Personally I consider them both on the "meh level", they're not unwatchable, you can even enjoy their performance depending on which role they act... ( this being said among ALL Korean lead actresses of the same age range, I consider both of them in the bottom tier) BUT, I've seen way way WAY worse... including the actress I won't name who is also listed in this cast so...

I think it's not a matter of who is first or second but rather when she was entered on the cast list on MDL.
Recently Check in Hanyang had actress Kim Min Jung listed as a 'guest' role when she actually is a support role and one of, if not the most important support role in the series... When it was finally changed, she ended up at the bottom of the list of support roles when she should actually be on the main page given how important she is plot-wise and also in terms of screen time. You have to see the full cast in order to see her listed.

This being said... Time will probably tell but it's very likely Kim Hyun Joo still has more importance in the cast given her background and prominence。 Just like in 'The Devil Judge' when Ji sung and Park Jin Young were listed as leads, you could tell in the drama that Ji Sung was the star of the show. Kim Yoo Jung is big, but she's not yet playing on the same level as Kim Hyun Joo so to speak.

But time will tell I guess.

Too late. It has already been hinted. It's not gonna ruin the series but I also wish they stopped that trend... but since they've been doing for over 20 years... Probably not.

No that's cool. It's just that I thought maybe I missed it somewhere but basically everybody noticed, but since you liked the show you just shrugged and said "Whatever" ^^ That's cool, I also do that with shows I like 🤣

True the only drama I finished with her was Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol and that was only because it was one of the few dramas I could find online with Korean subtitles at the time since I'm learning the language ( just checked and rated it a 3... but honestly not her fault, the drama started well and didn't go downhill, it just dropped off a cliff at some point).

I wouldn't say 'pretty privilege' these days though. Pretty privileges can get you some roles but if you don't deliver you won't get roles at some point... I have 2 actresses in mind that used to get main roles who I thought had completely disappeared from K Tv given how bad they were but SURPRISE one of them is listed in this cast (another reason to avoid this show in my opinion)

BUT there's always one or two exceptions to the rule and sadly I personally consider Go Ah Ra is one of those. Seems like a fun and colorful story, but I've given her enough chances since she started her career so that's a skip. To be fair, some roles fits her to a T, but others just don't. If you're a skilled actor you know how to ACT whichever role you're given... which is unfortunately not her case. She's ok ( not great) on happy-go-lucky roles, she does poorly whenever things turn dramatic.

Not gonna complain though... There's just too many dramas on my mental to be watched list, so that's one less on I'll feel the need to watch.

EDIT: Well just watched the trailer out of curiosity. They sure know how to sell it 🤣
Well doesn't change what I say... except that it feels that it's one of these roles she usually fits in. Still on the fence on this one, but I'm intrigued enough ( cough*six packs* cough) to give this show a try.

Ah ok. So I'm not the only one who noticed. Well. I didn't get really hanged up on that plot point but I couldn't help noticing it. I had a good time watching this but that was a one-watch for me. Didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else but again, I think people who watch such shows tend to mostly watch BLs and the bar is usually set lower. Most GMMTV shows tend to be average-good so compared to what they usually offer this was definitely a cut above the rest...

Same here.... I stopped because of the amount of politics involved. Made a comment about it and then the usual 'opinion police' came with lots of lots of comments regarding the fact that I and other people who had made the same type of comments should get out of there as if we should all see this show as absolutely perfect(not talking about the people below who are are polite and respectful of other people's opinions).

I still find it enjoyable so I've picked it back up. Now finishing episode 13, but it's definitely a slow watch for me. I can't binge it, so I think I'm just gonna watch it as a "red thread" in between other shows.

Ah ok. I didn't get it was a joke. To be fair, traditional African tribes had no issue with women being topless until colonists came and introduced their western/christian views over what should be shown and what should not. Before a body was just a body and that was it.

I agree with the double standard comment but this being said, it's so deeply ingrained in the way we perceive bodies, no matter if you rationally see there's a difference in treatment, we're still gonna do it.

However, these are serious subject... And I don't need my 6 packs to enjoy a drama but I sure do appreciate when they're on my screen.

So... I thought he had recognized her from the poster but nope. When (I'm sure) he realized she was a girl at the end of episode 4, I thought he had connected the dots with the poster... but plot wise it also didn't make sense.

Turns out it he probably unconsciously recognized the girl from the poster but didn't consciously realize she was the one.

Or I'm an idiot and as people have mentioned he's recognized she's a girl from day one at the inn when he saw the key. I just don't believe he still doesn't know. It's Joseon, he's in classic denial phase regarding his feelings but there has been NO identity crisis and that would have never (not) happened if he didn't know she was a girl.

Jun Hwa's dad turns out to be quite the villain. I wasn't thinking too much about him apart from him being a shrewd business but he actually doesn't care about people at all... Poor Jun Hwa.... I hope his father's pressure doesn't push him on the dark path.

