I think somebody mentioned that it basically covers the whole webtoon so the end is probably faithful to the original material.
Can't blame Minase though, he's got a mother that is pressuring him and he works in a traditional company... If his homosexuality gets known, what are going to be repercussions in his life? On the other side, Hirukawa is basically a free spirit, he works with artists who are traditionally pretty open minded especially when you know he's directed movies with gay characters, he's got no father and his mum is literally out of his life.
For Hirukawa, having met and be loved by Minase is already a miracle in itself so even if they don't get married, I don't think he's that sad about it, as long as Minase stays with him... And it's also nice to see that Minase seems to be the one who is most scared of Hirukawa leaving him. It gives some balance to that relationship.

Sorry I rest my case. To be fair everything was beautifully filmed, the little touch, e-ve-ry-thing was PER-FECT... EXCEPT for the kisses.
They suck. I wasn't even hoping "When the Phone Rings" level but the bare minimum wasn't met. My Beautiful Man had descent kisses. Not the best but descent at least. They're barely touching there and they're always choosing an angle so that we can't see they don't touch but they're so far apart anyway that even that trick doesn't work.
Such a pity because the filming, the touches particularly anything involving the hands... Every little moment was packed with intimacy... I was SO immersed... Gah.

Japan has a problem with those. It's a cultural thing. Having sex is considered less intimate than the act of kissing which I think explains why so many kiss scenes suck in their dramas.

But as mentionned. The show would be perfect if it wasn't for that so that a 9.5 from me... and also because I want MORE and it's too short.

EDIT: Btw I'm including the kisses in the extra as well. Still not good. Slightly better to give the illusion of "passionate" but nope.

EDIT 2: Okay. I give up. It's a 10. It's a 10. The kisses suck and it's TOO SHORT but it's a 10 anyway. I love this drama too much to give it less. Fudge it.

I think this is the worst comment section I've seen in like forever. Haters are having a field day with it.
This being said, I'm no longer planning on watching it. Some issues raised by some viewers just don't sit well with me. But I have this morbid curiosity of coming back to this comment section just to see how toxic it can get.

Got bypassed by Check in Hanyang last Sunday, gotta say, even I was shocked.. Not saying Check in Hanyang is bad, it's a flawed but entertaining show in its own right... it's just that it doesn't have the same star power nor the over-the-top budget of this drama so it stings a bit... Such a huge flop is going to have consequences over which drama to finance in the future... We might not get another big budget one in a while.... That is the real tragedy of this flop. When The Legend aired in 2007, it was also a flop... and it took up to 2019 and Alchemy of Soul for another Korean channel to take the risk of investing big money in a fantasy drama...

Alas, this... This is gonna cost for every scriptwriters and directors in the country... They're gonna play it safe in the future... to the detriment of viewers... Of course Netflix and Disney + pay big bucks for K-dramas with big budgets BUT the caveat is that they're addicted to creating franchise and multi-seasons series which I personally HATE. So well... We'll see how things goes...

Il était bien content de recevoir les droits d'auteur pour la diffusion de cette série en Corée du Sud et dans tous les autres pays d'Asie. Il s'en est mis plein les poche, donc le vrai responsable de la fraude , c'est l'auteur à la base qui a accepté de signer et de prêter son nom au drama.
Après non ton commentaire, ne suscite pas grand chose en moi, si ce n'est un grand soupir. Je vais pas te forcer à aimer un acteur que t'aime pas , pas que ça à foutre. M'enfin bon, pour cracher sur les gens, faut peut être de bonnes raisons au lieu du "je l'aime pas parce que je l'aime pas et donc tout ce qu'il fait c'est de la merde, j'ai raison et vous avez tord".

Si tu l'aimes pas tu l'aimes pas, mais cherche pas à rationaliser la chose en trouvant des raisons bidons pour enfoncer le bonhomme. Ta détestation est complètement irrationnelle. T'aimes pas son jeu d'acteur ok, mais le reste c'est du grand n'importe quoi de gros rageux. Assume.

Regarding City Hunter, I rest my case. You're basically hating for hating sake. Your complaint, which I don't agree with in the first place, should be directed to the writers and directors and not to the actor who is doing his job. You might say you didn't like his acting, but you can't complain about the portrayal given he just did what was asked of him.

I don't like to throw that word lightly because it's overused... But you're basically a hater. Your hate is misguided. You're basically using anything you can find and pin it on Lee Min Ho, no matter how irrational you sound, just because you hate him.

Basically just like the Lee Min Ho fan mob is completely delulu and will always shower him with praise whatever he does no matter how shitty his dramas are, you're always going to try to find any bogus reason to drive this actor's name through the mud.

Now, I'm not a fan of his, so I won't bother arguing further... and even if I was I wouldn't. Your opinion has no value to me, just like my opinion should have no value to you.

