I would not say ep 29 was a filler. The story the leads listened to at tha restaurant kind of foreboded the whole divorce thing . She has not yet told him about the full edict story. So he is going to be shocked when POS Muyang tells him - and ofcourse he will do it to destroy MXY and drive a wedge between the leads - now that he has lost everything . But of course MXY will think that she did everything out guilt - like paying off a debt. That is why Ye Li asked him about the ending of the story a few times. She is already scared that it will happen.

I think the separation arc is important . They are both pretty scarred people and to take a certain leap in the relationship , a certain amount of honesty is necessary. I don’t blame him for accusing her of staying with him out of duty, because for the most part that is how Ye Li has been even though she said she liked him. Moreover she has kept many secrets from him. It was about time it all came to the surface. Sheprobably goes back to the mountain because that is the only Place for her to go. I don’t see her going to her family or staying near MXY. Her will to live probably goes down even further . I don’t think we can blame either of them for it to come to this stage. I would rather that they go to that stage and then sort this out
Ep27: I think the empress is holding Muyang’s son hostage so he keeps his mouth shut . But guess he is already plotting treason. In this episode I liked how Consort Qin left. She also said what she had to say in a clear yet indirect manner . Let’s hope she gets back in one piece . Finally Ye Li bringing Su Zui Dier to justice was a master stroke!
I disagree. Still loving it and going strong. And I am definitely not watching it for the romance. Not needed…
i am sorry but you are looking for a different kind of drama. It is not about being invested in a drama. To me it seems like you are expecting something that is not important to this drama. Lap scenes?? Give me a break. As though that is the focus of this drama.

I just watch dramas I like. There are a handful of actors I love watching - both ML and FL . My watching a drama and liking it depends heavily on the story and a balanced portrayal of the entire cast. I hate it when either the ML or FL completely overshadows the other and the side characters are sidelined. There is a way to portray strong characters without overpowering the entire drama. I see a lot of dramas of late wheee Fl characters are taking over the drama at the expense of all characters and I usually drop such dramas because it’s unfair and if they are just pleasing the fans then it’s even worse - plain stupid

Really though that character may have been fun but there was no real purpose for her in the main story. She was just the love interest of the ML’s friend and a tool to start a war.
