Dude, real culprit never take their own life instead they push others to loose life. Did seungri,Tae il, Ji soo…
Actually yes they do... Unfortunately, It's the coward's way and very likely in south Korea.
Actor Jo Min Ki committed suicide a couple of years ago due to accusation of sexual misconducts with his female students. There was never any justice done because he didn't even last a month after the accusations came out.
No justice for the victims.
You could argue that's the minority. Maybe. Still at the end of the day, I think we all agree we want justice for the victims and that is impossible if you push the culprit to the brink.
This being said, the list of victims you mentioned is unfortunately a reflection of South Korea's overall misoginy and public pressure. These are public figures who had to face public backlash on top of what they were going through... But what they went through... is unfortunately very common in this country. Koreans complain about social pressure and yet they're the first to inflict it on their fellow countrymen.
So apparently there're pictures that are even more intimate but even the family doesn't want these pictures to be released publicly. Given all that's been revealed, I hope this guy gets cancelled permanently.
After all:
Ji Soo: Bullying scandal. It was revealed later that basically poor dude was framed though he admitted it at first in order to not burden his co-stars and crew for the drama he was filming at the time. In spite of the other parties making a public statement saying they lied, he is still cancelled to this day and had to relocate to the Phillipines. Well, just glad he didn't commit suicide.
Park Hye Soo: Bullying scandal. Again, framed for nothing. She always denied the allegations and Dispatch revealed it was completely false... Has yet to make a come back to the industry.
Yoo Ah In: Drug scandal. Became addicted due to treatment against his depression. Took some "extra" illegally. Got sent to prison. Still cancelled to this day.
etc.
...
And we have a groomer and pedophile who is trending here and apparently part of South Korea is divided on the subject... when there's many proofs including non-released explicit photos that the family themselves don't want to come out.
I don't partake in online bullying。 And I don't care for the private life of actors... If you are a cheater, well, morally wrong sure, but not to the point of being cancelled。 If you're an asshole but a good actor, why should I care? But when it comes to rapists, pedophiles or murderers that's were I think "not caring" has its limits. Hopefully, once everything dies down, he gets properly cancelled for life. And I mean by that any future work. What he has already done is done. You can't deny the quality of his work, and there's no point in cancelling work from a whole crew and cast for the act of a single person. If you feel uncomfortable watching him again that's ok, it's a matter of personal choice. There's no need to worry for him, he's filthy rich, probably got investments here and there, he's not going to have any issues financially speaking. He'll get back on his feet eventually maybe with a less lavish lifestyle.
This being said, what he did might not be condemned by the law ( I'm not really sure what is the age of consent in SK) but the relationship itself and the pressure he and his agency put on this poor girl is utterly despicable and disgusting. Maybe not condemnable by the law, but still not acceptable. But it's done.
Information has to come out but the bullying? Not a fan.
Just like Kim Sae Ron was bullied online, there's no point in bullying this actor either. If he ends up taking his own life because of it... You'll have turned a "culprit" into a "victim" and once that's done, who will remember the first victim of the story?
Lol I think nobody gives a fudge about the mystery part. We're here for the highschool shenanigans...But it sure…
I think they're going to make that reveal at the very end... hopefully with a very public kiss from Hae Song to his 'teacher' just to make sure Yu Jeong cringes to infinity. Wouldn't be fun otherwise.
I'm sorry I'm shocked at Q's hygiene in this drama:
1. Urinates standing up. Disgusting. You're gonna put droplets of your "liquid" all over the toilet seat. JUST NO.
2. Cutting your nails... at a table full of food. Seriously who does that? One of your nail can fly over in one of the plate. Just plain disgusting. Also there's a time and place for that type of thing. Either the bathroom, outside or at least sitting on the floor to avoid your disgusting nails ending up where it shouldn't be.
Who the hell wrote that script? Does this person has ANY hygiene? How come nobody said ANYTHING?
So turns out Kim Soo Hyun is a disgusting piece of filth... ... But I still want to watch this drama so sorry. Gonna watch it. He already got his paycheck anyway. Rest of the cast and crew is not responsible for his pedo bottom.
