I am so glad someone feels similar to my reactions. I just could not get into the novel. I am not even tempted…
eternally grateful for this. Thank you! I started reading chinese books this year as well so I am new to this just as you are. Black cat and golden retriever????🤣🤣🤣🤣 that is new to me as well. I will read I'llBtMLS-iL. I am highly recommending Deng Hua Xiao to you if you have not read it yet - awesome FL and no romance like sex and stuff.
What is NU? LInk?

I was reading the novel out of curiosity when I saw Lay as the ML. What a waste of time, to me it was confusing,…
I am so glad someone feels similar to my reactions. I just could not get into the novel. I am not even tempted to see the drama. I had a repulsive reaction to Prisoner of Beauty novel for all the crudeness (albeit realistic) sex stuff, but at least the drama did something with the script and characters! This I think is going to be the same stupid romance.

I've been thinking a lot about the ending scene. When Jaeyi sits on the roof, we clearly hear the sound of footsteps…
thank you for this post. It takes a deep soul to see things from your perspective. I finished watching and had to engage in other things because this was such a disturbing story and such unpresumptuous ending. I thought similar things to what you wrote but your coherent explanation (particularly the birds!!! reference) cleared the path for me. I can sleep now. Namaste!❤️❤️❤️

I'm sorry, but you just can't make a good historical drama with so few episodes. The acting? A solid 10. Cinematography?…
I am wondering if this should be called a historical drama. If the setting was in modern times, we would say it was drama about crazy dude with money who does unspeakable things to children in the name of becoming a god and we get to see how some people try to get him to stop while others suffer while trying to get a bit of joy while pursuing justice. We would probably label the story with tags like "deviant character" "abuse of children and women" and "power struggle" and maybe "what happens when families deal with trauma" but probably not "romance". Can you imagine the same script adapted to 2025 USA? I can

I've been watching Korean TV series for 20 years, but this is the first time I've cried... The great love and…
oh I feel your pain. This was such downplayed, completely unglamorized series with very good script (even though the story was not the typical one) and played really well. All the aspects of the feudal ugliness checked including the f^^^ed up rules of life set by those in power or money. The theme of delusional sicko prince was very disturbing but hey there are people like that in this world (had my share of witnessing it while working with trauma victims) and let's look around this crazy world to realize we still have the same crappy rules and customs. And when you asked about happiness and social inequality... It is still a process and we as human race do not do that well in learning from our mistakes. I loved this drama, listened to the music and will go back to it because it was really well done with such an important message. Thanks for the post.

I wonder it's not much to take while you live thousand years? Just like us, mortal human, make mistakes, but we…
i don't think i get it, what's the point of dragging that toxic relationship for 12 episodes? For once - could the 2ML be the good guy who gets the girl out of the clutches of a paranoid ML and the arc of "happy marriage" is actually between Fl and 2ML? To hell with the usual tropes. I want to see something different.

I am not sure if I like the voice actors dubbing but it seems to be "the thing" for big productions now.

I think the ending was underwhelming. I know, people like happy endings and so do I but sometimes happy is not necessarily good ending.
I mean - it was blah after all the hooppla in the previous episodes. I think it would have had a better impact if
1) the evil blind man (the character was really well written) got his ending in the way that explained the lightning strike. I mean: who sent that? Bibi gone and Chul supposedly too, so who the heck sent that fire bolt that killed him???? it would have tied nicer the whole story with the second coming of the Imugi, right?
2) the serpent came back after being sent by higher power. REALLY? that is it?! I thought he should have been given a life lesson: you don't disintegrate like your brother but you are given a life worse than you ever had - as human! And if not that he could have been given a chance to mourn as humans do if he was saved by a human sacrifice. Not Yeo Ri but I mean Gap's mother would have served the purpose imo. If Chul could feel (shortly but still) the grief from Bibi's death, why can't he feel the grief of the original Gap after his mother "makes a deal" with higher power to exchange her life for his?
I originally had given it 9/10, but the forced humor of the ending was not to my liking.