I personally will NEVER understand how people can have so much pent-up anger and hate or love and adoration towards people who are basically just doing a very public job. That would be different, if they had some political power and their decisions would impact your life, but NOPE. It's just entertainment, all that useless personal hate is puzzling to me.

The actors don't know you, they don't care about you apart from your appreciation of their work. If you don't like their performance, you don't but making it personal like this is pretty sick in my opinion.

I kept coming back to see some positive comments but Pro-Life agenda is the final nail in the coffin for me. That is a big NOPE.

But I don't see how this is related to his performance in City Hunter. The only thing that this drama has in common with the original manga is its title. Everything including his personality has nothing to do with the manga... and that's not his fault, that's the choice the scriptwriters made ( and personally I'm glad they did because I sure am not a fan of all sexist and vulgar jokes the original manga is littered with).

Why are you blaming Lee Min Ho for playing a role the way it was scripted? If you didn't like this version of City Hunter, you should blame it on the writers and directors not the main actor.

THEY made the decision to change Ryo Saeba aka Lee Yoon Sung's personality in order to cater to the Korean market because this sure wouldn't have worked if they'd done it as the series was originally written.

I mean the whole story's different.

2024 has been such a bad year BL wise, but they were still some hidden gems... Glad I stumbled upon that one.

He's a decent actor. Does what is asked of him. He just has a tendency to pick the same role over and over again. I haven't watched Pachinko yet, but out of all the dramas he acted in, City Hunter was the only one I truly loved. I dropped all the others. Not because he was bad in it, but because the stories just weren't my cup of tea. BoF's success is still puzzling to me but whatever, people like what they like.

It's not because they love his shows and you don't that others are necessarily rabid fangirls...

And I'm not saying this as a fan, I LOATHE AND DESPISE the Lee Min Ho mob or any fan mob for that matter. Can't discuss with hard core fans, they're a joke.

Now I haven't started this show... and I still wonder if I will since Gong Hyo Jin and Lee Min Ho tend to pick projects I dislike, so I'm on the fence on that one... and though I tend to not take too seriously comments or ratings of a show before starting it, the overwhelming number of negative comments here make the negative opinions hard to ignore.

This being said, most negative comments here haven't talked about his acting but how his character is a jerk and the story has issues.
You may not like his acting, but most people have no problem with it, just the story. You're basically hating for hating's sake, blaming this drama bombing on a single actor.

I've got a VPN as well but you still need a paid account to have unlimited access. Most Viu shows are available on Viki anyway... Using a VPN in Europe to access content in Asia is only useful for websites such as iQiyi. So far this show is still not listed on Viki... Still crossing my fingers though, they have a tendency to add shows at the last minute on this website.

Nope Channel A. It's advertised like this because it's probably going to only be available on the OTT Viu in Asia... We still don't know where it's gonna be available for European audience...

At this point it makes no sense plot-wise. They're dragging it on purpose.

Ok finally finished episode 10... My mind kept wandering elsewhere because I couldn't bear the amount of time we spent with the villains. They were some very cute and funny scenes, with the Haona quartet of course, but they were too few in-between.

I don't think I would have finished this show if all episodes had aired... I feared the tropey plot would lead to tropey angst by the end... a fault I found in literally EVERY sageuk/fusion-sageuk I ever watched from South Korea ( even Alchemy of Soul which is one of my favorite became too political and angsty by the end)... and unfortunately... this show didn't prove me wrong.

It's turning angsty and annoying, and the romance, which should have been the focus of this show is not taking the front sit when it should have, at least 4 episodes ago.

Episode 10 ends on a cliffhanger... I don't care about.. I sure hope Deok Su knows what she's doing... But since I'm more invested in Jun Hwa blundering his confession, Eun Ho being in denial all the while low-key seducing her consciously or not and Su Ra low-key making fun of them, that cliffhanger like over half episode 10 went over my head.

Will episode 11 be better? I... doubt it given what happened at the end of episode 10. Sad and sad.
I understand if some people drop this show by now. It's not terrible but honestly it's not that good either... Instead of building up on its strength namely the Inn shenanigans, the friendship between the characters and of course the budding romance with its love triangle and petty jealous moment, it kept on building momentum for the whole tragic backstory nobody cares about.

Will I finish this?
I will. 6 episodes left and 2 episodes a week. It's do-able... But I'm probably gonna cut futures episodes in halves, otherwise they're gonna feel reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally long.

Sigh...

Actually scratch my previous post. This is why one should never comment without mentioning which part they've reached in the drama...

Also, at this point I'm suspecting the Minister of Defense is just playing stupid and has been playing everyone making them believe they were in control.

EDIT: No I don't know nothing... EXCEPT that I want my light hearted drama back! I want my Haona Quartet and my SANAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Deok Su and not all that plotting and backstabbing and whatever.