So... Almost 2 years since I watched my last GMMTV BL drama...
I had forgotten their shameless PPL. Gotta to say, it made my day when I saw the Choco Pie PPL. GMMTV, as always, is shining with its "subtle" product placements.
Is this drama good?
No
Is it bad?
... It's what it is... Very GMMTV, very mid.
This channel does have some really good dramas but the majority is like this one: Not good, not terrible, just mediocre.
Well I like Ohm and I was in a mood for some romantic BL so I gave that one a chance. 4 episodes in and the romance feels honestly pretty forced. Ohm is wonderful as usual but my God does he needs to branch out. His talent is wasted here.
For Leng apparently it's his first lead role.... Well it SHOWS. That's where I have a problem. His performance is just weak. Whenever he's supposed to be angry, he's got the same face but there's a difference between being angry because you're worried, being angry at a stranger etc... Honestly there was a scene in which he's supposed to argue with Min, and I was thinking " My God, that face is not being angry, this is the face of somebody who hate the other party". You can see he's making an effort, but it's awkward and overacted.
Now it is his fault?
Obviously not. He's just starting...
But do we really need to pair somebody who is so lacking in acting experience next to Ohm who's got literally almost 10 years of experience under his belt? GMMTV you're doing your actor a huge disservice. No matter how hard he's gonna try, the contrast is just jarring.
Either pair him with somebody who is just starting like him or who is way less experienced... And make him act in dramas that are lighter for starters or give him more side roles before making him a lead.
Well that was their last BL pair drama together so there's that. Dunno the reason. Don't care for the BL fanwars or whatever. I wish him the best.
For Ohm though... Apparently you don't have a good fit for BLs in GMMTV and you've acted in plenty of straight projects. You're too good to rot here. Bright, who I personally think is not as good as you, got out once his contract finished... Be wise and do the same thing. That's probably the best you can do for your carreer... And if it doesn't work, you can still come back. Singto did it. You have a strong enough fanbase to risk it.
Well, still gonna finish this one for Ohm. The episodes are pretty short and I don't want to watch something too intense so that will do for now.
AH Forgot!
Eating Fried chicken and pizza with sick people. Great idea.
Lol I think nobody gives a fudge about the mystery part. We're here for the highschool shenanigans...But it sure…
She does... But probably only because she doesn't know the ML is over 30. There's no "love triangle" because Hae Song knows how old he is and is basically looking at all these high schoolers as kids - as he should.
Chairwoman's daughter going to end with the other former model jerk of the student's council who is obnoxious but very obviously in love with her.
Oh thank you for the explanation ^^ Didn't have to bother looking it up.Side Note: I once asked a Korean teacher…
Wow that's pretty impressive ^^ Well I'm self-teaching myself 4 languages and it's already quite a hassle so I'm sticking to these four and that's it namely Korean, Japanese, Thai, Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
For Thai... That's a bit of a tough question...
Objectively the difficulty of a language depends more on how "far" the language you're learning is from your mother tongue.
Thai has a rather complicated alphabet system with high consonants, middle consonants and low consonants + a certain number of vowels. Depending on whether there are accents, no accents and to which category the consonants belong ( depending on the category of the consonants one type of accent doesn't have the same effect), the tone used is different and compared to Chinese, vowels can be long and short... Depending on the length of the word sometimes a long syllable actually has to be pronounced short and so on.
So the first hurdle is: Pronounciation nightmare.
Second: All words are stuck together. Now Japanese and Chinese are the same... Everything is stuck BUT in Japanese you have grammatical words written in hiraganas to separate them and Chinese usually has words in one or two syllables. I've been studying the latter for almost 4 years now, and I've yet to encounter a word that's longer than 2 syllables, so it's pretty easy to distinguish words...
In thai, there's close to no punctuation. No coma no nothing. All words are stuck together but the issue is it is a pretty "simple language"... There's not that many words... Words are made by sticking existing words together... so it often means that basically you instinctively have to know if you read these words in one block or two... and the order can be switched.
