I was lucky enough to have a husband for 10 years who was openly called gay by many people, but was not and I loved how he dressed and acted. Unfortunately he never dressed like a woman and actually cheated on me with a woman older than him so I knew it was time to move on, but I am still dreaming of finding one who just looks stunning and wears make up, dresses and all that. General's dtr is snatched by a prince to be his main wife, but in the span of 3 years she is merely engaged and the lovely would be husband takes on a mistress who produces an heir, therefore, prince is demoting FL to the position of concubine. She is saved from humiliation by Mo, a masked dude whom she saved some years ago not knowing that he is by now the Emperor. She fights tooth and nail the indignities of the would be husband (even without consummation or the ceremony Chinese law requires her to obtain a divorce) and the Emperor helps out secretly as he is in love with her, but can't openly oppose his mother and the court as marrying a divorcee is a taboo and his mother has other plans for him. Prince is getting more violent - bullies her and tries to force consummation with hope of gaining control over his wife's money (she is running business backed by Mo who appears incognito -FL did not recognize him from before) and her m-i-l is no better. The resolute FL and nasty 2ML with all the females who are after the position and virtue of the FL are running various schemes AND are making this story interesting. The best part is thatFL does not want to be the part of harem reality and even rejects the Emperor while trying bravely do everything on her own. And although limited with open actions as an Emperor ML is actually supportive of FL and even when he is not protecting FL from various physical attacks by nannies and servants and other jealous women, he is making sure her "husband" never gets too close. Plus ML is telling FL he wants her to choose for herself the life she wants to lead. He is of course not giving up and trying to seduce her but that is just Chinese tradition, right? So in the end she blackmails her "husband"'s family with money and obtains divorce, while Emperor officially kneels in front of her family's memorial tablets asking for her hand in marriage. And they get together in the end-first consumating and then presumably as the highest couple in the land.

I submitted tags to MDL for this drama (lovers separated, family pressure and Strong female lead) and was rejected so in case anyone is interested in knowing what this mini drama is about here is my summary:

I hear ya, rating is such a personal thing and yes, we all had gone through the time when we watched to the end even things we really did not like only to learn to drop in the first few episodes instead of torturing self and wasting time, right?😁
and like you I am prone to watching just things I could enjoy rather than everything that comes out, so I hardly ever drop below 6 (mostly lured in by the actor, director or original creator/screenwriter) but even with that in mind some things end up without rating or (if I already started rating and then wanted to omit it completely) with 1/10.
I like seeing posts by certain people - if their taste is similar to mine, just to share good news or early warnings and if our tastes differ - to be inspired and stretch the comfort zone a bit. Would be nice to see your comments.

I love the music! Just like Embrace in the Dark Night this one does not skip on visuals and auditory value. Although this is not exactly Discovery of Witches, I will take it as it is a novel idea for c-drama in general. I wish Chinese screenwriters had more exposure to the middle eastern folklore and norman/viking sagas traditions. Even slavic legends would give them something to create an awesome mind-blowing dramas! And yes, the actors are really working well here. Any writers there contact me privately, I can give you ideas that will make you rich and famous.

18 eps - how long?

silly and nothing to hang your hat on, but I am on ep 10 and keep going... maybe because regardless of mysogynistic ideas loudly pronounced by most males it is produced in the way that we are never into the "historical" concept merely entertained by this costume comedy. And let's face it: they delivered the best and the freshest reason/excuse to kiss a girl (ep 10) in a long while. You just have to see it!
