I am always perplexed by how the ancient judicial system worked. I am terribly spoilt by the current/modern protocols and shake my head at futility of some of these c dramas portrayal of what it was like to fight the legal battle in the past. Starting with almost inability to bring things to the court: drumming at the entrance more often than not got you in a hot water and even if you were allowed to file a complaint in your search for justice, if you were a woman - you had to take 20-30 lashes if the case was not accepted and you had to be backed by a man. Then the cruelty of interrogation (basically you are beaten within an inch of your life and sometimes forced to put your fingerprint on whatever they wrote on "confession") and ridiculous trial in the court where your social position counted more than anything else coming from someone on the lower wrung of the ladder. And even witnesses could be dismissed by the virtue of being of lower class and the evidence was something regularly dismissed if it did not fit the magistrate's theory of the culprit.
So this series (which I watched with many pauses because of lackluster content) was rather dull and blah except for the friendship among the 4 of them.

this is a place to respectfully share opinions and impressions from watching a series. We are all entitled to different likes and dislikes. I hope that someone saying "I don't like this" is not a reason to attack that person but perhaps find out what is it they don't like.
Shen Li stated, "no acting skills" and then questioned the value of the role played by WXY, so I guess Shen Li is not satisfied with the script. Both valid points. No need to go after someone with bot accusations or "you rate only 1 or 10". Peace and calm to all of us.

just sharing with people who are not impressed with this production: after the increasing disappointment and putting this on hold at ap 17, I resorted to just watching trailers of the upcoming episodes. You know what? It works! I spend only 30 seconds per episode, get the gist of what is going to be the pivotal point and the best scenes and I bet I will be able to tell what happens in the story overall just from that!

the only double this might bring is disappointment.

I watched dramas with Song Wooden Long and was in disbelief why is he so popular? I guess the looks do this, because he has zero acting skills and have never heard of facial expression variance (not to mention micro expression). FL is the same. Hey! they should be playing in the equally dismal Perfect Match!
And I apologize to anyone offended by my post. No, I will not take it down. It's my opinion and I am sticking to it.

oh, yea on my list. There is literally nothing airing right now that calls to me (except maybe Live or Love?) so I am getting more succulent dishes out of the freezer and SotSS is next!

ep 17 - would you even entertain a thought of inviting these two witches to your house??? I hope this scene serves a purpose. And to paraphrase FL: these kind of soap opera plot twists and bizarre characters never cease

yea, the only thing I like about this drama is that in the desert/steppe or wherever the heck they supposed to be they actually don't put that much make up on people. When I can see pores on someone's nose - it's rather realistic. But that is it. Nothing really exciting. I stopped this to watch another romance by the dude from Money is Coming (which was great) and I have to say I would rather watch 24 episodes 10 min each of Palace Shadows than this crapola. It's definitely heading for Netflix along with Perfect Match.

I know you are working on other projects, so I am waiting patiently only my nails are a mess. 😒

I am planning on watching this and from the looks of it - you are totally into it, so first - can you direct me (spoiler please if you have a link) to the good subs? Secondly, is this BL or mixed bag of romance? I had never seen any of the actors so I wonder. THANKS!

oooo I am glad I checked here. I had seen this dude ML in other projects (most notably in Money is Coming this year) and now checking out his other appearances. I think I will enjoy it too, but now I am forewarned and will not expect much from the ending. Hey, why didn't you write a review?

I have the feeling that the child like aunt is going to be the dark horse of this game PLUS Lin Lu has that electronic record of Luo Yan's sneaky tactics/deeds!

I love it despite the idiotic details from the business world that make no sense whatsoever. BUT the romance is so cool! and on ep 15 it starts to put them through he wringer