I would have given you examples but it's getting late and I'm STRUGGLING with the thai keyboard. That's another annoying thing. 4 years of learning, and this hellish keyboard is still giving me headaches. Oh ok just one then: Let's say you have a random sentence I won't type and you come across this:
Blabla หน้าที่ Blabla Do you read: 1 "หน้าที่" Naaatiii ==> Duty Blabla or do you read 2 "หน้า ที่" Naaa Tiii ==> Head/Face that Blabla
Sometimes even if you encounter A = B+C+D+E and you start to read A as one word... you can get to the end and realize that the context tells you it's actually BC +DE or B +CD +E or BCD+E Well you get the drift.
Of course native speakers don't have that issue... but since you're learning new words at the same time... obviously you're going to have "fun".
What's really confusing in Thai is that Adjective can be Verbs/Adverbs/Name/counters even auxiliaries.
For instance, if you look up the word คอย you're going to find that it means "to wait" BUT คอย + Verb = to be doing. Well multiply that for anything. And since there's no tense in thai they're quite important. And the issue is that due to lack of good free resources online... You often have to understand how the grammar works on your own.
Thai love to have words which have the same meaning stuck together. Often it means one is acting as a verb, the other as an adverb or an adjective of sorts. And that's were lies the biggest issue.
The way thai works... is a bit confusing for native western languages speakers... but that would be too long to explain here. Subjects are a bit confusing as well but not as much as all the points I've mentionned above.
I don't think Thai is a difficult language apart from its nightmarish alphabet and it's very challenging pronounciation. But if you're like me, not filthy rich, no teacher and learning solely on your own... It's extremelly complicated to find Good sources online to learn it that doesn't cost too much.
I occasionally watch his videos to get some explanations for when it's available. He is very thorough in his explanations but I'm not much of a grammar person. I'm the type that learns the basics of grammar, spends years practicing by watching, and reading and only bothers to dive deeply into it when I start to express myself... which I've only started to do with Korean and Japanese ( respectively 7+ and 6+ years of practice).
I also prefer written explanations over videos online. Biggest problem for free sources... is that they're all pretty bad. They're done by Thai people who speak English but most of them are struggling to explain the intricacies of their language to English speakers because English is a very complicated language for them with nuances that just don't exist in their languages. How can you explain how to say something that just don't exist in your language or doesn't have any equivalent in your language when you're struggling with English yourself? (That said, I'm talking about free sources online not proper trained Thai teachers)
The channel I gave you is different... I think he has some pdf you can buy that aren't that expensive but I've got no money right now so that's a pass for me.
Anyway, be sure to tell me if you decide to give it a try. Gotta sleep now >_<
PS: Thanks for the recommendation. I'll try to find the movie online ^^
Seriously this racist islamophobic troll had been stalking this thread for several days WHY DO PEOPLE ANSWER THEIR POSTS? Only a pea-brain idiot would believe this individual is Muslim.
Just report their damn post!! By engaging with this lunatic who is creating accounts after accounts to spread hate, you're literally giving them what they want...
Err sorry simple question. I don't follow gossips or BL ships or whatever. I only care about dramas. I was checking out this page because I remember having seen a trailer for an upcoming BL with that other actor in Kidnap (which I've just started). I understand their ship is dead in the water but... err...
Does anyone know if Ohm has other dramas expected for this year...? I don't care about BLs, I just want to know if he's going to act, after all, most of his roles so far have been non-BLs ( there's a fair number I want to watch) so it's not like his carreer is reduced to just that so how come there's nothing listed?
The mystery part is a bit of a let down but I love the chemistry between the leads
Lol I think nobody gives a fudge about the mystery part. We're here for the highschool shenanigans...But it sure is going to take a backsit for the last 4 episodes. They've got to wrap up that storyline properly... If they'd made it into a 16 episodes series, we would have have some more fun with Hae Song and his ridiculous side quests (these dance moves🤣🤣🤣) and my favorite side couple in the history of all K-dramas... but alas... It's 12 episodes... so 4 mostly serious episodes incomming sadly.
I just skip her scene - so far none of her scenes contributed to the overall storyline
I guess she adds a sense of "urgency, danger and stakes" to the gold search... It counterbalances the comedic tone, I just feel they're a bit heavy-handed on the creepiness. It doesn't remove my enjoyment of the show... but I've got to admit I almost skipped her scenes as well.
