ngl i was hoping they'd keep her identity secret a little longer sighs
True I was surprised BUT it doesn't mean that SHE knows that THEY know. ^^ If SHE doesn't know that THEY know ( and we'll have confirmation this week) well... We're in for a lot of fun :D
you know what I am having a difficult time getting past.....Seol Mae Hwa character hasn't aged AT ALL in the 12…
That comment has already been made earlier... So I'm just going to quote myself:
"Honestly personal experience... your face doesn't change that much between the age of 25 and 40 if you don't overexpose yourself to the sun... I could even argue up to your 50s ( I'm not yet at that age so time will tell). That's not to say there's no sign of aging but honestly it really depends on the person. My mom started to get visible wrinkles only when she got in her mid-fifties. Before, honestly I wouldn't say she looked twenty but it was very difficult to pintpoint how old she was."
I also found the first two episodes funny and the cgi in the first few minutes was awesome. But Idk if it’s…
Hmm... I'm currently on episode 25 and personally I'm loving the show to the point of having decided to finish it on one go... Something I rarely do when I'm watching as many shows as I currently am ( 6 in total but I usually stick to a maximum of 4, in 4 different languages yet this my third chinese show on the list) . It's not particularly new and I find myself surprised by how much I'm enjoying it because in the xianxia genre... This is pretty standard plotwise... Shen Li is just a-ma-zing as a badass female and 'Xingyu' grows on you ( I'm calling him that since you're at episode 2)
However the CGIs are top tier throughout. There's heavy use of it even in the most random of scenes.
For the coloring/filter choice... I personally find it pretty logical. For the moment if you are at episode 2, they're in the human world and the colors are less saturated/more dull. By episode 6 or 7 (don't remember which), that's when Shen Li is back in the Demon world which colors are livelier than in the human world and the colors in the Immortals' world are even livelier so the choice is not a matter of which version you've taken, it's a deliberate choice by the director.
This being said, if you download, sometimes the coloring may vary from one version to another but if you stick to one version, you should not experience any discomfort (I'm watching it on Viki so I can't tell).
Anyway the bottom line: the show is GOR-GEOUS... It's not one of these cheap xianxia that has no budget. They've thrown in the budget in that one, so give this show a chance if for the moment the only thing that disturbs you is the way it looks. You're in for a treat past the "chicken introduction".
Episode 23 ==> Ok.... I thought it was weird that Mo Fang died off camera and now this... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I can't hate him. He must have a GOOD REASON to betray her. There's just no way in hell he's a bad person. I refuse to believe it.
SHOW I'm gonna trust you this time. EVERYTHING will make sense and you're going to show that Mo Fang was just misunderstood.
EDIT: Dear Mo Fang. I forgive you for everything. You're kind, it's normal to falter given your personal life story. At the end of the day, you've got your heart in the right place. I don't think you'll be alive by the end of this drama... So I'm already bracing myself. You're probably gonna die redemption style, leaving only tears and regret for those who knew you... But I dearly hope to see Xin Yun Lai in another xianxia as a lead. He's not you of course... But I'll take anything I can get. Mo Fang it's sad that Shen Li could never chose you: She can't love somebody who doesn't treat her as en equal. I get it, she's great. She's too great... So you put her on a pedestal hence she could never see you in another light. But Mo Fang, if I could teleport myself in this drama, I would have given you another ending... With ME.
I realky like Bae In Hyuk. But acting-wise he's outshone by the other leads so far. His crown prince could use…
I haven't seen any of his dramas so far but I'm enjoying his performance here. Jun Hwa is definitely more fun compared to literally everyone except 'Manly Deoksu' (I'm sorry I can't help but laugh every time Kim Ji Eun flexes her inexistant biceps)... But it comes more from the way he's written than performance-wise in my opinion.
I'm sure once our Prince starts romancing, we're going to see a lot of expressions on his part. It's gonna be fun ^^
Took me a while to get invested... The first 2 episodes were funny... Episode 3 to 6/7 felt like a repeat of the same... BUT past that (long) introduction with everybody back at their "rightful" places, the story definitely picks up. Now at episode 11 and I'm fully in 'binging mode'. Also I really have no idea what Xing Zhi is thinking but his antics are definitely funny ^^ But I prefer Mo Fang sorry. Mo Fang.... Forget Shen Li, MARRY ME!!!