On a lighter note, episode 9 promises some jealousy hijinks and I can't wait ^^. I also think based on the preview that Sura and Jun Hwa are going to realize Eun Ho also knows she's a girl. She's the only clueless one who's not aware that her cover has been completely blown up.

Not really... It's the classic fan service you get in every romance drama, there's always some useless (-ly necessary ^^) shirtless scenes with at least the ML. This drama just happens to have a better pretext for showing MORE bare-chested leads.

MY GOD! What happened to the ratings? I haven't watched episode 2 yet but wow, that's one hell of a drop in what? Less than 24 hours? I thought episode 1 was pretty good with a very nice atmosphere in spite of how serious the story was so far so what the hell?

Well I don't care for ratings unless the show has ended at least 6 months before so that's cool but err. WTF?

EDIT: Ok. I saw another comment mentioning some individuals, who are clearly bored and slightly deranged, rated episodes not yet aired. The usual. Poor 'Check in Hanyang' suffered the same fate and has not yet recovered.

Hopefully this 'trend' is gonna make people understand that ratings on this website should never be taken seriously unless it falls under 7. It's just an indication.

I'm more curious about what exactly is going on in these people's heads. Do they think it's gonna have ANY effect on people? The more I see these fake accounts with fake ratings, the less I care about ratings and just ask directly in comment sections what people thought instead of looking at ratings that have no value. Complete waste of time.

EDIT: I don't rate shows I haven't finished nor which episodes I haven't all seen... So I don't engage in ratings wars. Don't see the point. That also includes the long list of shows I dropped because I thought they suck. Since I didn't give these shows a chance to redeem themselves in later episodes, I don't rate them.

I personally think he didn't know at the river, he probably had doubts but it got confirmed after he saw the poster + Deok Su dressed as a girl...
It would be great if that was made clear next week so we can get some lovey dovey moments before everything goes to sh** because you bet they're gonna turn up the drama for the last 4 episodes.

Alas yes... I've got 15 mn left in episode 8 and I've already spoiled myself the preview.... which is all very happy go lucky but no doubt something is going to happen to the gambling house as soon as it is launched given Myeon Ho's snickering.

40mn into episode 8 and is the drama really hinting at Jun Hwa's dad AND Eun Ho's dad plotting TOGETHER to put Eun Ho's dad on the throne? None of them deserve to be where they are. The sick prince should be the crown prince period...

But then maybe they're gonna reveal the sick prince stole the sword who knows?

I get you but I think it lies more with South Korean society as a whole.
Whey they revealed Su Hyeon was just the aunt and not the mother I was disapointed. I think South Korea has an issue with single moms. I've seen dramas with singles mums getting with single dads, singles dads getting with single women but NEVER a single mum getting with a single man.

Also, the thing is, even if you're 'just divorced' without children, you're already considered 'damaged goods' by Korean standards and it's extremely difficult to get married again especially if you're a woman UNLESS the person you're marrying is also a childless divorced person.

I wasn't shocked by the mother's comment at all, this is South Korea, the fact that her daughter is raising the child instead of the grandmother means that Su Hyeon has literally doomed her marriage prospect. She would have preferred to raise her grandson, it wouldn't have been bad for him, but her daughter insisted on taking him in and she probably blames herself for it. It's sad but that's South Korea.

I don't think the drama is mean spiritted. It's just reflecting South Korean society. There's prejudices and it's shown not in order to send a message, simply to reflect what is happening。 Viewers can make their own opinion about what is normal or not, what is fair or unfair, what should change or not.

Anyway, I don't think this drama is trying to challenge anything, it's just a rom com' intended for you to relax and presents a romanticized view of how single parents handle raising a kid on their own.

It's sad you don't like it, but we all have different tastes(though I agree the fudging childhood connection HAS TO GO, sick and tired of it). I just disagreed with most of your comment.

So got bullied by the Lee Min Ho and Gong Hyo Jin's mob for a comment I made before the drama aired, basically I've got not taste and no right to express my opinion. The usual.. Comment was pretty neutral, no hate on the leads, just that both tend to pick projects I dislike but that I would give this show a chance because the premise is interesting.
Blocked something around 7 or so people at the time. Fan mobs are the worst, as if bullying people is gonna make them change their mind ( by the way feel free to harass me below, I love blocking people, makes my time on MDL really pleasant since I blocked its most toxic members) .

Anyway fast forward to now, I come here to see what people think and basically, the whole comment sections has been flooded by people who dislike the show, it's almost impossible to find a balanced opinion. It's either all black or black, with a couple of "I like it" with no explanations.

My cynical self can't help but think of the toxic fan mob 😈😈😈 and rejoice a bit because I'm a human being and I'm petty even if I never wished for this drama to tank.
But my Drama lover self is sad to see positive comments becoming invisible through all that negativity.

I was hesitating to watch this but now, I won't bother until 2026, by that time this comment section will have been emptied and both voices will be audible hopefully without any fan mob in the mix, they're just insufferable. Most people watch dramas for their stories and don't give a f** about the actors in it, you don't rate a show based on the effort put it by the persons involved or how much you love this or that actor.

Only the end product matters.
