To be frank none of Donghua actually are 100% adaptation of their webnovels. But DD's donghua, is really good to watch, and it closely follows the novel.

Xiao San and Xiao Wu are "not" any of these: full-blooded, half-blooded, step, adopted, or foster sibling .
They are "sworn" siblings. That is a different thing altogether.
Sworn siblings are those which do not share any blood relation, and swear loyalty to one another. So, all those taboos you said don't apply here. This is quite common not only in the past and today as well. It is not just a form addressing one another in etiquette here in DD, although it is quite common in Jianghu . He called her "meimei", that is just sister, not a sign of respect, quite customary, although we know that Xiao Wu was not just any meimei,
As you already said, they were just best friends from childhood, but they become closer as brother and sister. The last episode was indeed good. But I really hoped that they could wrap up the story of Chu Ying, after all apart from MC Shi Guang, the other most important character was Chu Ying- his dear master, at least show that he is in Southern Liang or wherever he is returned or somewhat like he changes history, and then he is no longer anonymous, like when Shi Guang opens up that game record book, he would see that Chu Ying was a player. That was what I expected the most, but Chu Ying did not even speak at all and just gave a fan. At least they would have given him a few lines.
Maybe I am too demanding. Other than that, I liked the drama from beginning to end

White ring ( 10 yrs <= ctv < 100 yrs)
Yellow ring ( 100yrs<=ctv<1000 yrs)
Purple ring( 1000yrs<=ctv<10,000yrs)
Black ring(10,000 yrs<=ctv<100,000 yrs)
Red ring(100,000 yrs)
A beast with ctv>=200,000 yrs gives usually an orange spirit ring or a red spirit ring with gold marks , the number of gold marks/bands is equal to the integral multiple of 100,000 which equals to ctv( or in simple terms. no of gold marks=[ ctv/ 10^5] where [.] is the greatest integer.
Finally a soul beast with ctv>= 1 million yrs , gives usually a golden ring or another color ascertaining to its nature.
For special beasts, there can be exceptions they can even give unique coloured spirit rings, For eg. 3-eyed Spirit Lion gives even with ctv<100,000 yrs gives a Rose-Gold colour ring.
God spirit rings can be different colours and there is nothing fixed, the color primarily depends on the ability and the nature of the God. For eg. Ring of Death of Huo Yuhao was Dark Grey in color, ring of Rakshasa God was Dark Purple, Tang San's Sea God ring is of Ice-Blue colour. Don't bother with god spirit rings for now. If our "drama's" Tang San is fortunate, maybe he gets it!! Who knows what is going to happen in drama ?

An important point to note is 20,000 yrs from now, at the time of Tang Wulin(son of Tang San), one can upgrade the color of one's ring to at most the red ring( with 9 golden bands in Spirit Pagoda. To which level a soul master could upgrade his/her ring depended on primarily on spiritual strength. Yes, some maybe curious as to why can Tang San bear the higher rings than other cultivators his age, firstly his willpower is exceedingly strong, second is his rising spiritual power which is due to the consistent practice of Purple Demon Eye, thirdly that his soul power is more condensed than soul masters at his level due to practice of Mysterious Heaven Skill cultivation technique( it is the cultivation technique for increasing soul power which is extremely efficient) and the last reason is his being a Twin Martial Soul Master, people with Twin Martial Souls even at the same rank or level have a higher soul power (this is unique specialty, that is why twin martial souls are quite praised).
When a soul master ascends to the level of God ( >= Rank 100) , all his/her spirit rings upgrade by one level mostly, less than black become black, black becomes red, and red becomes golden.The golden or the god ring develops a color of its own too.

I took this opportunity to give a basic explanation for people who aren't familiar with the world of Douluo Dalu. "This is no spoiler for all this would never be mentioned in the drama at all at any point"

Yeah, it is really different from chess, no similarity b/w them except the black and white which also not a real similarity as there is "One-Color Go" too. Everything else is different including the board too except that both are strategy or tactical games. Even those who have never played but have watched Hikaru No Go know this. If you haven't watched Hikaru No Go, check it out, it is a really good drama.
Go is called Wéiqí in Chinese , "qí " is translated in English as chess.
When Japanese players promoted it internationally, they called it いご which is roughly pronounced as I Go . So, for simple pronunciation, it was decided to be named as Go and since then it is the official English name.
Personally, I don't like when people call it Chinese Chess, as it is wrong, because Chinese Chess is something else, it is " Xiàngqí" which is also called Elephant Chess , which actually resembles International Chess a lot.

That scene in the middle of Ep 21 was so cringy yet funny, when b/w Xiao Zhan's song, they started playing beating rhythm!! Lol and wth was an Arabic like tune playing in background when they entered Xi Si City, looked more like Arabian nights. So dumb. Hahaha!!

Great! The drama was absolutely good to watch. It was a pleasure to watch from beginning to end. It ignites competitive spirit. I never thought the adaptation of a manga could be even that good. Some instances were so funny, and full of friendship and perseverance.

In the whole Douluo Dalu series, there is really slow romance. It is not that it is not there. But extremely slow and in the beginning it is almost absent, only in the middle does it develop to the peak that also is more of a stationary point rather than a maxima

Isn't the season 2 on the second novel Unrivalled Tang Sect or will it be the continuation of this first novel? I don't know about it. If it is on second novel, or the third one of Tang San's son Wulin, then the cast will surely change. If anyone knows the ending of this season 1, please tell me, I have already read the book series as well as anime, I really want to know where it stretches to, I am not VIP, still waiting for Eng subs from Ep 20 onwards

Same, I also want fight scenes with all the tactical skills of Tang San as well as the full use of Tang Sect Techniques, like Mysterious Jade Hands, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Steps, Purple Demon Eye etc. , I have never seen him use any serious techniques still like Hidden Weapon Hundred Separation in drama, they are really cool!!. I am starting to like the drama a bit too now , but what I am also thirsting for good fight scenes too. Let's wait for the Continental Wide Soul Master Competition. There will be fights one after another then if they haven't removed all that from the drama script.

Yeah, I missed Zhao Wuji too. He was an integral part of Shrek in its early years especially an important teacher of Seven Shrek Monsters. I waited in the episode when Tang San entered Shrek, for Tang Hao, I thought he would beat up Zhao Wuji, that would be real fun. Too bad, that was just an empty wish.

Yeah, I think that you maybe are used to the fake voice he had in Untamed or other dramas. If you have ever heard him singing( he sings great!! ) or speaking you would have known that in this drama, it his real voice, just that it is dubbed. Dubbing is quite common is cdramas by the way, they are really few which aren't dubbed.

But if he told everything then there wouldn't have been any surprise element. Plus, he is quite busy too, every day releasing 2 chapters of Douluo Dalu 4. Xuanyu going to become a Super God level soon. But his writings have somewhat become paler now, too draggy.

Yeah, I forgot that he picked Xiao Zhan himself, got a lot on my mind. But didn't know before about his involvement in the script till someone else wrote a comment about it sometime ago and that he had an interview today.