" theres a lot of people on this site who can't handle criticism without taking it personal"So true. I've partially…
I know I get it... Got the same treatment on countless dramas as well. Most recent example that comes to mind is "The Judge from Hell". I ended up dropping that one. I also explained what was bothering me. Got ganged up on my a fan mob who can't hear diverging voices... I also got a flood of comments apparently from my comment on the upcoming "When the Stars Gossip". I wasn't talking about the drama that has not aired but some comments I made regarding both actors and one drama ( namely that both leads tend to choose projects I don't like but that I would give this drama a chance and that I tried to watch The King Eternal Monarch and dropped definitely on my 3rd try after 9 episodes - that was a side comment btw not the main point of said comment).
The first answer I got was really rude. So I blocked that person. Apparently I got a flood of answers that followed according to another user. I didn't deblock to check since I don't care BUT it didn't end up there. One more polite member started to politely bully me saying that she had read my profile, that I was like this, and that and that I didn't understand the drama that's why I didn't like it and that the fact that I gave 1 as a ratings for some dramas reflected my character, that she was working in the industry and that if I knew how much they worked I would never give 1 to any drama yada yada yada.
Anyway bottom line. I kept answering her and then realised... that I shouldn't and didn't care... BUT this member changed my attitude. I used to only block people who were rude. Now I also block the "polite bully" who are pestering you with 'politely passive agressive comments' to make you change your mind... which you're not gonna change obviously.
Anyway, at some point I deserted the website and deleted the account I had since 2016... But at the end of the day I like to keep lists of the things I watched so I ended up creating another one... I just do things differently now. Gotta teach yourself that we're all random nobodies and it's no use getting too emotional with random nobodies whose opinions have absolutely no consequences on your life.
(I checked and gave It's Okay not to be Okay btw... a 7.5. I watched when it aired... I didn't get the hype back then though I enjoyed it overall but again on the top ten 'Most Popular Show' list, the only two I truly fully enjoyed were Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo and W. The rest were 8 for the highest... Descendants from the Sun 3.5. Hotel Del Luna 4... and I was generous with both... I remember having shared my opinion back when both aired by the way... But MDL wasn't as toxic back then. I've got an account on MyAnimelist as well but I've completely given up on that one. People are way too aggressive)
Lovely Runner. Same thing reverse. I posted a comment not linked to any other got ganged up on by an anti-fan mob that had flooded the comment section, I hadn't even MENTIONNED anti-fans. They were just there for blood. This being said I had defended one viewer who didn't liked the series when it was airing, and that person got the same treatment back then.
It's moving one way or the other, it's never in the middle. Truly tiring but again. Good life lessons to emotional controls. I'm grateful for the "teaching experience", thanks to these "drama bullies", I've learned a lot about how not to waste time online, so at the end of the day, not everything has gone to waste.
Sorry for the long post. I'm gonna put a spoiler tag.
" theres a lot of people on this site who can't handle criticism without taking it personal"So true. I've partially…
I used to bother answering but now I no longer bother I just block. So far I've blocked 15 fairly active users and honestly that completely changed my MDL experience. Also I don't necessarily block people only when they've been aggressive to me... If they do that to another user, I know they're the type I don't want to engage with and I just block them. The only thing I can't avoid is people who create specific accounts just to annoy people. They're like mushrooms, block one comes another so I've just trained my eyes to automatically avoid their posts.
Anyway as I've mentioned to another member before, Internet has become an extension people's lives IRL. Would anybody insult somebody else in real life over DRAMAS or ACTORS? Even typing this is ridiculous, yet people do it online.
My motto is extend the same courtesy you observe IRL online, plain and simple. We can disagree and discuss in a constructive way to understand each other's points of view without necessarily feel the need to convince the other party. It's ok to think differently. People are always seeking validation from others hence the ridiculous arguments online which is never going to make anyone budge from one's position anyway.
This should be a place you relax after a long day of work and people are turning it into another battlefield. NO thank you. I've got enough of that IRL.
It's barely started and it's already a 7.7. it doesn't bode well
Glad you've decided to give it a try. Btw if you've looked at the latest comment episode 3 was a huge improvement compared to the first 2 episodes... and episode 4 was even better ending with a really good cliffhanger... I personally can't wait to see what's gonna happen next weekend ^^
" theres a lot of people on this site who can't handle criticism without taking it personal"So true. I've partially…
OH... Ok... Just noticed... Dunno why I typed that... It was clear in my head yet I wrote the wrong word several times. I'm gonna edit the posts. Thanks for pointing it out ^^
" theres a lot of people on this site who can't handle criticism without taking it personal"So true. I've partially…
Err Actually there's nothing funny. I guess you don't know how "blocking" works here. You can't block people from the website, you can only block them on a personal basis. If you block someone, you no longer see their comments online and any comments that is a direct response to said individuals. They're still free to spread their toxicity, you just no longer see them. If you block rude and disrespectful people along with people who have a tendency to argue over nothing, it removes quite a LOT of unpleasantness from MDL.
