly hoping "someone will come along, and drag me." And either the victim mindlessly follows, or pulls and resists, I don't know which is worse. Mindlessly follows = complete submission to the aggressor. Pulls and resists = whatever, I'm still forcing you into submission. I'm actually worried some people think things like that are ok.

I've been checking on this drama consistently to see if it improves (I found the 1st episode bad, but was told it was amazing...). And now I'm kinda sad, because I was hoping I'd be proven wrong and the later episodes were off the charts crazy good...but I guess sometimes when you know, you know? Glad I didn't waste time more than an hour on this show, but I'm still sad. Still hoping this is some huge success, because I would like to be pleasantly surprised for once...

I'm sorry to hear you're far from liking Hwang Jung Eum as an actress. She's the only I would consider as consistent, (as in I liked her in 5+ dramas) - I've yet to find another korean actress to fit this criteria. But I hope you give it a try! I'm not a big fan, of focusing on "looks" either, but I hope there's more depth than the description implies.

Alex, you're beginning to get on my tits. Sometimes you have valid points, but then you descend into troll-ish behaviour. To make yourself more endearing, update your dramalist (will save your poor fingers from ctrl c + ctrl v), stop reviewing dramas before they've finished airing (and try to give ranging marks, instead of extremes all the time), and stop making attacks on actors that are personal. You will flourish then, and maybe I might look forward to encountering you in these boards, and engage you in small talk! As of now, I will take my own advice, and steer clear. Good luck!

I've yet to complete a single Joo Won drama. Maybe one day! He's a good actor. Has improved from his King of Baking days. Still think we haven't seen his peak.

I'm planning to watch Tree with Deep Roots. I'll let you know how it goes. Acting skills is subjective to the person who watches another. I've seen Jang Hyuk in two dramas, Successful story of a bright girl and this, and there was nothing that mortally offended me in both. In future, I recommend you steer clear of actors you don't like. That's all.

I'm struggling. From ep 4 onwards, it seems every person is undercover, so it just removes all the tension and suspense for me. I want to like it so, so bad....at ep 10 now, gonna drop it.

The first episode was weak, save for Kim Tae Hee, but I hope it gets better. I rely on plot, so when the camera…
I accept your deferring POV. For me, the biggest crime was those scenes were heavy-handed in forcing down our throats the lead is awesome, but before I got to know the character properly, or start to care for him (and just because he's played by Joo Won, doesn't automatically make him awesome XP) I want to make my mind up for myself, not be engineered or manipulated into thinking it. That's what I revolt against most.

BUT...I do think Joo Won is a decent enough actor, and the plot can only improve, right? I'm looking forward to the next few episodes. They will be crucial.