Oh thank you for the explanation ^^ Didn't have to bother looking it up.Side Note: I once asked a Korean teacher…
Wow thank you for the long reply, that was really interesting ^^
1. I didn't have the font so I used google image to see how it looked like. I was expecting something much more complicated but it looked pretty simple... Nothing like the nightmare of the Thai alphabet. Honestly the Spanish could have made some efforts into learning it.
2. I'm guessing for the vowels sounds you're doing like in many languages. Combine vowels to transcribe different vowel sounds?
3. I had to look up the terms "code-mixing" and "code-switching" because I didn't know them.
The code-switching seems like a huge headache to me, but certainly a very good mental exercise on a daily basis... If I understood clearly the definition that's switching between Filipino and Philippines English in conversation... I'm not mentionning regional dialect since they're regional.
Code-mixing though sounds pretty natural to me and I think that's definitely something you'd find in all former colonies. My own parents always talk to me using what we call "Francalche" a mix of "Français" - French and "Malgache" - Malagasy/Gasy.
A sentence like this: " Let me tusok-tusok the fishball. " is literally what I grew up hearing on a daily basis, though younger malagasy people tend to use way more malasy than French in their sentence due to France leaving and the educational system going down the drain. I'd give you some examples if I could... but I only understand the language orally I can't read nor write it.
I don't really know a lot about all the differences between all these versions of English to be honest. Most of my teachers when I was young have been taught British English, but in practice I use more American English. It's interesting you're mentionning that Phillipines English is recognized as another official form of English...
I don't think we "recognize" anything in "La Francophonie" ( that's what we call all countries which have French as an official language, most of them former colonies). They obviously all have some regional specificities but I'm not really sure France officiallizes anything. Switzerland and Belgium also have French as an official language, but honestly even if there's some differences, they don't get any specific names.
I found your first two examples pretty funny ... in the sense that it's crazy how languages evolve. English, although considered a germanic language has 29% of its words made out of French and 29% made from latin based word ( French being latin based) . Simple words such as "to enjoy" actually came from French:
To enjoy = from the french word "enjoyer" ( no longer used) which literally means to be "in joy" - "en joie" "Joie" being the modern way of writting "Joy" in ancient French. Pronounciation Jo-a. Occasionally you might hear "enjailler" as a slang term to say "to enjoy"... Nobody really knows if it came from a deformation of the English "to enjoy" or if from the verb "jaillir"... I also heard it came from Congolese French...
"Color" and "Colour" actually came from the old French "Colour/Color" initially from the latin "Color"... these days we use "Couleur" in French ( "ou" is 우 and the "eu" sound sounds like the เอิอ in thai... Both ways of writing are indeed pretty much valid from a historical standpoint...
"Centre" is the original writting of "Center". Again a French word. But I guess pretty difficult for an English tongue so the pronounciation probably has evolved to become "Center". Seems to me British-English sticks to the roots, American-English sticks to the pronounciation... And now you're telling me Fillipinos give both these spelling different use 🤣🤣🤣
All your talk about switching languages and the differences in use of subjects... Pretty complicated and confusing for somebody who intends to learn your languages... But I can't help thinking that's a definite advantage when you're trying to learn another language because your brains are just used to all that "mental gymnastics" so to speak.
I'll have to try another time a Fillipino drama one of these days... You've got me intrigued :D
Anyway thanks again for your explanations, that was truly insightful 😎
The chairwoman is become creepier every episodes. She's such a psycho, I'm having trouble with her scenes... They feel so... HEAVY. Hopefully ep 8 was just to show us how crazy she is.... and we don't have see her as much from now on.
Preview for ep 9 says you're right. If you watch it, apparently he didn't say something to Hae Song because of…
Last month I was following 3 airing K-dramas (all on the weekends ) I could barely keep up. Found the whole process tiring so I've decided now... only 1 airing k drama IF I'm interested. 2 episodes a week is quite a lot when you start to pile them up and I just don't have enough time.

Hopefully ep 8 was just to show us how crazy she is.... and we don't have see her as much from now on.