EDIT: Saeng has pointed out the fact that I wrote 'ban' instead of 'block' which might explain why you didn't get my post. I've editing both previous posts lol. Only excuse is I must have pretty distracted... Multi-tasking is a myth (also I'd written 'ban' on my personal page so that that probably stuck unconsciously in my head).
I haven't watched "Captivating the King" because of that yet. Out of ALL the gender-benders I've seen in my life,…
Oh yeah... Completely forgot that drama from my mind... True Jeon Sonee wasn't really convincing either... But from what I remember that drama wasn't that focused on the romance aspect... It was an ok drama but they didn't truly make use of the genderbender aspect from what I recall... That drama was also pretty disappointing for me...
Disclaimer: I have only seen 16 episodes of this, I have it on hold as I was literally falling asleep on every…
Currently on episode 17. When I started this series I didn't understand your comment but I've started to feel the "slowness" for the past 5/6 episodes. I'm still very much enjoying the whole mystery aspect of it but I do have to admit I wish they sped things up a little, some parts feel pretty draggy and not for the sake of storytelling... I just don't understand the director's choice.
Anyway, I've seen you've put that show on hold... I personally am just taking things slower. I don't like to watch too many shows at the same time but I ended up starting other shows on the side because I can't handle that slow pace for too many episodes in a row.
Once again, the ratings on this site are lower than they should be for this A+ drama. I'm upset that I must wait…
Personally I've definitely given up on MDL ratings altogether. I only care when a drama is rated below 6.5... which almost never happens. I saw ratings were already up even before the first episode had aired. Then people bailing out after 1 episode not even allowing the setup to be put in place. The backstory was needed, it took 2 episodes. This week's episodes were a huge improvement from last week but again they needed to establish the story.
When I started to watch K dramas 20 years ago, it wasn't unusual to have dramas which backstory took 4 to 6 episodes to set up the main story and people weren't complaining, they were patient enough to let the story take its time and grow attached to characters.
Anyway, too bad for those who left and good for those who stayed. I'm also very much enjoying this series. 2024 was a great K drama year for me. Lots of very good series... It doesn't happen every year.
Episode 4 was the best so far... and that cliffhanger :D
This is the point when I want all the eps to be released. Wow love it. Just hoping there is no love triangle and…
I love my love triangle so I hope you're wrong. It's all a matter of how it's done. The love triangle in Lovely Runner was wonderful. It was mostly friendly banter and it was fun to watch. SO YEAH, bring in the love triangle.
A bit disappointed that Eun Ho and Jun Hwa weren't kept in the dark longer ( 'cuz I guess the show hinted very clearly that Eun Ho guessed "His manly Deok Su" is the girl on the poster) BUT it can give an interesting dynamic.
Based on the preview, it doesn't seem that Deok Su knows that both of them know she's a girl ( Su Ra's opinion hasn't been shown so for now I'm going to assume he's an idiot and hasn't guessed that no way in hell can a guy look that beautiful but whatever)...
So I'm all invested in seeing Eun Ho and Jun Hwa getting into petty fights and playing the knights in shining armor to protect her secret with her being completely oblivious of what they know and what they do for her. Of course with some petty jealousy thrown in. I love my triangle when it leads to two guys acting like they're 5 years old with a girl who just doesn't give a fudge. Never gets old.
I mean, the irony of having this cute looking boy, who they already saw in all her feminine glory, calling herself "Manly Deok Su" in front of them while flexing her inexistant biceps is just hilarious...
Though I don't know exactly how she's gonna get out of her predicament.
Anyway, each episode has topped the one before... This week is gonna be reaaaaaaaaaally long.
They have deviated sooo much from the book. Yet I dont dislike it. Also the proposal scene today 🥰🥰🥰
I think the changes make the story far more interesting in my book... But I truly miss the dangerous aura that Sa Eon had when we started this series. I wish they had kept that "wattpad menacing vibe" a bit longer... But I forgive the show, 'cuz the kisses are GREAT. A rarity in K dramaland so credits must be given when they're due.
"Honestly personal experience... your face doesn't change that much between the age of 25 and 40 if you don't overexpose yourself to the sun... So true. I've partially resolved that issue by blocking people. Makes MDL so much more agreeable.
When I started this series I didn't understand your comment but I've started to feel the "slowness" for the past 5/6 episodes.
